I don't know if this is necessarily the place to post this, but I just got married!!!! This woman has been by my side through the last 2 and a half years in this journey. She met me when I weighed over 600 pounds. I am now back down to my playing weight for football in college, but I am much healthier and and in better shape than I was then. I still have a lot of work to get under 3 bills, but I am extremely happy to head down this new path in life.

So glad to hear you made it and are doing ok. A little tip- I started being forgetful about taking the Prilosec and I've been really hungry lately. I just read that it's actually stomach acid causing the hunger, so remember to take your Prilosec (omeprazole)!
    Hope all is well!

Gassy too. Bloated. hmmmm..... nothing to report on the weight loss front. I am still like a balloon. but soon enough. I will write more later. So tired and nauseated!

    Hi Cass!
I'm feeling wonderful, thanks for asking! The ONLY possible complaint now is every now and then, I'll get some discomfort after I swallow something. It's very rare now though. I do get fatigued a little easier, but I'm sure that has to do with taking in less nutrients (on full liquids this week). Honestly, I can't believe how quickly the healing has happened!
I finally got a scale and weighed myself. As of this morning, I've lost 23 pounds! 10 were pre-op and 13 since last Tuesday.
My surgery was done by Dr. Luis Cervantes in Tijuana in case that's who is doing yours. He was wonderful!
I totally know what you mean about wanting to back out, but you're gonna do great and it will be all worth it. I've had my hard days, and I'm sure there are more to come, but I'd do it all over again. I already feel so much better and happier. It's hard to explain how much your taste buds and desire for food change after the surgery. There have been times where I thought I would kill for a chicken fried steak, but at this point, I'm just not as interested and I rarely feel hungry.
Best of luck to you! You can do this!

Hi everyone! I've been a bit MIA since surgery. Have been trying to stay busy and have definitely been self reflective. Everything went well, but wow, what a surreal experience- probably because I traveled to Mexico for mine.
I was exhausted after the surgery and slept a lot. Had some nausea and pain (not too severe) for the first few days with a bit of dry heaving and one successful foamy vomit. Was up and walking the same day. The following day I walked about a half mile. The day after that I went to the San Diego Zoo, used a wheel chair off and on and also got a sunburn to add to my situation. 😎
I would say the first day I felt great was on the 5th day. Only had pain at the incisions and some bubbly guts, especially when I tried to drink Water too quickly.
All in all, considering I had most of my stomach removed, it's pretty incredible how quickly I'm healing. Each day is an improvement. The incisions are small which is a plus.
As far as hunger, ghrelin is one hell of a hormone. I literally still do not feel hungry at all. I do get "head" hungry and had a few moments of despair, beginning with being in Mexico and not able to eat tacos. I'm also going through weird cravings, like just a few moments ago I really wanted a sandwich with crunchy pickles. I thought about chips and queso several times yesterday. chocolate cake sounds too good to even think about, but sometimes I'll look at food and get grossed out. It's a whole new world. Sometimes I'll think I'm getting hunger pangs but it's actually just gas. Once it moves around and disappears, the feeling goes away.
I do have to keep reminding myself to stay hydrated. All in all, everything is good. Now, I need to go buy a scale! I haven't had one in years for fear that I might accidentally trip and fall on it and see my weight. It's strange to be excited to track it now.
Good luck to all the April and future sleevers!

I sometimes eat this stuff called Arctic Zero. It's like an extremely, extremely airy sorbet consistency. It's lactose free, fat free, gluten free, and I don't believe they use any artificial sweeteners either. It's 35 calories a serving, 150 calories a pint. I'm not a huge ice cream person so a third of a cup or so I find really satisfying and I don't want more.
Not all the flavors are great but I love the toasted coconut and cake batter flavors.

You know what's really good is Halo Top Ice Cream. 240 calories for an entire pint! But I'm not much of an ice cream eater so I eat a few bites to satisfy the sweet tooth and it's great. I'm not a fan of "diet food" at all but Halo Top is probably the best healthy version of ice cream I've ever had. You should give it a shot! Comes in tons of different flavors. According to the reviews, red velvet and Peanut Butter cup are the two favorites.

Hi all..wow there are a lot of strong opinions about mj! I am a nurse and I smoke mj in moderation to reduce anxiety and stress, its helped me more than any pill can..mj has actually been used for thousands of years for its medicinal healing properities! It is not at all like smoking tobacco not even close! I am quitting now because I'm having surgery in 2 wks and want my outcomes to be the best they can possibly be! I don't plan on smoking after surgery for at least 3 months..I just think people should really do their research about mj before commenting and or passing judgment on someone else!

It's totally normal to feel scared. Your life is about to change in so many ways. You're entering the unknown, which is scary. But luckily, it will all be worth it. I'm only 6 days post-op and it's been a ride so far, but all the pros I keep thinking of outweigh all the hardships. I'm just ready to live life fully without weight holding me back. Think of how much energy you'll have for your four children! Super exciting. Plus, you have a great community here for support.
As the others said, you have to have a ride home and you'll definitely want one. As far as shakes, just try different ones. I also drink Premier. I mostly like chocolate and strawberry, but vanilla isn't bad either. Your doctor is probably suggesting the one day liquid diet because of your lowish BMI. You're not incredibly overweight so that's probably why you need less. If you're really concerned, do another day. It won't hurt.
    Good luck!
