    1 day post op

I'm 6 days out and my gas pains were torture. Gas X strips or anything else didn't work for me. I had to keep walking and walking and waking. Finally on day 5, I was able to pass a lot of the gas in me. No I'm all better. It will take a little time but it will absolutely get better. Stay strong!
  2. My surgery was last Thurs and I definitely over packed. The clothes I wore there was what I wore home. I used my chapstick. Hospital had toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, etc) but I brought my own as well. I brought a robe but never used it. I just doubled up in the hospital gown. My goods never showed while walking the halls. Also, never used my slippers. The hospital socks had a lot of traction and were helpful for me when walking. And phone charger of course
  3. I'm so sorry that your gas pains came back. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy. Ugh. Do you know why they came back for you?
  4. I was March 30th. After a few days of having god forsaken gas pains, I'm relieved and feeling MUCH. I can honestly say the pain from the gas was 100 times worse than the incision pain. My incisions don't both for the most part. Still tender and have to get up and sit down slowly, but doing pretty well. Hope all is well with you guys and gals!

    March sleevers

Im doing pretty well. My surgery was on the 30th. Gas pains were a b***h but now they are gone and I feel great. Incisions are sore, especially the one where my stomach was removed. I've been doing pretty well with my liquid intake. I have to keep it up. I work from home and plan to start back working on Monday. I need to figure out a drinking schedule so that wherever I am or whatever I'm doing, I know when I need to drink. I hope the other March sleevers are doing well!

    March 29th

Congrats! I was sleeved on 3/30!
  8. I'm scared. Scared as f***. This entire process, I've been pretty cool and calm. Not worried too much. Kind of excited. That all ended when the hospital called me today to confirm my surgery and arrival time. It's the unknown that's freaking me the hell out all of a sudden. How much pain will I be in? How will I handle the anesthesia? Will it make me sick? What if I fail at getting enough protein and water in? Yikes. [emoji50]
  9. Thank you everyone!! I'm finally post-op. Wasn't as bad as I imagined at all. I'm feeling pretty okay. Anesthesia has had he sleepy and groggy most of the day. In terms of pain, incision pain in minimal. Just feels like I did lots of push ups. Oh boy, but that has pain is a killer. It really hurts. Walking is the only solution. I've walked every chance I got and I'm going to continue to do that. Also, peeing every 10 minutes! Lol So happy I did this and I'm excited to start this new journey of my like. Thank you all for your kind words, well wishes and encouragement. [emoji173]

    schedule surgery

I was approved on March 2nd and my surgery is scheduled for March 30th. Those weeks in between have me time to do the last requirements and testing for my surgery (final medical clearance, bloodwork, Upper GI, etc)

    Curious

Even if your insurance doesn't require it, if you're surgeon's requests it, it's something you have to do. There were a few things my insurance didn't require but my surgeon's program did. All depends.

    Question for the Ladies

I'm on day 12 of my pre-op diet and I've been spotting for the past week as well. Down 15lbs. Just going to chalk it up to the weight loss
  13. I have to pay $1000 day of my surgery. I'll be billed the remaining $1000 after surgery. That's my 10% I have to pay. Insurance pays the remaining 90%
  14. I'm on day 11 and it's not that bad. Days 1 and 2 were thee absolute worst for me. Once I created a schedule to keep me full off of what I was allowed to have, it's been a breeze, honestly. I do miss chewing real food though! Lol [emoji4]

    Pre-Op Testing

Once most of my testing was done and my PCP sent my medical clearance form to the surgeon's office, they then sent to insurance for approval. I was approved in 2 days. The same day I was approved, the insurance coordinator called me and I was able to schedule my surgery that day. This happened on March 2nd and I scheduled my surgery for March 30th.
  16. My surgeon has me on a two week clear liquid only pre-op diet. 4 protein shakes and 2 protein shakes a day (required purchase from surgeon's office), along with 3 servings a day of either some type of clear broth, sugar free jello and popsicles. Also, unlimited water, Crystal Light, low/no cal sports drinks. Everyone that comes through my surgeon's program is put on a two week liquid diet, regardless of type of surgery, BMI, etc.
  17. I'm March 30th! Can. Not. Wait!

    Denied

Don't feel discouraged. Do you know what they discrepancy is? It's weird that they initially told you it was covered, and now saying it's not covered at all. Maybe you choice give your insurance a call and find out if you're covered for the surgery. Keep your head up and best of luck!

    Pre op diet

I started my 2 week pre-op on March 16th. The first couple of days are tough but it's gotten easier for me. I'm only allowed 4 protein shakes and 2 protein bars, and 3 servings of sugar free popsicles and jello and clear broth per day. I've created a schedule where I'm constantly drinking a protein shakes or some type of fluid so that I'm not hungry. You've got this. Good luck!
  21. Hey all, I received a fun phone call from the hospital where I'll be having my surgery. Finance department told me that my insurance covers 90% of my surgery, leaving me responsible for 10% or $2100. Cool. I knew that. What I didn't know was that I would have to make a deposit of half of the $2100 to the hospital that day I arrive, prior to my surgery. I was under the impression that I'd pay for it once I received my hospital bill AFTER surgery. It caught me off guard a bit but I have the money and can pay day of. Just curious as to the process for some of you in terms of when you were required to pay, etc thanks!
  22. You've got this!! I'm on day 5 of my liquid diet. Yesterday I threw my best friend a bridal shower. All of the food and sweets you could think of were there. I actually wasn't tempted because I made sure I drunk my protein shakes/ate my jello so that I would be full and wouldn't even consider sneaking a bit. You can do it!
  23. Hello all, For those of you who have done or are currently doing your liquid pre-op diet, did you experience headaches and if so, did you take anything for it (Tylenol)? I'm on day 2 and have a pretty bad headache. I'm certain it's from my body adjusting to the liquid only madness I'm putting it through. Hopefully the headaches will subside as it gets used to the liquid. It's going to be a long 2 weeks! [emoji4]
  24. I'm on day 5 and my headaches are gone! They ended around day 3. I've made it a point to stay super hydrated and haven't had any problems since. Can't honestly say the liquid diet isn't as bad I expected it to be
  25. I have Anthem BCBS of CA and I was approved in two days. Through my specific insurance, I was required to do a 6-month program with my surgeon's Bariatric office
