  1. Hey jana. Im sorry 2 see that u r still disappointed about ur band. How much total weight have u lost?

I'm ok with my band....I'm just trying to adjust to what it wants me to do....I have lost 25 lbs since April 11th 2008....So...I guess thats ok. I had hoped to lose faster. But, I am dieting again, and it's much easier this time. Maybe I need another fill?? I have only had 2 so far. Thanks for your reply ;) Do you have your band yet? If so how much have you lost?

  2. Thanks to all who replied! Wow, I'm so glad to see that there are people like me out there....it makes this whole thing easier to accept. So...I guess the next step is to watch my intake as if I'm dieting again....BUT, it will be easier this time. We can and ARE making progress. Time is all we need now.

  3. Ok...So I JUST figured out that this thing aint just gonna work on its own. Very disappointing! I had my 2nd fill a week ago and am at 5 1/2 ccs....I am tighter at night than during the day so....I have to watch myself during the day....or I will eat every few hours. The lap band (for me) just makes it easier to diet..... Anyone else going through this? What have you all figured out? Anything similar?

  4. Sorry you had such a hard time. Sounds like you're doing good with the band though! Congratulations on all that weight loss. I had my band around the same time you did (4/11/08) and I've only lost 20 lbs ...But, I think if I didn't trust MY Dr. anymore I would go elsewhere for the fills. If he's some kind of hack he may puncture your band hose or something. It could be worth it to go ahead and pay someone else to do the fills. Thanks for your positive words to all of us...may your clothes do the same!;)

  5. Feeling much better everybody....Thanks for everybodys responses...Its been overwhelming seeing how many others went through (and are going through) the same horrible feeling. Thank you so much to everyone who responded to this, and to all the people who are having a hard time: I wish you all speedy recoveries ...But, it just took some time like you all said. But, I NEVER feel hungry. Thats a good thing right??? I wonder if I will ever feel hungry again???:)

  6. Sounds like it was too heavy---I would go back to clear liquids---Water consistency.....and let my stomach settle back down after this problem.

I know diets differ greatly, I was not allowed pudding cups for well over 2 weeks following surgery, so I really have nothing to base a response on.

Be very careful, your band needs time to seat itself, without your stomach working so hard.

    Hope you feel better soon.

    Kat

Thank you Kat...My doctor told me it was ok to have pudding and that he considered it a liquid... but, the more I get on here the more I notice I am in the minority eating pudding just yet. I will do what you said...and drink water....and stay away from pudding..Thank you

  7. 3 days post op- 11 days to go...and i am starving. My family is eating lasagna as I type this...will I make it through this? I have had minimal gas and site pain- it is all going very well! Except- STARVING! Uggggggggh! Any advice? Thanks all!:huh2:

Just wanted to say I am also 3 days post op and my hubbys eating NACHOS in there...I just went in the other room....THIS SUCKS!!

  8. Jana,

I think what you are feeling is completely normal. I think most of us went through a period of doubt or regret. This is brand new to your body, and it will take some adjustments on your part, but once you get to know your band, and your body is better healed, you will be fine! Hang in there!

Thanks for the encouragement...It feels good to know that this feeling WILL pass.

  9. the best advice would be just to take your pain medicine so the gas doesn't hurt so much, take it easy so you can recuperate, and sip your liquids slowly so you don't get too full too fast. you just had major surgery, so of course you're hurting. even those of us who were up and moving about really quickly had pain. i'm 2 weeks post op, and i have a little port pain still, especially if i dont bend down in the special way (1 leg in back in the air while holding my side), but i just take a couple of tylenol everyday and i'm good. just give yourself a little time, and don't feel bad about taking the good pain meds. that's all that worked for the gas for me. and then one day, you wake up, and there's no gas, and you're hungry so you eat something, and you have some energy, and you step on the scale and you've lost 10 lbs, and all of a sudden you'll know that it's worth it. but at 2 days, you shouldn't judge it, because you are at the bottom of the barrel. look up instead.

You're right...I know...Im jumping the gun. Thank you for your advice. I will try to be more positive.

  10. I dont think I made the right decision about surgery anymore...I am in a lot of pain (gas and port site)and I cant tell when I am full until it starts hurting....Thats bad. I know I dont need to do that, but I just cant tell, especially with liquid. I really want my feelings to change and start loving my band like all of you...but, I'm having a hard time getting accustomed to this. Any advice greatly appreciated.
