  1. Thanks for the kind words, all!!
As as far as diet advice, during rapid weight loss I followed my surgeons plan to a T. I just kept losing and losing. I got to 10 lbs below goal (my goal weight was 163 lbs) and started adding back in some complex carbs to stop the weight loss. I've been in the 150-153 lbs range ever since.
FWIW, I still can't eat 4 oz in one sitting. I usually max out at around 6 bites of anything. I still eat high Protein, moderate fat, low carb - usually 50 or less carbs per day - and I count total carbs, not net carbs. During rapid weight loss I stuck to less than 15 per day.
I eat around 1,000 calories a day, sometimes a few extra if it's a long run or heavy workout day. I eat mostly protein and veggies, with an occasional serving of quinoa or a slice of sprouted whole grain toast with PB2 in the morning.
I cook every morning, pack lunches for myself and my husband, and also cook dinner every night. I've learned how to use herbs and spices to flavor my food and I really do enjoy cooking delicious and unique meals - we don't do boring, lol.
Oh, and I still only drink Water, one 6 oz cup of coffee every morning, and dry red or white wine.
All of this is my day to day norm, obviously - but if we have a date night, I'll eat a few bites of my husband's Pasta, or we'll share some cheesecake moderation is the spice of life!

This is great to know. My surgeon told me to up my calories after a stall (I'm 6 weeks post op) and told me I could add some veggies and whole grains but I'm nervous about carbs. They always stall me. Broke my stall after increasing calories (750-1000 ( depending on activity and nothing but water. I'm down 30 lbs so far. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

  2. Thank You! I'm drinking 64oz a day. My Protein is between 85-95 a day. I just have this fear that I won't lose anymore. I'm glad it's a normal occurrence. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. It has to come off eventually! I also have a sugar free fudgesicle each night. My calories are never over 600. Do you think the sugar free treats caused the stall??

  4. I've been actually looking for a nutritionist / dietician that specializes in post VSG. Since our eating is different. I spoke with one at my job and they were basically saying I should eat the "pyramid" and not be so restrictive. I just feel like they didn't quite get it. They were saying since I workout I also should be eating 60-80 grams of carbs per day [emoji15] NOT GONNA HAPPEN. But I'm gonna keep searching I know there's one around that can lead me in the right direction. Because feeling like my sleeve is broke just breaks my heart. Thanks for posting ur response; I needed to hear that.

You're welcome sweetie. Keep looking. Even of you can do an online consult with a VSG nutritionist. You can so this!

  5. I researched a head of time. I know the requirements. Double checked with insurance and with surgeon. Finally completed the 6 month weigh ins as a monitored weight loss program with the primary care. Completed numerous tests and had a tentative surgery date scheduled then I got the call from my surgeons office saying they received a denial. Luckily the team is on top of things and called the insurance to ask why. They were told it was not deemed medically necessary. Even though they provided a letter stating it was. So I called my insurance and was told I was denied because I had no proof of excersize. I submitted the forms signed monthly by my dr with notes that included weights and calorie diet etc.... so I told my dr office that all I had was a fitness diary I kept, my dr advised me to do this in se months ago. So I'm wondering if anyone else has fad to go through anything like this and have they had better luck with the second submission? I'll be dropping off my journal at my surgeons office. They said they would fax copies and add another letter expressing how it is medically necessary. Fingers crossed...

    Did you finally get approved??
