9 months post-op....weight loss stopped and frustrated!!!

I already do numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7. You may have a point with #6. I love my tea & coffee [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848] wonder why my nutritionist didn’t figure that out because I told her. She only said to be careful with the caffeine because it can cause dehydration. I’m going to try this and see what happens. Thanks a lot!

9 months post-op....weight loss stopped and frustrated!!!

I need to update my profile but I’m only down 50 pounds. I saw the nutritionist the other week. She didn’t have much to offer. I told her what I was eating and my typical day. She gave me some recipes and snack ideas (cuz I’m getting tired of what I’ve been eating) for a bigger variety and encouraged me to drink more water. I’m down now about 5 pounds since our meeting so I guess that puts me at 55 pounds which is still not very much for 9 months. I’m going to start a eating log and go back to the nutritionist next year to reevaluate. I’d like to be down a total of 75 pounds by my birthday in March. Thanks for the advice
  5. I’m 9 months post-op and my weight loss has completely stopped. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Eating every 2-3 hours. 60-80 grams of protein daily. Drinking water. Exercising some. My surgeon is not happy with my lack of progress. I have no answers. Is a plateau like this common after surgery or am I doing something wrong and just don’t realize it??? HELP!!!! Any suggestions are welcomed! Thanks [emoji1431]

    ??

I actually ate egg drop soup postoperatively. I didn't strain it either and didn't have any issues. Of course I only had a very small portion. Probably shouldn't have had it but it was so good [emoji4]

3 DAYS POST-OP & ITS PAINFUL TO DRINK

The exact same thing just recently happened to me. I had my surgery on 3/29 and have been struggling to tolerate anything because of the pain. I eventually called my surgeon and had a fluoroscopy to check for leaks and etc. Luckily it didn't show any leaks or ulcers. I was told that it was probably gastric spasms and possibly some reflux. I was started on a course of steroids and antispasmodics. I felt like 100% better only after being on these therapies for 2 days. Call your surgeon! Good luck [emoji4]

@Flaca2B & @shan0520 So good to hear how well you've recovered. That makes me hopeful. I'm 3 days post-op and still hurting pretty bad.

@Coah I had my surgery on the 29th as well. The gas pains is the worse. I use mylanta gas chewable minis which is helpful. I hope you can be discharged today. Sending happy thoughts and good vibes your way for a speedy and healthy recovery!

@courtneyd try mylanta gas minis. They are chewable and helps tremendously with the gas pains. I don't think I'm getting enough liquids in either but I think that's expected the first few days. I use a plastic medicine cup (1 oz) and sip liquids every 15 minutes which is 4 ounces per hour. That is what the nurse had me do in the hospital and I'm doing that as a guideline to keep hydrated. Keep up the good work dear!

@courtneyd my pain is better but I still need meds about every 4 hours. Sipping hurts a bit but the discomfort is tolerable. Room temperature water and premier protein is what I am tolerating the best. Had a sugar free popsicle a little while ago. Tasted amazing but caused some spasms in the tummy. I still weigh the same but I lost 13 pounds in 1 week!! Enjoy your walk and know that you're in my thoughts as well. #weightlosttwins

Sounds like we had very similar experiences! My pain was and still a 8/10+. I was originally on morphine but that wasn't helping my pain AT ALL! So they changed me to dilaudid. I got discharged on liquid norco (which is nasty & tastes like NyQuil). I didn't have any nausea until I got home. Having to sip liquids every 15 minutes makes me sick and my tummy cramp. Gotta push through it because I don't want to be re-admitted to the hospital for dehydration.

@bones_girl206 .... me too! Everything went very smoothly. Everyone was so nice too. I was up walking yesterday as well. Had a rough night with the pain but they switched my meds up and things got a lot better. Had my EGD this AM. Tolerating small amounts of liquids ok. So I'm ready to go home!

@sarcruze@courtneyd@bones_girl206 Hey ladies! Just checking in on my fellow 3/29 sleevers! Post-op was rough for me...PAIN!!! But once they adjusted my meds, I got a lot better. I even walked the halls a couple of times. Still haven't had anything by mouth though. I have a EGD this AM. Hopefully after that, I can start sipping and be discharged home.
