Sosewsue61 reacted to Dr-Patient in I am 5 years out. I was down to 142 from 245 and now at 169. I am wanting to get down
Hi. I'm like you: Now 5.5 yrs post-op and I've gained ~ 25 pounds. I am so bummed and am really having a hard time getting back to protein only, or succeeding at the liquid restart. Grr. Ghrelin--that ugly warrior. I've even thought about getting a revision/re-do, but I'll see how I do July-August. Even if I stay away from the white carbs, I find myself eating fast and grazing often. Maybe try to avoid the rice, even; the starch/carbs. Let's keep in touch; helpers one to another at this stage. Good luck to you!! Pray for me! :-)

Hang in there. It improves. Try sf popsicles, and many of us drink right up to 10 minutes before eating, it's more important to have the 30 minutes after the meal. At five weeks you still need protein shakes and bone broth. Anesthetic takes awhile to leave the body and you are in recovery from major surgery give it time to get your energy back, it took me awhile. Also hormones are out of whack and can cause your mood to be down. Take naps, try to get more liquid in.

Take heart, you state that you do not feel 'womanly' - could this be that you are just used to associating the term womanly with large curves or prominent curves? Our eyes and minds deceive us all the time.
Have you shopped for some new/used clothes yet? I find shopping and getting some new makeup uplifting. I wear a spanx bra/cami all-in-one and find a little smoothing makes my silhouette look a lot better, and keeps the 'girls' in place better. The fat will shift around a lot during this process and you are younger and some of the skin will retract. I am an old broad, so I will resort to plastic surgery.
Get some therapy for awhile, it may help. And you are not done yet, give your mind some time to catch up to the improved you.

That's good news that your pouch is functioning. Just go back to the basics, start eliminating the trigger foods, take all your vitamins, start walking. Come on here for support, there is a veteran's forum, check it out. Good luck.

Chill. You have barely begun the journey, just concentrate on following the program, healing, resting, and hydrating. Develop a hobby for Pete's sake to take your mind off yourself. This is a long road, the rest of your life. You will be fine. Trust the process.

Sosewsue61 reacted to sillykitty in I wonder if I'll be dissatisfied when I get to goal?
I've recently been thinking the same thing. I'm 30 lbs away from goal, so it is feeling more real. Will I be happy at 140? Will that be too high or too low? Where are these additional 30 lbs come from? I want to keep my butt, but lose my tummy, but what if the opposite happens?

Sosewsue61 got a reaction from GreenTealael in I wonder if I'll be dissatisfied when I get to goal?
I am sure all my lumps and bumps will not look anything like what my mind pictures! My mind just lies all the time to me anyway...lol
BUT I am already pretty happy with being able to FEEL lighter on my feet, fit into smaller clothes, etc. I think I will be satisfied, and especially after some 'nip/tuck', more like 'slash/extract/add/stretch/stitch' lol but anyway even that will not make all the internal parts 18 again, so any improvement will be just fine.

See, I had to check on that nakedness in Panera myself, lol. You look great, we all have those nekkid skin issues.I will need major ps. I did read that it can improve with time. My old Weight Watchers leader said hers smoothed out alot after 6 years. At my age I'm not waiting 6 years to find out. Do whatever you need to to make yourself more comfortable even if it's more slicing n dicing.

I am still learning to slow down my eating. Yesterday's nutritious grilled chicken salad came up cuz I ate too damn fast.

Oww. I still cannot eat much beef, even ground beef just does not sit well - feels so 'harsh' for lack of a better description.

Sosewsue61 got a reaction from XYZXYZXYZ1955 in My surgery is tomorrow and I’m going to cancel. I just don’t think I’m strong enough
You are not your friend, you are freaking out. You do not have the same pathology as your friend either. We all freak out, come down from the ledge. Take a deep breath, and think logically. This surgery is easier than a gall bladder surgery, being obese will affect your quality of life, think of the original decision to do this in the first place. Then if you still want to cancel, just postpone it until you can go to therapy and figure it all out. And you don't have to leave the forums. Good luck.

Sosewsue61 reacted to Creekimp13 in Hello everyone, I am 8 months out. I work for a doctor's office. My only real concern
If your nurse practitioner works for your bariatric group, listen to her and follow her instructions precisely. If not...get a consultation with the people who did your surgery and follow their instructions precisely. Don't mess around with your health on message boards...see someone qualified and experienced with bariatric cases.

Sosewsue61 reacted to Berry78 in Hello everyone, I am 8 months out. I work for a doctor's office. My only real concern
It would be helpful if you would give an idea of what you are eating, and how much exercise. You have lost an extraordinary amount of weight to this point, so based on that, I'm inclined to believe your CNP is potentially on the right track. We have a tough job, limiting calories, while getting the nutrition we need to keep our health up.
What does a typical day look like for you?
