Left Shoulder Pain
Anyone else get pain in the left shoulder after eating? It's not gas, and it's not my gallbladder (I don't have one) and it's only been happening since I got the band. I was told a long time ago that the nerve into the right shoulder is the gallbladder and into the left the stomach. It hurts when I move and can't bend over. Very painful. The it goes away if i don't eat for a while. Anyone else experience this?

Banded, Confused, and Bummed Out...Should I Remove It?
I could have signed my name to the end of your post. I've had my band for a year and only a 15 lb loss and that was from the surgery. I have not lost anything on my own. I do the same things as you do. Someone suggested I go to an overeaters anonymous meeting. Please keep me updated as I'm in the same boat.

Catastrophic Slippage
Ih my gosh,...Omamoon! So frightening. Thank god your okay. I have not been following all the rules, and this serves as a reminder. DO you think it was caused from being too tight or the tightness was from the slip?

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
Good idea.Warm liquids for the day and mushies when it calms down. Thank you! Mary and Jack:Thanks for your support. With restriction it has shocked me how hard it is for food to go down. It was so easy before! Boo-Boo Kitty: No, I should go to my support group, but it's an hour away. But I will start I think. Although the board is great, I think I need to add that in.

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
Hey all, just to update you all. I have PB'd every day since the fill. Twice yesterday and I'm so sore in my band area. I'm not sure if I am too tight or not chewng slow enough, etc. I've never really had good restriction, so I don't know what is what.

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
Hi all!! From the responses and PM's I'm getting, it seems I am not alone in this issue. Just to update...man am I tight! I never knew what it was like, always able to eat what I wanted and gulp liquids, that I PB's Water I gulped last night! Now I know what you all talked about in the "sip, sip, sip". I never had to do that. Now, if I have a leak, I'm assuming I will lose this tightness before substantial weight is lost, correct? Thanks for the reminder Alex, that is hard for me too.

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
I went for my second fill today and he said I was wide open. He also said he filled it up to as much as I can take. I have not lost any weight since my last fill, so where is my fill going???????? Another "fill-ee" waiting in the room asked me how I was doing . She said she has lost 50 lbs and can't eat bread, Pasta, red meat. I told her I can eat ANYTHING.

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
THANK YOU all! It's so good to know I'm not the only one who experiences this. I see so many success stories, and people losing so much weight the first year. Jack, go ahead and send me a PM. Thank you! :-)

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
Hi Renebean, Thanks so much for your support. I have had a few PB's. It's due to my not chewing well enough or eating too fast. So there is restriction. But I never feel full. How can I be PBing but not feel full??

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
Hey all, I'm really, really down. In March it will be my 1st anniversary with banded life. I'm only down 15 lbs. I got off to a rocky start due to Medicare not paying for my fill until 6 months later. I'll be going for my second fill this week. The fill tschedule did not help, I know but also an issue is that I am out of control with what I am eating. I'm eating poorly. Bad choices. I have NO discipline when it comes to eating the right and wrong things. People say "Just do it" "don't eat the junk", but it's impulsive, compulsive for me. I'm a junk food junkie. Granted, i went through a severe depression for a large chunk of the year, but Doctors, friends and family are disappointed in my weight loss and so am I. I did this for my physical and mental health. My cholesterol is very high, asthma, GERD, etc. I was so very much hoping this band would help me lose weight. I'm also concerned that I will do my esophagus and band harm because of poor choices in eating. Any support would be great. :help:

Band erosion
Pauliegirl, I'm so sorry to hear of this. When was your last check up with Dr. Bertha/Abkin before you found this out? Did you have any symptoms? nanaholmes experience scares the beejebus out of me. I didn't realize an erosion could put someone in ICU.

Complications Arm/shoulder
I have this too! I was banded in March. I know from my training that it's a nerve connected to the stomach/diaphram area. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one!

Bad PB - Chances of slippage?
Hi Gayle! It was on salmon. I was ravenous and ate it too quickly and did not chew enough. Yow! Sipping tea right now and it feels so good.

Bad PB - Chances of slippage?
Hey everybody, I had a bad PB today - first time. I am worried about band slippage, and the area is sore right now. What should I be looking out for, any warning signs, etc...? Thanks in advance for any input. P.S. Major slime out of my nose.

Dilation, Fill Questions and Story So Far...
Hi all! I'm really confused about my band. I have about 2cc's in a 4cc band. I was banded in March. Have lost 20 lbs. I had my second fill last month. I'm very concerned about dilating my pouch because I can eat about 1 1/2 to 2 cups of food easily. I also have no food restrictions, I can eat anything.Although I'm doing better after that second fill, I'm still hungry too. My doctor had me see the nurtionist before allowing me to get my second fill because I did not lose any more weight since my March banding. This confused me as well. With just one small fill since March, isn't it reasonable that I had not lost weight? After going over my menu, I was allowed to get the second fill. Now I am thinking I need another fill to get it right, but as I said, I'm fearful of dilation because I can each what i can now. I don't know what is normal. What should real restriction feel like? And how much should I be eating to feel satiated??? How often are you supposed to get a fill until you get proper restriction?

Too Tight or is This Band-Life?

Too Tight or is This Band-Life?
Hello everyone, I got my second fill 3 weeks ago, and for the first time have restriction, so I'm not sure what is normal or not normal. Upon waking in the morning, I have to sip liquids or they "hang" a bit. Hot tea is what I drink and that goes down fine. I can't eat anything solid until lunch, after a few cups of tea. In the evenings, I can eat fine. Is this too tight or just normal band weirdness??

First PB
Your right, it's defo a different kind of vomiting. "Sick vomiting" is the worst. I really hate it.
-
First PB
p.s. I already ate a somewhat solid dinner, I hope that doesn't mess things up too much?

First PB
Hey all, I had my second fill last week. I have restriction for the first time and still getting use to it. Before it was as if I had'nt a band...now it's a whole different story!! I was hungry this morning and ate too fast. I had my first PB. AT first I felt a hrrible pressure and could feel the food trying to move into the stomach. It came in waves and I would burp, find a second of relief until it tried again. Finally, up it came. Now, what is the protocol after a PB? Anything I need to do? Thank you.
