Just a quick update. I started back on track about 10 days ago. I forgot how amazing I feel when I eat right and get my Water in. The first 3 or 4 days were hard coming off sugar and caffeine but I don't want it anymore. Yay! Doing the pantry purge helped so much. For anyone who read this post because they had lost their way it's ok you will find your way back. Start small and the rest will fall into place. You got this!!!!

Thank you for such a through response. This really helped to remind me that I do not want my old body back! I worked so hard to get here and I don't want to go back. EVER. It sounds like you have some great habits in place! I may borrow a few. Thanks!

    Hey guys!
At my heaviest I was 363 and 1 year post op this summer I was down to 197. I worked so hard to get there and fought for every single pound lost! At my one year appointment my surgeon told me to be happy at 197 and accept it if I gained some back. Looking back I think I took this as permission to slack off instead of being proud of where I was. Now I am up to between 208-215 and I can't seem to find my way back. Anyone have suggestions on what got them back on track or kept their determination going? I need some motivation about now! I will find some before and after pictures to post. Any kind advise would be appreciated

It probably took me about 6 months to personally notice. Looking back I know I missed all of the little changes. I will never forget calling my husband in tears because I was crossing my legs without even noticing! It seems so small but it was huge. I still keep some old clothes around for days I need a reminder of just how far I've come. Remember to enjoy the small victories like walking up a flight of stairs without pain. A year from now you will be a whole new person! You got this!

Just a few hours ago I was at my therapy session, it’s a crucial aspect for me in this journey to deal with my love of food and alcohol. Anywho, as we were talking I had my leg crossed without realizing it and when I noticed I told her, “well damn, look at that I haven’t been able to do this in years” it was a great moment 😁

I did my pantry purge first thing this morning! New day new start! The dogs thought they hit the lottery! Now to go out and fill my home with only healthy foods again. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I love that you are aware that today you like your reflection. A body to value. I try to ask what my body needs - more times than not it is a glass of Water. Absolutely my water consumption as the first thing that tends to slide.

I’m back to spin class tomorrow after a 1.5 month break. Hope I don’t die. 😂😂

Also- when I started working out, I weighed about 380lbs. I highly recommend doing a few sessions with a personal trainer if you can swing it financially. They ensure proper form and help you prevent injury... also, and this is super helpful for people of size, they should be able to modify the exercises to your physical abilities.

I’m trying to get back on my workout game. I feel like I say this a lot. My better half is in SF this week for work, so I’m trying to use this time to get back in my routine.

I’m four weeks out of surgery. I’ve lost 20 lbs but feel like weight loss is slow. I start working out tomorrow.

Hey y'all! Anyone and everyone is welcome to jump in and join us.
This is the Intermittent Fasting DAily Menu/Results/Accountability Thread. It's where a few of us (or many) are going to log in and encourage each other while we experiment with our own IF plans. You can list or talk about anything--not just your food. I look forward to adding in HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and core exercises to my walking plan while practicing IF. So expect to hear about that too. hehe I expect some of us will talk about the known IF side-effects like insomnia, circadian rhythm disturbance, etc. It's all good! Let's hack this IF mofo! mkay?
There is not any 1 specific IF plan--there are so many to choose from, so this is a BYOIFP (bring-your-own-IF-plan) and join the fun! This is the thread where we'll post our daily menus and maybe some piccys at times! We can discuss progress, issues we might notice, look at how we may want to refine our own personal plans. I do think you should be healed from surgery and have your doctor's and RD's blessings to try something like this and you should do a ton of research and reading about Intermittent Fasting.
IF isn't only about weight loss, it's about taking specific measures to limit either quantities, calories, macros, or sometimes only consciously altering eating windows/schedules in order to effect metabolic change and reduce inflammation and improve health markers.
    Ok, let's do this thang!!!

I am the same way- I always enjoy some sugary starch like a croissant or cookie with my coffee and that is my biggest trigger. I'm going to do a pantry purge tonight as soon as I get home and I'm going to try the pouch reset idea for the next 10 days. Hopefully, that will help me get into the restrictive and healthy mindset to really get back to my healthy habits.

Thank you so much and good luck!

In order- there is no easy way to get rid of the carb sugar cravings (in my opinion) other than going cold turkey and just doing it. Suck it up. Don't eat anything more than 10g carb per serving and go back to logging your food. Everytime you want something sweet, drink Water or crystal light. Make sure you are getting at least 100 ounces of water a day.
Personal trainer - yes. Accountability. If you have paid for it and have someone tailoring a plan for your needs, that is the best thing. Group accountability is great too - some kind of class where people will make you accountable if you don't show up. (I do a cross fit type class - if one of the 7 of us is out - we know and often worry that they are sick, etc. If they just miss, we bust their butt about it.)
Get back in the gym. Now. Abs are made in the kitchen but perfected in the gym. You want those clothes to fit better, start doing some resistance training. Get some cardio in.
    You got this.
