  1. I'm starting my liquid diet on Friday, for 7 days. I have stocked up on a lot of approved liquids. I have read a lot about "bone broth", and although the idea of it grosses me out, pacific organically makes one that's very low sodium, low calorie, and 9 grams of Protein in one cup. So I'm going to give it a shot. They also make low sodium vegetable broth, mushroom broth, and several other Soups. I think they will really help me as far as variety goes.

I like pacific with a little bouillon added...it was just what I needed after surgery. I also really like the Adkins lift clear drinks because they have 20 grams of protein and taste pretty good.

  2. I would also like to track carbs and fiber so I can know my daily net carb totals. This is important for type 2 diabetics.
I would also like to be able to export the data into a spreadsheet.
I would also like to be able to link with my Apple Watch for exercise.
I second being able to have lower calorie goals.

    This! NET CARB tracking please!

  3. I can't speak to Mexico specifically, but here are some items I found really helpful when I was sleeves 3 weeks ago:
    1. Electric heating pad
    2. Sleeveless nightgown
    3. My favorite pillow with a colored pillowcase (so the nurses knew it came from home)
    4. Brand new pack of underwear (just felt good since I couldn't shower until it was time to leave)
    5. Flip-flops for walking around. The socks with grippies just didn't do it for me.
    6. Check-list of phone numbers for my boyfriend to call to let everyone know I was ok. I divided it up between "Text" and "Call" and included my closest friends, parents, and work team. When I was in recovery he was getting all the congratulatory/good luck/rooting for you notes on my behalf [emoji4] It was great to fully wake up to.
    7. Loose yoga pants for going home. Your tummy may be bloated from all the gas used during the procedure.
    8. Biotene. Your mouth gets dry from surgery and you may not be able to get up to brush. The minty biotene covers you for both
    9. If you use a CPAP and your hospital allows you to bring your own, DO IT.
I had a strong reaction to the anesthesia, so I slept for basically the entire first day. The second day I was able to stay awake and alert for longer stretches, but not enough to read or watch tv or use my laptop. I used my phone a little to check Facebook and Pinterest, but I barely remember.

Great list! The only thing I would add is GasX strips. Event though the majority of gas is not actually in the GI tract, the strips helped with some gas that was in the GI tract. I thought it did help me some.

  4. I have been cooking for my family all along because I am the only one who cooks and I have to say, it really was hard at first! I would actually get all grumpy, especially if I was hungry myself...almost like a little panicky. But now that I recognize how I was feeling, I make sure to eat a little something before or while cooking. I don't cook on an empty stomach if it's food I won't be eating!

  5. Im already screwing up over eating. I'm feeling myself going back into some old habits. I began tracking my foods today and am ashamed to say I've had 96 grams of carbs. I'm devastated. I even had heartburn today. First time since before sleeve. I'm only 5 weeks out. Please what should I do to regain focus??

I think the book The Beck Diet Solution by Judith Beck was previously suggested my OutsideMatchInside...she is a real inspiration, so I picked it up for Audiable. It is cognitive behavioral therapy focused, and that it exactly what I needed. It's awesome!

Also, if you aren't easily offended, the book Never Binge Again by Glenn Livingston, is a quick read that puts the CBT techniques into an immediately usable context with very powerful imagry. It might not be right for someone who is very emotionally sensitive about their weight but it was exactly the kind of tough love I was looking for. It is free on Amazon Kindle right now.

  6. To me getting a response isn't exactly necessary. On Match, I can tell when they read my message. If they don't respond within 24 hours of reading the message, I just write them off. No need for a thanks but no thanks. My biggest issue is that none of them like me.

Completely off topic but I keep finding guys that are really proud of their omelette skills. Like they can t wait to make you an omelette. Is that supposed to be the male end all be all of breakfast? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] they are so excited it's adorable.

Maybe it is time to talk with a professional that specializes in relationships. They could take a look at your communications, past relationships, expectations, etc. And make some suggestions of things you could do differently. It can be hard to look within for answers but may get you closer to connecting with someone in a meaningful way.

  7. My husband and I were so impressed with Juan and the other valets (I have a hard time with names and after surgery it was impossibe!) I so wish I could remember the other valets name because he was equally amazing!

I also have to mention Robert, though. Robert drove us to and from the airport and I really enjoyed hanging out with him. On our way home, we had some time to kill, so he actually hung out with us on the aircraft carrier that is docked in San Diego, now a museum. Most drivers would just wait in the car on their phone but he was so friendly and personable.

I will never forget the kindness I recieved...I never felt like just a number to anyone. I would do it all again.

  8. I am in the Portland area and had my sleeve on May 9th. Down 4 dress sizes from woman and now into petite sizes. Worth it!

I know this is an old post but I thought I would chime in and say hi to the other Portland Oregon people! My surgery date was April 21st and so far I've lost 23 lbs...Very happy!
I am wondering if anyone knows of a local support group. The one on meetup.com seems totally dead. Their last meetup was in September.

  9. I agree...this may be his way of showing support and trying to help you be successful. Personally, I asked my husband to help me stay in check and this seems similar to some of the things he does to help. I know ultimately it is all up to me but having him give me a nudge in the right direction gets me thinking and sometimes helps me make even better choices.
One thing you could try is telling him, in a very straightforward way, exactly what kind of support you want and what really makes you feel support from him. That way he doesn't have to guess what you want and accidentally show his support in a way that doesn't translate to what you need. Tell him what he CAN do to be helpful.

Examples: "It really makes me feel loved and supported when you compliment me or notice how hard I've been working" or " When you point out a positive change in me, I find it very motivating"

  10. I found the free dating sites to be low quality. On POF I got solicited by a dominatrix. I almost contacted her back just so I could at least be with a woman.
I'm employed and fully clothed and yet still can't get any woman to respond. I keep hearing how low quality the guys are on these sites and yet 150 women chose to ignore me.

Not saying this is the case, but if your messages sound generic and don't contain anything to let the woman know that you read her profile, it's very likely that the message will be ignored. I don't know if this applies...just a thought.
