STUPID f'n band! what is WRONG!!!
Hi all, I'm reading this all with a lot of interest because I am constantly coughing and trying to clear out mucus in my throat. Sometimes, it's so bad that I'm swallowing hard and it gets scary. Always after I eat.

I cancelled my surgery this morning...
I wish you all the best. I think the band should be the last option, if you've tried it all without success. I can lose weight easily, but I NEVER keep it off. THAT is my real battle. Hunger always wins and I regain it back. The band for me, will prevent that (please god!) Best wishes for your health!

Poll - Heavy Handed Moderators
ROFL!!! I have to admit, there are a few people on the board now that seem to be very negative and love to hear themselves talk. Unfortunetly, it's at US. My theory is that we don't get this big for no reason. food was/is our medication for many reasons, so we see some "interesting" people, emotional, angry and dysfunctional posting going on. Some may take offense for that assumption, but I feel that hits pay dirt so pfffft. :^p

E-mail Petitions
Actually, my senator rocks so very much, thank you. I'm speaking of the website petitions, like the one at say, HSUS to stop the horse slaughter, which we did stop through those petitions. I also write to my congressmen, senators, etc personally, but I will also sign legit petitions. Every little bit helps. TOM , your a jaded character. ;^p The ones that come through the email that you sign your name to at the end?No.

E-mail Petitions
I have to disagree, I sign those petitions, because believe it or not, some of them do get the word out and things get passed. I know a senator and he says things like that actually do make a difference at times, depending on who is behind them and what they do with the force of names. SO keep signing people! The only way we change things here in the US or elsewhere is to mass together, and those things help facilitate that in a way. But I HATE those "send this to 20 friends in 5 minutes and you'll get a wish" things. Gah. It's like my friend's brains flashed back to the 8th grade for a moment, when they send those to me. It's like getting handed a note: "DO YOU LIKE ME? CIRCLE YES OR NO AND PASS THIS BACK" heh.

Please Help
I had that feeling. I still have a bit of it now too if I eat too much/too fast. I think in the begining, your esophagus is freaking out a little. You could also have some irritation from the tube they stick down your throat during surgery.

How dare she!!!
First of all, I agree with those who say speak up. "Taking the high ground??" Speaking out and taking a against cruelty in all it's forms is not lowering ourselves. As Maya Angelou said, it's your responsibility to speak up for yourself. (and others) WE MUST LET SOCIETY KNOW THIS BEHAVIOR WILL NO LONGER BE TOLERATED. And you do that by speaking out. ACTION in some form. Be it discrimination, animal abuse, rudeness, whatever it is that is a form of cruelty upon another being. Thank god for the "peaceful warriors" in our society, those are the people who change things.

How dare she!!!
I would write the corporate address that you can find via the web. They will forward it to the district manager for the area. Tel them you were shopping for your daughter and they assumed you, a "fat woman" was looking at clothing for yourself (heaven forbid!)you were basically told you were not wanted in there because of your size. Explain when you asked to speak to the manager, you got the eye roll from the sales associate and no apology from the manager. That will light a fire under their ass. Here you go. Go get them.. http://www.supre.au.com/(jtponq55ez5vznuv1n4cwi3r)/Contact.aspx?pid=7

I Can Eat a Whole Sandwich...
THANK YOU ALL for your responses. My god, what would I do without you people??? I am eating PB&J on whole wheat, egg salad, soy burger or grilled cheese as my sandwich. No, I'm not losing weight. :-(
-
Long term reflux?
I know, it's getting ridiculous. I am really concerned why I can eat a full sized sandwich after being so swollen just a few weeks ago after my first fill.

I Can Eat a Whole Sandwich...
Yikes. I have no idea what's going on. I really have no idea what is normal, etc.

Infecting threads
I was wondering why the poster Brooklyn was posting about some argument I know nothing about in poor Steve Irwin's memorial thread. It ticked me off and you all know it's hard to tick me off, but I mean really, have some sensitivity and tact, not everyone is following or cares about the arguments here. It's. not. all. about. you. Even if your angry, please be considerate of others that have nothing to do with whatever is going on.

I Can Eat a Whole Sandwich...
...until I feel somewhat full. Is that normal? I have 1.5 cc's in a 4 cc band. Just got the fill last month with a lot of swelling afterwards. I'd appreciate any input and thank you in advance.

