  1. How many carbs are in the yogurt and protein shakes? Believe it or not some shakes have a lot of sugar. Are still taking your diabetes medication? How long ago was your surgery? Stress and healing can cause some people's bs to rise. I would talk to your doctor if it doesn't come down. Not everyone is able to stop their medication after WLS. I hope this helps.
  2. My previous pastor was morbidly obese. He was a great spiritual leader, but his weight did limit his activity and therefore his ability to participate in some functions. I believe most of our church family would have supported him if he had chosen to have WLS. There will always be those that are negative and it can be hard because they always seem to be the loudest voices. I think you should be honest with your congregation if you feel comfortable doing so. It is a personal decision that only you can make. i don't see anything wrong with keeping it to yourself either if that is what you decide.
  3. Girl, I need to buy me some new panties..lol mine are falling off me and I look a sight.. i hear you on the boss getting upset. Family always comes first for me too. I am fortunate that I have more sick leave then I need with my job. I earm 6 hours every two weeks. Enjoy your day off tomorrow!!!
  4. Now you got me wanting tacos. I think that is tomorrow's dinner ..minus the shell of course.
  5. Breakfast- coffee, protein shake Lunch- barbaqued beef rib ( cooked in the slow cooker) side of asparagus snack- string cheese Dinner- more of the ribs and asparagus snack- 1oz of cheddar with PB.
  6. I think it might take a couple more weeks before we have lost enough to notice in our stomachs. Are your clothes getting looser? I can definitely tell in my clothes. I am using the tightest row of clasps on my bras now, that hasn't happened in so many years. I hope your daughter feels better soon.
  7. So good to see your post tonight @mishyk. I think you try to broaden the variety in what you are eating. Maybe try some tuna salad , egg salad, etc... I would be so tired of yogurt lol.... so happy for you gaining the confidence to date your friend. Enjoy yourself girl.
  8. For some people 60g of carbs could be a problem. Maybe try lowering that to 30 for a few days and see what happens.
  9. I just had surgery on May 15th and I stayed two nights in the hotel. I agree with everything you said. My experience was great. I didn't really hear any noise from the casino, but that may depend on exactly where your room is located.
  10. You look good. Congrats on getting your surgery. Now the journey begins?
  11. This is just one of many stalls you will likely encounter. It is normal. Your body is healing.
  12. It sounds like you are doing really well. Just listen to your body and rest when you need to. Sip every few minutes all day long and try different temperature liquids to see what works best for you. Everyday gets better ?
  13. I had nausea the first night, but never vomited and have been fine ever since. Ask for something and it will help.
  14. Yes, my nut said 2 cups a day starting at week three was fine. I have been adding in an extra cup late afternoon. I haven't had any problems with it at all. I struggled with whether I should add the caffeine back in since I went to all the trouble of weaning myself off before surgery. In the end I decided that if coffee is my one vice so be it. I don't drink or smoke, so I am gonna enjoy some good brew..lol
  15. It is interesting that at your height and weight you are a size 12. I am 5'8" and weigh 193 and I am in a size 12 also. I am hoping to get down to a 6-8 before I start thinking about maintenance. At this rate I may not need to get down to 150 to be the size I am wanting.
  16. I am right there with you @Newme17 on this being the longest week ever. It is nice that you are able to bring your kids to work if you need to. This looks like a good plan. I think with our small stomachs we need to eat at least every 3-4 hours. I have noticed that there seem to be a couple of different camps, those who eat frequent small meals throughout the day, and those who stick to 3 meals. I am doing three meals and 2 snacks, but my second snack is usually after my evening workout and at least 1.5 hours before bed. I am never hungry early in the morning so I have just been drinking a shake on my commute into to work, since lunch is at 11:00 for me, it holds me well. I have started slipping back into drinking more coffee this week. I haven't been sleeping that well and I really need the pick me up in the afternoon. According to my plan I can't have salads until week 7 and nuts until week 8, and I am really missing both!! I have a church board meeting tonight so I am not going to have time to cook. I am going to take out some ribs and put them in the slow cooker tonight so I can eat them for lunch and dinner tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good evening. Ill check back with you all later tonight.
  17. I think making homemade broth is the way to go, it really saved me and broke up the monotony of the shakes.
  18. I had surgery on May 15th and I am getting in about 750 calories a day and my energy is fine. How much protein are you getting? My nut has us shooting for 65-80g. I should be at 800 calories in the next week or two.
  19. Yes completely normal. Ignore the scale for a week.
  20. I did not start that until week 3 when I started on puréed foods. Basically everything is a liquid right now for you so no reason to wait 30 minutes. Also I was consuming about 8oz over a 60 minute period at first and then was able to drink a 11oz shake in about 30 minutes by the end of the week. My stomach healed quickly so you may or may not be able to consume as much as fast as I did.
  21. I never really took anything for pain once I left the hospital except Tylenol. There were no extra costs like everyone else said. It was a great experience and the valets will take good care of you.
  22. I was full liquids on week two which included, protein shakes, yogurt, jello, soup broth, basically anything of a liquid consistency. I ate three times a day plus 2 snacks. Keep in mind you should also still be sipping all day to get your 64oz of fluids in. For me everything consumed counted towards the 64oz since it was all liquids. I hope this helps.
  23. I also would use turkey bacon. It looks yummy once I can eat lettuce.
  24. I figured I like cheese and I like pb, so why not? lol ... it really was tasty with the cheddar.
