It's so good to hear that other people had the "should I do it, should I not do it" feeling! I felt like it was really hard to make up my mind. I thought I was the only one!

Being able to wear my wedding ring (or even the substitute rings I've bought over the years long after my original ring did not fit). My dear SIL asked me months ago how I kept the male attention at bay without my wedding ring. I just uncomfortably chuckled, too ashamed to tell everyone it hasn't fit me in years.

All the reasons listed here and more. I was banded in 2009 and it worked remarkably well for me. I lost all the excess weight very fast and felt fantastic. No one could believe I formally obese. My band failed and I am starting to gain weight now. I'm having the band remove and getting the sleeve. I've been obese before, and never want to go back to that place.

Being able to take my son to an amusement park and being able to actually go on the rides with him instead of waiting for him to get off them. He is only 7 and is too big for little kid rides and needs a seat partner for the adult rides.

Yes! And I notice that I always hide behind other people in pictures. I'd like to not have to feel like I need to do that.

Oh my, I love Clusie! But I know what you mean, a lot of the people I follow are way ahead of me, looking into plastics, etc.
One I just started watching is "my vsg confessional". I met her in another discussion group, she is recently post-op.
I follow- experiencing nirvana, vsg Jodi, vsg Tonya, Chemistry Queen, Made Up Mama, and several others. They talk about each other, so then I will go look for the people they talk about.
I subscribe to all of them. Sometimes I will go back and watch all, or almost all, of their videos so I can see the story start to finish.
One I watched like that ended up depressing me. It was "less of Sarah". I watched hours and hours of her, she was super motivated and did great. Then she got divorced and stopped making videos as often and the last one she had gained 20 pounds and said she was doing fine but seemed depressed. It was upsetting to me
YOU should start a YouTube channel!

I have not watched the video, if it is a myth, why am I seeing people saying " I have been resleeved9 which I did not think is possible to have any less stomach) because 5 years down the line after overeating the whole time, I stretched my sleeve and needed to have it re done. ) I can not imagine it is something to lie about..

Your sleeve's capacity for accommodating food will increase, but not to the degree that your normal-sized stomach could accommodate food prior to bariatric surgery.
Your normal-sized stomach could accommodate anywhere from 32 to 48 ounces of food. A brand-new sleeve usually accommodates 2 to 4 ounces of food during the first few pre-op months.
Most people who have had been sleeved for more than a couple of years (including me) would say their stomachs have 'relaxed' enough to accommodate a larger volume of food.
People hesitate to use the word 'stretch.' Nonetheless, the early pre-op days of getting full from 3 to 5 bites of food do not last forever for the majority of sleeved people.
For instance, I could eat no more than 3 ounces in the first few pre-op months. I'm currently 2.5 years out and can eat 8 to 10 ounces, depending on how soft or rigid the food is. In other words, my capacity has tripled.
However, just because I can doesn't mean that I should. At the end of the day, it is up to me to avoid eating to my sleeve's maximum capacity.....

    Hi Weight Loss Community!
I have my gastric sleeve surgery scheduled with Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana on September 5th! So excited. I have been watching and reading everything I can get my hands and eyes on about WLS. This week I found this Bariatric Surgeon in Michigan - Dr. Weiner's - Youtube channel. He's legit - a keynote speaker at the WLSFA and has a thriving practice. You should check out his youtube channel; very informative. Anyway, this particular video caught my attention because he says that we don't need to worry about pouch stretching! (*Gasp!*) have already asked for my post-op diet paperwork and my nutritionist states clearly in the packet that we have to be careful not to stretch out the stomach. What are your doctor's saying about stomach/pouch stretching?

Focus on healthy lifetime habits. Whole foods you make yourself are best. Exercise daily. Lots of Water. As soon as you can, get off the Protein powders and bars and eat real food. I had surgery at BMI 30. I am 6 months out and over those months lost an average of 10 pounds per month. I am in the exact center of the healthy weight BMI now, have tons of energy, look great and am super pleased with my progress. Don't worry about speed of loss, focus on how you will live for the rest of your life.

I am checking back in. I am slowly bobbing along.
It has been about 9 weeks post-op and I am down 23 lbs. I have 27 lbs to go. Considering I am not freaking out over my diet, measuring everything and just intuitively eating while enjoying life, I am quite pleased.

You'll get there. Along the way there were definitely times when I was frustrated and angry and thought it was going way too slowly. Now, looking back, I think it was fine. I'd still like to lose a bit more, but I'm ok with it taking a while. I'm living life, feeling good, doing stuff I didn't do before, wearing clothes I've never in my life fit into before, it's all good.

    Day of surgery weight: 192
At one month out, I was at 182 (down 10 pounds), and at 2 months out I was at 177 (down 15 pounds).
    I'm 10 months out and I'm down 63 pounds.

I'm almost a year out (August 30th) and was a low BMI'er with PCOS. I had alot of short stalls, but just stuck with the program and feel that going to the gym (after doc's release) was imperative to the whole process. I just did what I could at the gym. Everyone has to start somewhere. I just talked to someone with my same stats who had surgery in December and already lost as much as I did. That's 6 months versus a year!!!! That blew my mind. It's hard to not get caught up in the numbers. My advice would be to focus on how you feel and the things you will be able to do as well as your loss. Don't let the scale dictate your total success or happiness.
    My stats:
    Height 5'7"
    Starting weight - 236
    Surgery weight - 232
    Weight as of today (7/29) - 144

Best wishes to you on your journey!

Good grief, that's a pound a day! I was 213 day of surgery, lost 9.5 pounds at my post op appt and then stalled for 5 weeks. Finally lost 3 pounds to break the stall. At 9 weeks out I've lost 18 pounds.
id say compared to me you're doing fantastic!

I am going to be a month out tomorrow and have lost 18 lbs. The first 14 fell off in 2 weeks...the last 4 lbs have taken two weeks to come off. It is slow going. I have started back at the gym and hope to convert some of this fat into muscle to help out.

I was 17 lbs at 2 weeks, but then nothing for 5 days. I know in my heart, eating like this and exercising, the weight will eventually come off. Hang in there and follow your plan!

Hi everyone I'm 13 days post op and have only lost about 14 pounds. I was 214 day of surgery. I feel like it should be going faster. Any other low bmi sleevers out there? What was your loss at the 1 and 2 month mark? I started back at gym yesterday so hope that helps.
