  1. Looking forward to not being called fat by my own family! So inconsiderate I am ridiculed because they ask if I am still on my "diet" and that I'm going to gain it all back no help whatsoever and I am very sensitive about my weight because I have pain all day long lately.

Horrible, I know exactly what you mean. My husband is very loose with the "fat" comments. And my grandma who raised me hates anyone who is fat (honestly I think she has a body image issue). I love her so much and she may be losing her memory but sure remembers me saying casually I was starting a new diet and reminding me of it.

  2. My main goal is to remain healthy and avoid having any ailments due to the excess weight. In addition, one NSV I want it to have room left over on my seat belt while traveling on a plane. If I gain an extra 1" on my waistline I will need a seat belt extender. [emoji30]

Same boat! I was at the max last time I flew. I never want to have to ask for that seat belt extender. My surgery will be 2 months before my next flight. Fingers crossed lol

  3. This sounds so weird, but my absolute number one goal is to go to Walmart or Target- and be able to fit into their cute size 18 and below shorts. I see them everytime I go, and REALLY want to wear them. I guess that fits under the "go into any store and buy anything you see" category.

I also want to be able to have the energy to do ANYTHING at ANY TIME of the day. Ahhh, a girl can dream.

YESS every time I walk into Target I will see something cute but I know better to not even try :( they have a few racks, in the back, pushed in the corner, behind maternity, no signs of course, where they have a few plus size items. Talk about depressing. Never the same stuff seen on display. And half the time maternity is mixed in the rack.

  4. I love this thread! I most look forward to being physically comfortable in my body. I have a lot of pain and discomfort from my extra weight. I cannot wait to be free of it.

But I have to say, this post made me think that someday soon, I will be donating ALL my current clothes. The thought of throwing out an entire closet of fat clothes is pretty thrilling!

I was worried I was going to sound selfish lol. I battle my closet every. Dang. Day. Even with my bigger clothes. It's such a struggle. Especially with warmer weather and less clothes to hide under, I hate it. I miss the days of a simple top and jeans. There are so many things I look forward to, I'm loving all these replies! But to not have to go to war with my closet would be amazing!

  5. This will be the hardest part for me lol. Carbs and sugar; everything else will be missed of course but my coffee... that will be very hard for me. My nutritionist said a month, I will need to follow what ever my surgeon says too of course. I don't care for carbonated drinks, so I'm fine there. I may just need to try to use Decaf as much as possible :/

  6. Thank you all! It was fine :) very easy peasy. I felt so chatty and confident when I woke up. It was wonderful.
I wish they told me it was twilight lol, my Grandma had that for her caterats. She had it good!!!
I was just glad I didn't do anything embarrassing. I was chatty but I'm super sure the nurses are used to that. My neighbors didn't feel the same. Maybe I got lucky haha.

  7. Hi everyone, so I've been planning a nice Caribbean vacation with a couple of friends for this summer, but I'm nervous since I might be sleeved by that time.
I'm hoping to get my surgery in late May, early June and traveling for a week abroad in late July. Is that too soon to go abroad?
If you traveled soon after your surgery, what was your experience like?
Or how long did you wait to go abroad?

I'm in the same boat (lol no pun intended). I'm being sleeved hopefully late May, I'm traveling to DR June 19th. Surgeon said I will be fine to travel! :) I did some research and many people have traveled right after surgery. I think the 2 months will be more than enough to travel. I'm not going to over eat, get plenty of Water and avoid alcohol. Maybe a sip of champagne (it's a family wedding lol). But I should be healed enough for the pool and have energy :)

  8. My gastro did an endoscopy on me on Friday. All went well but he did mention he took a few biopsies.... um, of what?? he said he would send the paper work over for surgery and all and also would call me if something "comes back" on the biopsies.

Is this normal? Did I have something going on? I was still out of it from the anesthesia to question him. Im not freaking out or anything but it's itching me.

  9. I have told some and there are some I will not be telling. It took me a little while to not feel like guilty. I haven't been sleeved yet but I have been making it clear that I've started an "intense diet" with a new doctor and it's going to be great (kinda hyping it up lol). If anyone asks I will go that way "strict diet, lots of shakes and Protein, exercise and under doctor supervision, etc".

  10. I'm a nurse too. I do 8 hr shifts, but literally stand the entire time and push a lot of stretchers. I work in endoscopy - not a "heavy" job but very fast paced.
I'm booked off for 3 weeks, but the way my rotation works I'll be 3 1/2 weeks post op when I go back. It this point (day 14), I think I'll be fine. My incisions are healing well and I don't have a lot of fatigue. My main concern is getting my fluids in when I go back to work. I can only drink on breaks.
I'll keep you posted how it goes for me! When is your surgery date?

I'm only a nursing student but the fluids is absolutely scaring me. In class is fine but in the hospital I highly doubt they will let me carry around a water bottle and I have no idea how often I will get a break. I'm going to figure it out no matter what lol. Even if I have to conceal a container under my scrubs!

  11. CLOTHING! I have always been heavy but most of my weight gain is more recent. I really look forward to fitting into some of my old clothes. I have donated a lot of smaller things but there are quite a few pieces I kept. I also had to buy some bigger clothing throughout the year to hold me over. I can't wait to donate it all! And although it's always a struggle in the clothing stores, I can not wait for the day I no longer need to find the "plus size" section (or should I say the few racks shoved in the corner with no signage).

  12. I'm almost 10 months post op and I drink Water pretty much like I did before my surgery. The 'sipping time' doesn't last forever, but your need to be well-hydrated does. I get dehydrated much easier than I did pre-op and have more episodes of raging thirst than I ever have before. Like you said, carrying a water bottle with you is reasonable and you'll probably find it's necessary [emoji4]

Thank you so much for the reply! I think my biggest issue is I chug too much. I really need to break that habit before surgery lol.

  13. Your ability to drink Water in larger quantities will quickly build post-op. You might have to sip religiously to meet your water goals for a few weeks, but it won't be that way forever.
    Good luck!

Oh whew! Thank you for your reply. :) of all things to be nervous about, I chose the sipping water part ha! I just had dinner with someone I know who is a year post op and she was able to drink so much in a only a few hours. I feel much better :)

  14. I can drink much faster now at 6.5 weeks than early on. It gets easier fast. I also make an effort to start early in the day. Because the ban on drinking for 30 minutes after you eat chips away at your drinking time. But do stay hydrated. I had a kidney stone two weeks ago and they suspect dehydration, even though I was meeting the 64oz minimum (the urologist said he recommends everyone get at least 80oz). I NEVER want to go through that again any time soon.

Oh ouch!! Kidney stones are no joke!! Thank you so much for your reply. I was worried I wouldn't be able to do more than a sip or so, that scares me. I had my gastro appt today and he did explain the stomach does allow you to hold more over time. I think my nerves are just getting the best of me :)
