    Post-Surgery Hormonal Changes?

I've been dealing with skin issue flare ups as well, on my back. The estrogen dump is a real thing. Bodies are used to producing more hormones because we we were bigger and required more. Now, the body is trying to adjust but it's rapid so playing catch up. For me, it's been more emotional imbalance. Anger, mood swings, crying. I have a history of anxiety and depression caused by my PCOS. They thought this would help but so far it's been a mess. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app

    Weight loss update

This was my screenshot from yesterday's weigh in. I just weighed again and dropped another .4lbs which now puts me in the 80lbs club. I have been in a much better place mentally, since I started working with my personal trainer 2-3 days a week. It's costly living life post-sleeve, but I don't mind because I feel so much better. It was touch and go in the beginning with feeling so different so fast. I needed time for my head to catch up with my body. I'm sitting here now with my first cold/possible flu and definitely feel exhausted. I was up researching meds I'm allowed to have and resting. But, for thr first time I'm not worried about gaining weight because of being home bored bingeing on food. [emoji3] Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app

    Dr Fitzer

He's great. I have nothing to complain about. He is his own on call physician which I was surprised about, but super grateful for. He has a thorough eating regimen and really sets you up to be successful.
  4. I have been sick to my stomach all day. Can't get through 6oz of protein shake without feeling terrible. I have PCOS and primarily stuck with whole eating seasonal and organic. My stomach is having a hard time with all of this fake food. I haven't had jello in a decade same with pudding. I don't eat cream of chicken soup from a can. I've made my own broth which helped a bit, but mostly I feel terrible. I can stomach popsicles and water. My 3 week post op is this Wednesday. I am switching to soft foods and hoping this phase will go better. Anyone else dealing with this??

    Liquid phase

I too am fed up with sweets. Prior to surgery inat seasonally and organic with one cheat meal a month. I had surgery for PCOS. Had to call my nutritionist because I can't even get my protein shake down. 6oz at best.

    VA sleevers!?

I'm 9 days post op. Still having some pain on the left side. My body hates all the protein shakes, jello, and g2. Everything tastes too sweet and fake right now. I was an organic whole seasonal eater prior to surgery so I'm struggling right now.

    Home

So my surgery was 3/29/2017. I woke up and was in recovery for about an hour and a half waiting for my room. I was given ice chips while in recovery because my throat hurt so bad from the intubation tube that was there and the g tube testing for leaks. I was pretty much in from Wednesday-Friday morning. I got up and started walking Wednesday night. Did about 4 laps of the 4th floor. They had me on blood pressure medications, heparin twice a day, and roxicodone to help with pain and sleep. Thursday and Friday I finally got up and walked enough laps to start passing gas. Not a lot, but enough to make stomach feel better. Food wise I wasn't hungry. I pretty much set a timer for every 5mins to take a sip of something to start adjusting to what my sips need to be like. I thought I was supposed to handle 1oz of liquid as a sip wait 15 minutes drink another. Doc says that's wrong. I was sent home with no medications. I'm allowed to have tylenol. I kind of wish I was given heparin to do myself because I am terrified of blood clots. But, here I am with my legs up. Trying to not let my anxiety win. My partner has been amazing and so helpful. I knew he loved me before but damn he's proved it daily since surgery. Hope everyone else is feeling better.

    March

I was nervous all the night before. BUT, it went smoothly. I was up walking Day 1. Incisions hurt a bit last night. Still haven't passed gas or had a bm, so hopefully today. I'm exhausted from the consistent nurses and meds. But, feeling stronger daily.

    Tomorrow is the Day

I've been in nesting mode all day today. I cleaned, did laundry, organized all my post-op eats and vitamins. I still have a few things to do tomorrow. Finishing towels, picking up easy foods for the partner, and packing my hospital bag.

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet --- ARGH!!!!

I am on post-op day two of liquids. I was following the eating plan my doctor put me on. We started fluids a day early. So, it's 4 days total. I'm pretty tired and I've just been packing my hospital bag, organizing my kitchen so I'm ready to go for week 1 liquids. I'm definitely feeling an early bed-time a long struggle at the office tomorrow. My grand-father was put in the hospital this week as well, so super stressed.

    Nervous/Excited

I would love to say I've been walking a ton, but my energy level is non-existent. I've been super cranky this week, hoping that settles down soon.

    Complication fears

I have avoided the complications portion at all costs, because knowing about them isn't going to make the situation better. I signed my forms last week basically telling me what the worse case scenario was and I have been an anxiety ball ever since. There's enough people available to tell me about the bad stuff, but with PCOS, adrenal issues, and thyroid problems I was already heading for a future I don't like. So, this is the thing I can control and follow through with. We're all going to be okay.

    March

March 29th is so close. I have my final weigh in this Friday the 24th. I hit my goal weight this morning. Having two protein shakes, a string cheese, and one meal of protein and and veggies. I've been very jittery. Guess this will prep me for the 3 days of liquids starting Sunday. Kind of getting nervous. My partner is also feeling nervous.

    March

Congrats! I am a little over my goal surgery weight so I'm on predominate liquids now. I have another check in next Friday. I have PCOS so the weight doesn't just drop off. Fingers crossed.

Yay! That's exciting. What part of VA are you moving to?
  17. Hey everyone, I am new to this website and looking for any support I can get in the Fredericksburg, VA area. I have lived here off and off but always working as a social worker so not a lot of free time for friends. My co-workers are great and have really had my back. I have a partner who is supportive when he is home. But, he works in transportation and is on the road quite a bit. So, it would be nice to have some people in the area who are going through this as well.

    Nervous/Excited

Me too. I am trying to stay as positive as possible and hopefully no road blocks come back on my blood work. Fingers crossed! Let me know if you need any support this week.

Congrats. Hope you're having a good morning. I am not far from Richmond. Let me know if you need anything, even if it's just a mailed care package. I am just trying to get my house ready and get my shopping done for the post-op.

    Pre-Op diet...how much did u

That is awesome to hear. I have already lost several pounds just following the plan my nutritionist gave to me. But, I'm trying to make sure my liver is in the best shape possible before surgery. My primary care doctor was actively trying to talk me out of this at my pre-op check. Saying that if I was doing so good this way why couldn't I just continue it. I shut that down very swiftly. Congrats and so glad there is a huge community of us.

    March

I am getting my sleeve on 3/29/2017. I just had my labs done yesterday. My PCP is recommending me to get an ultrasound although my bariatric surgeon didn't require it. Everything went well otherwise. I have a little bit of a sinus infection so working on that now. Anyone in the VA area getting sleeved soon?
  24. bones_girl206

    20 Days until I'm sleeved

I am getting sleeved on March 29th. I am feeling nervous because there was such a quick turnaround. I started Feb. 16th and because I have Carefirst they had less strict guidelines. I had to complete three nutrition appointment, have documentation of attempted diets, and a psych eval. They originally wanted to do it on 3/22 but my dad was out of town and he didn't want to miss it. How are you all dealing with the nerves?
