Phys evaluation
I would say my experience was similar to everyone else's. 300 questions and an interview. Yada, yada. It went smoothly. Mostly because I told her what she wanted hear. yup. Sue me. Didn't work out that way for my friend. I guess she was more honest about herself because now the shrink is holding her back because of her "Anger issues". She's completed her 6-month requirements but the shrink won't ok the surgery. Pretty messed up. My friend is like "hell yeah I'm angry. I'm not even a quarter through my life expectancy, yet I feel like I'm 80, with aching limbs and a weak body" She feels her anger is what motivated her to begin this process in the first place. I feel so badly for her because she started this process months before me, yet I'll end up having the surgery before she does. Glad I didn't open my skull to that women. The only sleeve I'd see then is the sleeve of a straight jacket lol

I switched from Molina because of the 12-month requirement to BCBS. I'm 2 months into my 6 months wait.

Baby Food?
Ugh no way! I'm on WIC and I get many jars of meat for my baby. They all taste like how cat food smells. In fact I ended up giving them to my cats. They balked at first. Had to mix it up with dry cat food. I wouldn't even give it away. The rest went in my composter. Needless to say I won't be buying that ever again. Just make your own. It's so much better. Good luck, you've got this!

Rewards?
Same! My dream is to have huge dragon wings on my back. Also patches of scales in various places. I'll also get a ring with my family crest tattooed on my left ring finger. I dislike jewelry of all kinds. Except for fake piercings.

Did you have to exercise up to 2hrs and 15mins or equivalent it to 5000 steps everyday to be cleared by your psych?
My shrink didn't say anything of the sort! My Physical Therapist did mention 5000 steps, but only as a requirement, I've taken to heart. It's not mandatory for surgery at all. You should talk to the rest of your team about this.

Resleeved
All I've read from vets here on this forum is that your stomach can't stretch the way we think it can. So a sleeve wouldn't need. I've read you can stretch the opening or exit (or something like that). They certainly can't stretch back to pre-surgery stomach. Whatever happens, believe in yourself, and love yourself (cheesy I know) you've got this! Goodluck!

What foods and ingredients can't you live without?
This. I love highly seasoned food. None or hardly any salt is needed if it's seasoned right! I'm starting my first ever garden and peppers are high on the list!

When I say jump....
So Thursday has come and gone but I'm here now ain't I? Don't roll your eyes, I can see you know -.- anyway....Last Tuesday I saw the Shrink. Nice lady, lousy session. Ok, ok it wasn't that bad honestly. I filled out a two long, yes, no, maybe, type questions. One paper, the other electronic. They reminded me of those test you do when applying for shitty jobs. You know the ones that ask if you've ever taken a pen, or how many farts do you produce a day and what color are they? Well unlike the job tests I decided to be 100% truthful with my responses. So yeah I've taken a pen or 6, and you can go tell Sheila in HR that I did it! I can't WAIT for my next appointment with the Shrink in a months time. She'll confirm I'm bat **** cray cray, but not enough to deny me surgery I'm sure. The following Wednesday was even more eventful. I saw both the Nutritionist and the Exercise coach. Those both went really well. Both ladies were judgment free and friendly. They didn't say anything I didn't already know from years of dieting and exercise but they said it well. I've gotten confirmation that no matter how much weight II'll lose between now and my surgery, they will still submit my first BMI of 41 to my insurance. Which for me is essential because I have no comorbidities, in fact, all my blood work came back perfect. Except for my calcium which was a little low. So besides from being MORBIDLY OBESE, I'm the picture of perfect health. That being said. Looking at the shape of my family, I'd give myself 10 years before everything starts going to hell. I think I have youth on my side, but once I'm 36 and decrepit I'll have wished I had the surgery 10 years ago. Since they are going to keep my 41 bmi I'm excited to start following their pre-surgery recommendations. My goal is to lose at LEAST 20lbs between now and surgery. I've got this!

