I have UHC Choice plus and we were approved within 30 days. I can forward you the letter that I had written for my pcp and my wifes OBGYn and they sent this to the lapband doctor and he submitted and were approved. The biggest problem we had was they said they did not have my wife stuff. So we sent it again, and the third time it was faxed while the doctors office was on the phone and then she was approved within 20 minutes while they waited on the phone. Do you have all the information the insurance will need for approval? Ie: 5 plus years of weights, a list of all your co medical issues, all your meds,letter from your primary doctor to the lapband doctor. Did the doctor say how it took them to get others approved with this insurance. We have UHC and was approved in less than 30 days and my wife is having it done on the 12 of Sept and Iam on the 19th of Sept. Have you talked to the insurance company about what want? Welcome to the group. I take it that you your insurance does not cover wls surgery? Have you check to see if there is going to be any changes in 08 in regards to this. I happen to be reviewing are medical plan and found that it had been changed and so now my wife is having surgery a week from today Sept. 12 and 2 weeks for me. Sept. 19. We are both very excited about this. There are several places in the US that have low prices for the band. One of the things that I here a lot from people is trying to get fills etc. You need to check with doctors in your area and see what they will do. MY wife and I have bought new bikes about ten years ago to help with weight loss. I did ride the kids a lot when they were small. With a week to go for my wife and 2 weeks for me in getting are bands, hope to start riding them in late fall or wait untill spring and then go to town with ridding. There are several places in the US that are about $10,000 or so. There is a place in Cetral Missouri, Colorado. Keep in mind a lot of people are having problems with getting fills from the US Doctors. Make so you have one in place before you have this done in Mexcio. Chris Pre Op St. Louis 250
