I might just tell that person to worry about themselves. Don't let anyone make you feel bad period. Yes, the surgery helps us all, but WE have to put the work in. And clearly, you have! I agree with Berry78. Own the fact that you had surgery, tell your relative that it did help you, and that your hard work along with it gave you an amazing outcome. Tell them how happy you are and how great you feel. Nothing drives sour people more crazy than hearing how happy and positive you are. Some people just like to be miserable...don't let them bring you down with them

I had my gastric bypass on 02/28/17. I feel pretty good all things considered. I'm returning to work tomorrow, 03/13/17. I have already lost 20 additional pounds since my surgery and I feel great. Sure, tracking my food is an added job, and the foods I can eat are so limited, but hey....who cares! I feel great!!!
It all gets better from here, right?! You ladies keep strong and keep posting! Make plans for what things in life you will do now that you CAN do them. Keep a journal of your WLS victories. Remember this is a marathon and not a sprint. Soon (if not already) people will take notice of your weight loss and will tell you how good you look. That will fuel the rest of your weight loss journey

I also did the RNY due to Barrett's esophagus and GERD. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and have lost about 20 lbs since the surgery. I have not vomited or dumped yet either. I have a couple of friends that had a sleeve to RNY conversion - so I just figured that the RNY was the way to go. My mother in law had the RNY 12 years ago and has maintained her weight well.

I'm glad I came across this thread! I was very worried that I would only be able to sip Water for the rest of my life...lol....when I work hard I get thirsty and tend to take big drinks of water....I'd be miserable if I could only sip when I work.

My requirement was to do a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I had to use Opitfast 500. I lost 12lbs. It's expensive but really works. The least expensive place to buy was EBay. You can do it! You can lose 15lbs in 3 months!!! The more you lose helps you after surgery. Plus gets you mentally prepared for your new beginning in your life.
Its not easy after surgery. In my case the first 2 months were very difficult. I had a hard time getting in all my Protein & liquids. Now I feel great & finally feel human. I've lost 42lbs & go to the gym 3 times a week & PT 2 x week.
YOU CAN DO IT & YOU'LL REAP THE REWARDS!!!!

Hang in there Faith. Try to go back to your Bariatric Eating roots...you CAN DO THIS! Find a new bariatric doc if going back to the original doc is what's stopping you. You need to see a doc and refocus your sights. My doc actually sent me to a psychiatrist to see about "what was eating me" that caused me to eat. I can say it was a great help because I gained insight into myself that I had not ever realized before.
I will keep you in my prayers. Believe in yourself. You can do this!

My personal doctor prescribed Adipex to me to help me in my weight loss prior to surgery. I lost 50lbs in 4 months using it. I will say that you must also choose healthy foods, but the Adipex will suppress hunger and boost your metabolism.