27 year old female. Surgery planned for August 2017.
Oh snap, congrats! I hope my surgery will be in august as well. September at the latest. I found out my clinic will my 41 bmi to my insurance company no matter how much I lose before surgery. Now I'm excited and plan to lose at least 20lbs. Can't wait until we're ALL on the losers bench!

BMI Approval
Quick question. After my 6 months medical weight loss plan, will my insurance go by new bmi, or will they go with from my very first weight in at the start? Thnaks!

Sip Sip Sip ... Not Me !!
I'm no expert at ALL. Take anything I say with a grain of rice. All I can think to say is don't try to "test" your tool. I'm saying this out loud for me as well. I feel like if I were in your situation I'd try testing to see just how much I could eat or something. That would surely lead me back to the dark side lol

Long Story Short
Hi, I'm Deborah and I'm addicted to food. My addiction has led me to obesity. I was an overweight newborn and an overweight child, and I'm an overweight adult. Sure my upbringing played a role, but I can't place the lion share of the blame on my family. I know that I overeat, I know that I shouldn't eat the things I do. I could probably write a terrible book on nutrition. I've starved on all the diets, choked down all the pills. Yet here I am. 261lbs. Enough is enough! I've started treatment at the Beaumont Weight Control Center in Michigan. I am strongly considering Gastric Bypass. I've already attended my first appoint. I have six months of mandatory treatment which I have no problem with. I need to take this time to prepare both physically in emotionally. I have so many plans and goals. I'll be using this blog to help me stay focused and motivated. This blog will discuss my personal feelings. Needless to say, idgaf if something offends (within the rules of the site of course), this is my "safe space". If you don't like to look to the upper left corner of your screen, there you will find the back button. I'm writing from the perspective of a 27 yeard old Black women, born and raised in the city of Detroit. I'm not the most articulate, or the highest educated, but I love to learn and to grow. I am however done growing sideways *smile*. Right now I'm spending my time reading this site. I have a PCP visit coming up, and my psych eval, NUT and exercise ed visit next week. When I post again I'm going to outline my health goals both short and long term. I'll also talk about how those visits went. Until then I'll hop around the forums, and start planning my heal vision board. More on that later. Until Thursday!

Haha, I left my winter boots, and clothes on as well. I'm also happy that my office rounds up weight and bmi. First time I've ever been happy about it.

I know what you mean. My insurance to requires 6 months documented weight loss attempt. My surgeon wants me to lose a minimum of 12lbs before the surgery. I'm like dude, in 6 months I can lose, and regain 12 lbs 6 times. Hell I could lose 50lbs in 6 months Then have regained 70 by 12. months. So right now I'm no going o concern or stress myself about those 12lbs. All I've done so far is cut out all soft drinks, drink 32 to 64 oz water a day. I also occasionally replace a lunch for a protein shake. Thankfully my insurance doesn't require me to lose a weight. So far I'm maintaining my current weight, I'll keep doing this for the nest 3 months, then I'll seriously work on the 12lbs *eye roll* I could probably take a good shit and lose 12 lbs lol jk

Michigan Medicaid
You go girl! I couldn't imagine doing my surgery so soon. I do wish my insurance required 3 months instead of 6 though. I think 3 months would be a good time for to wrap my head around everything. Commit to lifelong changes, and start building my new wardrobe. Ah well, I'll be able to accomplish all that in more at 6 months. I just hope my surgeon isn't in demand so I can get in quickly once my time comes. Keep us updated ThickGirl

Michigan Medicaid
I'm still on the fence about my surgery type. On one hand I feel like I'll need the dumping, but on another I have a long term goal of getting into some amateur weight lifting, and I'm just not sure I can when dealing with malabsorption and all that jazz. I won't get to see my surgeon until I'm 3 months out, but I'll be sure to ask him that.

Smart, I should start logging as well. May as well start now, since it's something I'll want to do for at least the first 6 months after my surgery. I'll most likely continue even beyond. Which surgery did you choose?
