  1. Could one say that God showed you the way to this website? I'm told he works on mysterious ways.
  2. I would say "It's not your fault...". I have suffered guilt for my family's implosion for years. This caused decades of self destructive behavior. "It's not my fault"!
  3. IMHO, if it is related to the bariatic surgery journey, there is never TMI.
  4. Hi Paula, my name is Gary, 61, having you vsg in July 2017
  5. I see this. Many times I get, well, feelings I cannot explain. I now see that this is FEAR. I need to, will, begin to write more addressing this issue. I journal food religiously, but need to write about my feelings. Thanks to you all.
  6. Yes, I see! Putting too much on the plate now is just setting myself up for failure![emoji12]
  7. Here's a hug. Fear is normal, but it's what we do when we are fearful that is important. You have friends here who do understand you.
  8. Hello n Paula, Gary here.
  9. My constitution has always been very regular, but when I first started using the bars I became a little different. Not constipated, just a little more solid. Once I cut down on the carbs and increased my veggies, I went back to normal. Experiment before the surgery. Things may change after the surgery, but at least you'll be more comfortable with your body in general, and this will also help curb th he fears that may accompany the new life. VSG is a tool, and with a healthy mental attitude, you'll be ok.
  10. Taste is a funny thing. Some people I've talked to say these protein bars are not sweet enough, where others say they are too sweet. For me they taste sweet, hence my imagined aversion to them. But, they will help me, so I eat them. They also come in different flavors, so alternating helps too.
  11. I have a Fitbit. Is it easy to track food on the app? I now write everything down in snore book.
  12. Sciatica my problem too. My general help is not atrocious, lol, 335 lbs, but good heart, blood preasure, and no internal problems. It was only after having my herniated disk taken care of that I realized that I was actually crushing myself to death. ☹
  13. AbSolute lyrics! I'm not having vsg till July, and I've changed my mind scores of times!

Stick with what the nutritionist says. This surgery/life change is to important too risk any complications.
  15. I am generally open about my upcoming vsg, only keeping it from my mom, brothers and sisters. Their holier than though attirude (they have all done it and weigh more now than before). I will only tell them a few days before my vsg, just in case, we'll, just in case.
  16. I'm not scheduled fo r vsg till July, but I use the scale religiously every day. I helps me keep focused. For so long in my life I have avoided taking care of myself, that I am afraid to not look at the scale. That slippery slope of not looking for one or two days can let me not see when the slippery slope of not eating mindfully has begun. But this is how I use my tools. It may change later, but it works for me now. [emoji12]
  17. I got thisbook. It is really great. Puts a lot of information in your hands in a logical manner. Just be sure to read the whole thing.
  18. Good for you!
  19. I am 60 yes old and will be having my vsg in July. Thanks for sharing, it does help me. It took quite a lot of years and tears, but I am finally able to admit to myself that I do need help.