What A Croc: Croc Hunter Killed!!
p.s. What I think some don't realize is his "unconventional ways" brought attention, interest, education and money to the animals he featured which no one would care about otherwise. See what he has to say about that here: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwxQyhIbhAk]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwxQyhIbhAk[/ame] Steve temporarily "charged" into their habitats, but he also used his money to buy up a whole bunch of land to preserve as is in addition to restoring the land in Australia Zoo to become the animals' habitats. Steve put his money and fame where his mouth was and his heart was full of compassion for animals and wildlife. His was a minimum, temporary disturbance. Handling a snake will anger it minutes but he never harmed one and always sent it right back on its way. In exchange for that the snake's species and habitat gets massive amounts of attention it otherwise wouldn't have gotten. He has said his main goal is to take those animals made horrible by bad human PR and save them from extinction, his main passion was to show people that animals are wonderful and not to want to kill them out of fear, no matter how deadly the animal. I think that is maybe why he took so many chances. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwxQyhIbhAk][/ame] I'm an animal activist, PETA member, vegetarian. Steve did not harm the animals. Did he bug them? Yes. What did it get in exchange? Screentime and a chance for viewers to be educated and learn about that animal, which in turn can only benefit both humans and animals. Steve is probably single handedly responsible for de-mystifying crocodiles as big evil creatures. And that's the first step in conservation: people don't want to save endangered animals they think are evil predators. So is being held for five minutes and in no way being harmed physically worth the trade off of preserving a species and its habitat? Hell yes. Those that may stumble into the thread and not like Steve Irwin to consider these facts and also ask that you respect that some of us are very much effected by his death and in mourning for him, and be kind to us in that regard. I for one am still crying over it.

What A Croc: Croc Hunter Killed!!
Jesus, this is so sad. ANyone ever see the footage of him crying over his dog he had to put down, Mary the croc (see [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx0VjZ3Kn-A]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx0VjZ3Kn-A[/ame]) or the baby elephant one too, and how broken up be became because it was orphaned by poachers and struggling to live. He began to cry as it feebly touched his face with it's trunk. I cried too! (it died a month later and he was stricken over it) Or the footage of him hearing about a lost diver and taking all his resources during a shoot to find the diver (and he did!) It's hard to lose someone who has such a heart, it really is. I've been thrown into a depression all week over this. We need people like this in the world. I hope the kids go on to carry out his work, because that really was his goal for them and his passion. From what I read, ray's are docile, but a big male was spooked by the camera. The barb on the bottom of a stingray's tail is rarely fatal, it hit his heart making it a freak accident. They said if it hit anywhere else, he just would be in a lot of pain. What luck. Someone who did things for the planet and it's inhabitants dies and others who think nothing of others still walk around. It just sucks. This is going to sound looney to some, but he was a champion for animals and the enviroment, I think of it as a gift from the animal world to him, to die like this. A croc killing him would be terrifying and painful. This way was gentle and quick. We all have to die someday, so this his time, it was by an animal and it was swift. Not horrific like a croc, and not some dottering old man wasting away in a bed. Kind of like nature saying thanks to a favorite son.

Long term reflux?
Hey Seppi, My systoms lessen when I eat very very slowly and lightly. Weird thing is I can now eat a whole sandwhich. Is that a normal portion for a 1.5 cc in a 4 band???? I'm so afriad I have a slip or something. I was all set to see the doc today when I got it in my head to call and confirm my appointment. (It's an hour drive for me) SO I call on my cell and found out my appointment was canceled and no one called. That's twice in a row my appointment has been canceled. So I still don't have any answers to offer you (or myself).

I really NEED some answers
Coffee and dairy does that to me. Especially the dairy, very hard on my digestive system.

Poll - Heavy Handed Moderators
Ha! Your so right! By the way, I missed it, who was banned and why?
-
Poll - Heavy Handed Moderators
As a mod of another board I have a three strikes and your out policy. And then I ban their ISP. Having people fight and flame others (and it's always the same people too) or break the other rules are disruptive to a support board. Some people love that drama, but I've seen many good people leave them, or have them go under for letting people do whatever they want. So I vote ban them if they keep breaking the rules.

Long term reflux?
I seem to produce a lot of mucus too. I have never PB'd, just get mucusy and the weird throat stuff. I'm not sleeping well due to this and my throat feels weird while sleeping and waking up in the morning. I've been on Protonix for a month now though. Did Dr. Abkin prescribe the Nexium or did you go to the gastro? Yea, Nino is good, but I hardly get him. Quite often I'm put on hold and after 5 minutes I call back and they don't even remember they had me on hold...they just forgot about me. This happens to me almost every time I've called.
-
Long term reflux?
Hi Seppi, I have no answers for you. The office is a busy one (too busy if you ask me) and so I'm just not sure what, when or how to tell you the truth. I am very concerned with what Geezersue speaks of and the article. The dismobility. I would love to get this problem solved and fixed, AND keep my band, because the band is and will work for me if my throat will cooperate. Does your throat feel odd when your sleeping or when you wake up?? People have also noticed that I am constantly clearing my throat.

I'm new....just wanted to warn you
I'm so sorry this happened to you. And at the risk of getting people ticked off at me, agree that no one should have it done in Mexico unless they live very close by it. I just think of my own trips back and forth to my doctor when issues have come up, or for support meetings, etc. and can't imagine living hundreds or thousands of miles away. The band needs so much supervision by the doctor, I think it's not the wisest choice to go to Mexico for this surgery.

Anyone's Throat Feel Weird?
Thanks for your support MBPRN, I appreciate it. It helps to know your not alone , as you go through this stuff, especially since no one around us really understands the band except for the banded. BJEAN, I'm glad I could help you out in any way. This board is great for that. I was on here for a year before banding gleaning the info just as you are. The journels are good for that too.
