Apple1 reacted to MSinger in Hello everybody I new to this forum but wanted to share my story . I started my weigh
There are quite a few people I've seen post here they weren't working out too much. There are plenty of ways to get to the finish line, and you picked the route that would get you there.
I stay active, but wouldn't really say that I work out because of how little activity I can tolerate. If I push myself I sometimes get dizzy, or I get extremely hungry later in the day. I'd eventually love to add more activity in, but my #1 priority right now is losing weight. Congratulations on your success!

That is awesome, congrats on your new life as a much smaller you!!
Well it is never too late to start exercising so good for you on hitting the gym. I have read that losing weight is 80% diet and only 20% exercise so your journey proves that. I do believe it is important for other reasons so I started at 3 weeks post-op.
I hope you will stick around and I look forward your posts.

Apple1 reacted to MSinger in Does anyone purposely go to bed hungry or do you eat if you're hungry right at bedtim
I know people are iffy on eggs, but they are such a good reset food. Lots of protein, lower calorie... I feel bad for folks whose sleeves don't agree with eggs because they are such a good food source.

Thank you all. The knee feels pretty good. Just a little sore when I get up from sitting. Still hoping it is nothing but soreness.

Apple1 got a reaction from krandall in Hello everyone at this point what are the things I should have for my surgery in mid
You will want clear liquids for the first week and protein shakes/powder for the first month. Sometimes your tastes change post-op so don't stock up too much on any one flavor or brand just in case this happens to you.
Sugar free ice pops are enjoyed by many here and drinkable yogurt low sugar. Sugar free jello if you like that. I made some homemade soups the first couple weeks and drank the broth. That bwas so much better then just buying broth.
You may need some miralax or MOM for constipation.
Good luck and I hope you continue to post about your journey.

I don't eat after my 7pm snack (which is usually a cup of yogurt). Occasionally I'll be really hungry and have a small late night snack with lots of protein (I had a slice of smoked salmon last night), but I feel bloated and icky the next morning when I eat too late the night before.

Apple1 reacted to Newme17 in Does anyone purposely go to bed hungry or do you eat if you're hungry right at bedtim
Thank you all for your responses. When I think about why I was hungry last night, I realized that all I ate were veggies for dinner. Sure, a bit of cashews, but nothing that would keep me for a few hours at least. So, poor choice on my part. I'll have to work on that. I think I'll stick to not eating before going to bed, BUT I will make sure I have something protein-filling around 7 or 8pm, so I won't be super hungry like I was last night. I did wake up this morning very hungry, so I ate a scrambled egg about 6:30 am! I usually don't eat till nearly 10.
Still working out the kinks of this new stomach, so...thank you again for your inputs. I'll surely use them.

If I was hungry I would eat a healthy small snack. If you are working out in the evenings your body may need this for recovery. You have to figure out what works for you.

Yes, rest that leg! I know it's tempting to get back out there, but one day is better than several weeks if you injure yourself. You're making the right choice

Exciting! I've been doing #C25K, but I fell out of the loop on week 5. Just doing speed intervals now. I ran/walked at a 16:30 mile today! Keep up the good work!

Apple1 reacted to Newme17 in It's nice hearing "your legs are smaller" My hubby told me this on my way out to the
Gym is great. I almost can't believe I even tried doing things on my own. Lol. I really am in my element being back there again. Just as when I signed up is when my boss asked me to go full time. So, now my days are pretty long and I'm pretty tired by bed. Getting dinner going, taking one kid to swim, getting baths done, and going to workout, are pretty eventful, but productive days.

I agree, very nice to hear the compliments from hubby. How is it going at the gym?

Apple1 reacted to Newme17 in It's been awhile. No reason, I just haven't been feeling anything lately. A lot happe
What got me to wls is not eating enough. Go figure. So, I agree, you must make sure you're eating. You'll see the stall break when you do.
Sorry to hear of the work thing. I don't believe in karma, but I do believe that people will be exposed due to sins and have to pay the consequences. So, she is getting what she's supposed to. Do your best to forgive her though and move on hon.
And eat!!!! 😁

Apple1 reacted to MSinger in I am looking forward to the cooler weather the Fall will bring. I say this as I am si
This is such an inspiring post! I can't wait for the cooler and less humid weather either as I feel I can get better workouts when it isn't so stifling hot out. It'll come, and the good news is that we'll be in even better shape by then too! Go, lady!

That's a great doc to have! I'm so glad he took the time to school you in getting healthy. There's so much about the body that I didn't know before wls. How it works against us as we try to get healthy on our own, why it's so darn hard to lose the weight, etc. My mindset has totally changed. I always thought if I could just stick with it, then I'll be okay; which I'm sure would and could happen, but the fight was just awful. Back and forth, back and forth. Indeed, the metabolism reset is what was needed for me too. I'm so glad we're getting healthier and we're learning too. I'm so happy that you're going to be much happier in your 50's as well. I heard that the 50's are awesome btw. I can surely wait to get there, but when I do, I'm sure I'll enjoy them too. LOL
You have a great Monday too!

Apple1 reacted to MSinger in As I was running this morning I was thinking. I am enthusiastic and determined after
I've had to do something similar, but more with the people around me IRL. I cannot tolerate drama right now, and I have family who love to fight, stir up drama, or stew in negativity. This surgery was a major step all of us had to take, and I know we did it to fight for our health. I think that mentality may have a tendency to run over into other areas (which is a good thing).
Also, congrats on the running progress!
