lots of people have. Just do a lot of research before picking a surgeon. Dr. Francisco Sauceda in Monterrey and Dr. Laura Carmina Cardinas in Tijuana are well-known by those of us in the bariatric community. I'm sure there are other excellent ones, too, but those names come up A LOT.

Patients that weigh below 200 lbs (or had a revision) don't typically lose as quickly as someone that weighs a lot more, so try not to compare yourself to others. Cally, you've lost 14 lbs in 3.5 weeks , which isn't bad, especially after being pumped with IV fluids.

The other thing that initially impacts post-op weight loss is all the Fluid that was pumped into your abdominal cavity during laparoscopic surgery, and if you were on an IV during your hospital stay. It will take time to lose the weight caused by this fluid. Be patient. It is usually recommended that you don’t weigh yourself the first month so fluctuations and stalls don’t mess with your head. Good luck. Your experience is very normal. Just follow your surgeon’s plan and you should be fine.

I sent a selfie I took a few days ago to a friend from college that I haven’t seen in 20+ years. (I will be seeing her in person this weekend and wanted to make sure she would recognize me.) She says I still look the same and so didn’t need to see a current pic. That made me feel wonderful. I was slim in college and am a little lighter now. Life is good!

Be sure to use an app to track to track your food intake. These numbers that you list aren't adding up. 65 carbs and lets say 100 Protein with zero fat and zero sugar just doesn't add up to 1200 to 1500 calories. So its important that you are tracking your calories and those macros.

I think you need to work on having realistic expectations. Your thought process that your surgery didn't work, you're a slow loser, that this should be easier is worrisome. You've lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks! That's a lot of weight in a short amount of time. You think you are failing, when you are actually succeeding. Is there some one in your surgeon's office you can speak to, or they can refer you to, to help you recalibrate your expectations?

As stated in the other/dupe post, the following doctor is a preeminent bariatric surgeon in the DFW area, and is also one of the few in the US that can handle complex revisions cases.
Many people travel from all over the country, Texas, and even internationally, to get surgery with him. He also is very experienced with the Duodenal Switch (2 anastomoses) procedure, which very few surgeons are capable of performing.

I had liposuction years and years ago when it was still new and it does nothing for weight loss. The fat cells come back and other ones are quite happy to store extra.
My BMI was 32 when I got my band 10 years ago. I am of the view that people that are only a “ little bit obese” eventually become a “ lot obese” if they don’t do something early on. All those people that got to BMIs of 40 and above would once have had a BMI similar to yours. Did they manage to lose the weight with diet and exercise or WW, no, they needed surgical intervention. That is because obesity is complex and the solution is not as simple as just diet and exercise, if it was none of us would have a problem.
I had to have my band out in Jan due to issues and I revised to an RNY, at that point my BMI was under 30. I am happy I did because after 56 years I know that I need help to control my weight, I can’t do it on my own.

My reaction to her food intake was "well there's the problem! Poor girl probably doesn't realize that she is consuming HELLA carbs!" Ditch the OJ - thats full of sugar and is no better than drinking soda. Replace the bananas and papayas with berries - banana and papaya are high sugar fruits. You need to replace the carbs with Proteins - they will keep you fuller longer.
and speaking of Protein - WHY IS IT YOU ARENT HAVING ANY PROTEIN UNTIL DINNERTIME?! Seriously - there is a small amount in your soy milk and a small amount in the cream cheese. But a majority of your protein is the stuff you're eating after 6pm. No wonder you're hungry.

@Healthy_life2 I swear this whole post feels like a ho-ax...when I saw the daily menu...
How can anyone eat a whole papaya? Granted there are many sizes of papaya, but to be able to eat a papaya and a banana at the same time without repurcussions, then be able to eat again within a couple of hours? I have very very little restriction, but I couldn't do it--even if I could tolerate the massive amounts of carbs/sugars/fructose in this daily menu without dumping (which I couldn't)...
I don't like to think of anyone being "fake" nor do I accuse someone lightly. But gee whiz. This just seems cray.

What foods are allowed on your surgeon’s plan? Do you have a print out?
I can’t stress enough to log your food. You will never know how many calories and carbs your eating unless you log them. You can’t guess your way through weight loss. Restriction alone will not make you successful in the long term.

Processed carbs are going to make you crave them more and make you hungry. Seriously, I hope you are not eating 267 carbs in the estimate below. My carb range is 55 grams of plant and low glycemic carbs.
You didn’t give brands or how many ounces/serving sizes you ate. This is a estimated based on the information you gave. If this is correct you are eating weight gaining calories and macros – You can log your information correctly and get a better look at what you are doing with your diet

I completely agree with @catwoman7. Your diet is carb/sugar heavy. I know that you're getting your sugar from fruits, but it's still high in sugar, and doesn't keep you full long. I thought you were vegetarian for a second there, until I saw that you have meatballs. You need more protein. I'm a year out, and I can only eat 2 eggs at a time, or a small grilled chicken breast and a couple of brussels sprouts. I focus on getting in my protein, and that makes me full, and keeps me full for a long time.

your diet is pretty heavy on carbohydrates. I suspect you might be one of those people who are carb sensitive (a lot of us on here are). Eating carbs just makes carb sensitive people crave more carbs- thus, hunger. Try swapping some of those carbs out for Proteins - eggs, meat, cheese, yogurt (I know you already do eat some of these). Many of us are told to eat Protein first, then non-starchy vegetables, and then if we have room left, a piece of fruit or a small amount of whole grains. I'm not particularly carb sensitive, but I rarely have more than one fruit serving a day, and maybe a small serving or two of whole grains. I try to focus on mostly proteins and vegetables. And for Snacks, I always pick a protein or else pair a protein with a carb (like apple slices with peanut butter). I rarely eat a carb by itself.

Reminder: Don’t stock up on Protein RTDs (ready to drink) or powder products pre-bariatric surgery as your tastes may change after surgery. This is not uncommon. I made the mistake of sampling and buying a bunch of stuff beforehand that I couldn’t stand after gastric bypass, which I ended up having to give away - was a waste of money.

MarinaGirl got a reaction from GreenTealael in Do all sleeves or baraitric surgeries need revisions?
For many people, a restrictive-only bariatric surgery, which the VSG is, is not enough to achieve optimal health outcomes. Basically, the sleeve is just a diet with a smaller stomach. Therefore, bariatric surgeries that are also malabsorptive, such as RNY, MGB, or DS, typically offer better weight loss results and resolution of diabetes.
Another risk with VSG is worsening of or development of GERD, which is one of the main reasons for revision from VSG to RNY. So if a pre-op has pre-existing GERD/reflux, then they should get a gastric bypass as their original bariatric surgery.

    MarinaGirl got a reaction from Frustr8 in Should I or shouldn’t I get Lap-Band
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET A LAPBAND. It is not too late to cancel the surgery. There are much better bariatric surgeries that result in real weight loss without ALL the complications of the lapband. Getting one will inevitably lead to health issues and limited weight loss. There’s a reason that very very very few surgeons propose them any more. I’d be concerned that a surgeon that does offer the procedure is not a very good or ethical surgeon.
