    How about Banded or Lapbanded
  2. Keep in mind even if your husband switches job you can carry your current insurance under COBRA for up to 18 months. Also keep in mind that the new insurance might not kick in for a long time. Again it does cost more but you would be able to get your coverage. I have the same insurance that you have and if you have everything in line you should get approval in less than 30 days. I was approved in less than 14 days. Chris
  3. My wife and I had restriction for about about 10 days after surgery. Once the swelling and ajustments to the band in the body went down we noticed that we needed a fill. Even after the 1stt fill we noticed about a week later we were ready for another fill. Chris
  4. I would talk to your doctor about this and also mention when you go in and see the Ansth. as they have meds to help you out with this. WHen I had my surgery they said I should bring it with me as they have them but want to amek sure its the right one. How ever I left it at home and did not have a problem with it. One of the doctors the next day asked me if they brought it up and I told him know and said I doubt I would of had it on that long since I had gas pains and was up walking around. Chris
  5. Congradulations on both of you being banded. My wife and I were banded one week a part (9/12/07 9/19/07) and both of us are doing good and ready for a 2nd fill. Chris
  6. The doctors and books that I have read say that you should loose between 1-3 lbs per week. Now keep in mind everybody is differant. I was banded on 9/19/07 and Iam down about 20 lbs after surgery. Chris
  7. Congradulations on the NSV with shirts. I can say that I have to look at getting new belts and my pants are sliding down. Chris
  8. I will agree with most. The first fill helped for about a week but now I can tell I need another one. Hope the next time I will get more than just 1 cc. Stress can do a lot to make restriction and not get much of a fill. Chris
  9. There is some studies going on that are for kids under 18 and does not cost much or anything. There have been some post here and on the Yahoo boards about kids. Maybe she can get under a national study. I think that the band is going to be just like other procedures in the furture. Maybe even to the point of no approval before hand, but that is a long way off. Have you told the Ex that you are doing the lapband and what has he said. Good Luck with everything. Chris Chris
  10. Congradulations on your new AP band. I have had mine for 6 weeks and enjoy it. I have CPAP and did not have problems with it. My doctor required us to stay in the Hosp. overnight and did an upper GI the AM to make sure tha band was in the right place before we could drink liquids. Chris
  11. Sounds like the swelling has gone done in your body and will be ready for a fill. I felt the same way a couple of weeks after being banded. I had a fill on 10/15/07 and can tell that I need another fill. The band has help me to slow down when eating. I can tell when I eat to fast. Keep in mind that everyone is differant and you will have to exp. with things. Chris
  12. My wife had the same problem. and we had a back up plan since we were both doing the lapband. We would just switch days. Come to find out it was just allergies. This years seems to be real bad in a lot of areas since it has been so dry. Can not wait for the first real big frost. Not sure when that will happen. Chris

I was banded on 9/19/07 and got 1cc fill on 10/15/07 and I can tell that was not enough. I think stress was playing a part with making it tight when I got the fill. My wife had gotton 2 1/2cc. Were hoping for another fill right after Thanksgiving. Will keep everyone updated. Chris
  14. Since my surgery I have told more and more people and they have been supportive of me. I have even had a couple say that they would like to get the band. A lot of people have notice the change in the way I look. One of the reason that I did not tell everyone was that I did not wish to here about the negative things. Chris
  15. Here is another thing to look at, make sure that they have all the information. Ask the doctors office to mail it all and have them sign for it. I was approved within 2 weeks of them sending it in. They sent my wife at the same time and never really found out what happen but the doctors office resent all the stuff and was approved within 2 hours after complaining. Good Luck. Chris
  16. I have UHC and was approved. I had a silimar things but I had my doctor use my weights prior to coming to her and she put them in the letter and I was approved. You might have them put you weight watchers weight in the letter. I hope that will help you out. If you would like to see the letter that I had written e-mail me at vcw61@excite.com and I will forward it to you. Chris
  17. Iam in Indy also. I was banded on 9/19/07. Chris
  18. I was banded on 9/19/07 and I work in Indy during the week. Things are going well so far. I had my first fill on 10/15/07. Glad to see others are doing well also. Chris
  19. I just wanted to give you the numbers for my wife and I surgery X 2. Not sure how the medical field does it to say the least. Hosp Dis Ins My Cost 31,064 19,244 11,695 250 Doctor Dis Ins My Cost 11,890 9,517 2,372 0.00 Ansth Dis Ins My Cost 1,530 826.00 704 0.00 X-ray Doc 65.00 29.45 35.55 0.00 Total 44,549 29,617 14,807 125.00 Chris
  20. Everyone in the group is successful. We just loose at differant levels and some are quicker than others. I think a lot of people think it will happen faster than it does and that is why they feel they are not making it. Chris
  21. Give yourself some time. My wife is 6 weeks out and Iam 5 weeks and we had are first fill with an upper gi and the doctor put 1cc in my band and 2 1/2cc in heres. I allready have noticed the restriction. He does it with the scope and was able to see that we both had good restriction. I hope that this helps you out. Keep in mind that everyone and bodies are differant, Chris
  22. I would ask him/her what are there procedures are when they put the band in. What type of bands are they using? Ask about your Meds that you are taking and if you have to change any after surgery. How long it will take him to get stuff in for the insurance company? Diet plans for the 1st 6 weeks after surgery, what you can and canot do. I hope that this helps you out. Chris
  23. You have a very good question to ask the doctor, in regards to when we loose weight. I will ask him when I go in Nov. to see him. He did say when we got are fills on Monday that guys have more fat in the area of the band and that is why I only got 1cc verus my wife getting 2 1/2cc. He said the ladies have more on the outside. Chris
  24. I am five weeks out and had my first fill on Monday. The biggest problem that I have been having is that I need to stop when I feel hungery and eat. Also I need to stop and drink when working out side instead of going for a couple of hours. That is my biggest problem. Glad to see that you are doing well. Chris
