SO sorry to hear you have this worry. Most of the time it is benign. Fibroids etc that get worse with periods and caffiene. I am also having a biopsy done in a few weeks, but of my uterus. So I pray for you too as I can relate to how frightening it is. I JUST READ THE REST OF THE THREAD, I had just read the first post..lol YIPPPEEE!! Great feeling when it's nothing!! Good for you for being so vigilant about your breat exams.
  2. No Tidge, your not alone! Just take it slow. I was on liquids for an extra week than other people and mushies for an extra TWO WEEKS than everyone else. We just are more swollen than the next person. Also, time your bites. Put the fork down 30-60 seconds and make those bites small. It will help with the pain and speed the swelling to go down. Good news is you may be like me and not need a fill for a while because of being naturally tight.
  3. Thanks to all of you. I had GERD AND gastritis before the band, and have always taken the prescription antacids to prevent further damage. Part of the reason I had the surgery was to get my weight down so I could hopefully get off of it. My GERD did not start until I hit 200 lbs, but I have always had gastritis.
  4. How long have you been out of surgery? I felt like that for 2 months out. And it happens still because I was eating too fast. (or too much) Before banding I shoveled huge amounts in. SO I thought I was slowing down (by MY standards) but it was not slow enough for the band. What worked for me is actually timing mouthfulls. I would put the fork down and wait 30 seconds or a minute between bites. I had to time myself because I had no clue was "band slow" was.
  5. Tidge, your welcome, check this thread out, maybe something in it will be of help: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16524 Hi Chabutter! After the liquid phase, I lived on veggie Soups, mashed potatoes, refried Beans and Protein drinks. I used a new lactose free milk called Skim Plus, because it has twice the protien. Check this thread out: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14783
  6. hmm... I wonder why mine is so bad then? I do have gastritis too.
  7. Hey Tidge, I'm over two months out and that pain has just gone away recently. It was bad for the first month. I was very swollen and my stomach yelled more than the next person I guess. But I will get that pain even now if I eat or drink too fast and two much. Counting 30 seconds to a minute between bites/sips helped as did antacids.
  8. LOL you two. :-) Thank you for your concern and prayers. I just hope everything is on the upswing. EVERYTHING in my life, including my health. That is why I did this.
  9. oh my gosh, DonnaB...that is amazing. I've very much into that myself. (not the making, but the wearing) Your stuff is really good. I'm just amazed at Josie and Plunderbunny's talent too. Here is some of my artwork. I paint in oils and make prints and jewelry out of it too. I'm also doing a portrait for Jimmy Page. It's not finished though. (Gah..still trying to get the images smaller. ...)
  10. desertmom, I'm so sorry to hear about this happening to you. I understand your wanting to keep the band to lose the weight you need, but please don't jeaporidize your health for it. I'm concerned about the placement of the band in your body. I hope you get answers to your abdomenal pain. Is it high or low etc?
  11. Gah! This really stinks. I've always had gastritis and acid reflux problems pre-band and now that band doctor doesn't want me on them, I'm in a lot of pain. Anyone else go on Acid Blockers long term after banding? Or pre-banding? I picked up the Prilosec OTC, Gaviscon too but it doesn't seem to be doing much. Any suggestions?
  12. Your welcome Mary. I was wondering about how you were doing with this. Glad to have helped. I know how frightening it was when I was losing my hair.
  13. Lovechunks, my recovery the first few weeks were rough like that too. I had no idea how people drank their water. Take a look at my threads in this forum. People posted a lot of great advice and that is what pulled me through.
  14. Thanks Decarla. I'm sorry you have that. I have read about it before. I have no idea how it got there, but it's freaking me out. I have a phobia about not being able to breathe and I hope I don't have some progressive lung problem. I worked for years in a cocktail lounge so I wonder if that is it? I also have very bad bronchitis one year as well. We do have new neighbors that moved into the apartment downstairs and they are heavy smokers. The smoke comes into our apartment and I have had to places fans, filters around and towels at the doors to block it out.
  15. Hey Bandlarians! Yesterday was my 2 month check uop with my band doctor. He was happy with my loss. However, he will not renew a prescription for Protonix, an acid blocker. I have been on prescription strength acid reducers since 2003 due to GERD and gastritis. He said I should not have to take them and if I still have acid then the band is not for me. I'm not agreeing with him. The reflux is not worse, it's the same it was before banding. Although I do understand his line of thought that they have side effects and I should not be on them long term. SO, here is my dilemma...I have been without a acid blocker for 3 days now and my stomach hurts without them. Always did. I'm looking for solutions and remedies. I am drinking aloe juice but need more.
  16. Teachntots, I guess we are the three amigos..lol I have slowed down considerably and it has helped, although my band seems to be very cranky were this is concerned.
  17. Oh cripes, Vines. :-( Do they feel the tumor is benign? If so, would the removal of it help your symptoms? You have been through so much with this. All I can do is send you Light and ask that you be healed and allowed to lose weight in a gentle, joyful way. At this stage in the game, your mom probably just wants her loved ones near. This is going to sound weird, but when my cat Daisy was dying in my arms, he said to me (I heard it in my mind) "It's all about the love mom, it's all about the love" over and over again. And it really is. I think this is what comes to us when we are near passing. I don't know if this can be done or if she would welcome it, but could you have a Reiki practioner come in and give her Reiki while you are there? Or someone to come in and gently rub her feet? I worked volunteered in hospice as a Reiki Master and massage therapist and those who were passing really found it comforting when I did that. Just a thought.
  18. You have no idea!! :-) Bless you all. Really. I'm off to bed now, I 'm exausted!
  19. Hey all, just got back. What a long day of tests. Port is fine, band is fine. They think my pain is from scar tissue and asthma. Thye said they saw a small scar on my left lung. ???! Thank you all for the prayers. While sitting in the Er I knew you guys were praying for me.
  20. Hey all, I'm headed to the Morristown ER now. My port area has gotten worse, (the aching) and the area hard and for some reason now my left lung is hurting me too. When I take in a deep breath everything hurts.SO called my doctor at 5 am, because I woke up feeling terrible and he said to go to the ER for a cat scan. Please say a prayer for me.:phanvan
  21. Hmmm I wonder if I have an infection.? I have a lot of port pain, but my scar is healed. I would think I'd have a fever??
  22. They are defo not lasting 30 min. :-o I'll slow down!!
  23. Anyone else have this? I get pain after eating in my port area and it wraps around and down into the left rib area. And I'm also having pain in the left chest area, by the sternum after eating. Am I eating too fast/too much?
  24. Wow. I'm really impressed with the work here. It's amazing the creative spark in people and how it comes out, etc. How can I attache a image to this post? I don't have URLs
  25. So do I Tricia! I wish we could get one of our 5 to sit still long enough to snap a picture. Cheri, I'm so glad I could give you a laugh..hehehehe In the band department, I'm doing much better. STill having port pain everyday though. Thanks for asking :-)
