  1. Happy 44th Birthday CPSimonton!

  2. Happy 43rd Birthday CPSimonton!

  3. I went on a three week trip out west (driving) 9 days after surgery and I did fine and lost weight while on vacation. Take it easy after the surgery but you should be fine. The hardest thing to get used to was trying foods to see what would go down easily. I found that cheese enchiladas were my friend. Colorado either had chicken fried steak or something wrapped in a tortilla.

this isnt working for me !

Another to thing remember is you chose the band so that the weight will come off slowly and successfully. I made the choice between the band and gastric bypass to choose the band. Those that take if off slower look better and much more healthier. You have to remember that the difference now when you get on the scale is that it is not moving up. It may be the same or slowly moving down, but that is success!!!!! Be happy with any weightloss, it is what you have been wanting and now achieving.

    Getting Depressed

I lost 20 lbs after the 2nd week of surgery and once I started eating mushies i gained back 10 of it. However, when I went to the doctor 5 weeks after surgery I had lost 17lbs. I have now lost another 5lbs and have been stuck on that for a few days. You are doing good and your weight will stablize when your eating returns to normal food.

    Long Term Effects

I expect I will have the band for the rest of my life. As for sodas, I have not had one since June 11, (day before surgery) and I have not missed them. What I am having a hard time of is finding a drink other than Water that I can run into the store and grab that I like. As for throwing up if you drink something while you are eating, that has not been the case for me. I sometimes have to drink something to make the food go down, otherwise it feels like a golf ball in my throat. I am down 21 lbs since surgery and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I believe that without the band I would go back to my old habits but maybe in the future (years from now) it will be like quitting smoking. You know to never pick up a cigarette again for fear of starting back. The difference between food and cigarettes is you have to eat you don't have to smoke to stay alive, so you have the potential to start eating like the old you and gaining weight again. Good luck to you.
  7. i was banded on 6/12 and am able to eat whatever i want as long as it is soft when it goes down. i ate chicken and dumplings, pizza (chewed and chewed it but did not eat the crust). Everything has gone down okay but I at chips and salsa and tried to eat a fajita yesterday. The fajita did not go so well, wont try that again. I think as long as you make sure what goes down has been chewed really well or you stick to soft things any food is okay.

    How much can you eat?

i was banded on 6/12 and I can eat almost but not quite 1/4 of a meal that you get like at Chilis. Once piece of pizza is all I can handle w/out the crust. I chew and chew and chew to make sure it will go down. So far the only thing that has really bothered me is broccoli. My problem is not so much feeling hungry as trying to get some calories in. My stomach is not hungry just my head.

    Really not feeling well

I was banded on 6/12 and today is the first day i can eat mushies. I cheated and ate brunswick stew (30 grams of protein in 1 cup) last nite. That is the best I have felt since i had the surgery. I came to work yesterday for the 1st time and had to go home at 2:00 because I was so sick and went to bed for 3 hours. When I woke up i went to the BBQ restuarant and bought the stew. After eating it, i no longer felt dizzy, light headed or like i had a bad hangover. I don't think i was getting enough calories and sugar. I was drinking protein shakes, eating creamy soups, popsicles, etc., but I felt like I was in a fog. Today I went to Chili's and order edtheir firecracker tilapia with mashed potatoes and veggies. I was able to eat 1/4 of the meal and I have been full ever since but I have managed to stay at work all day and I have been able to focus. I also had a scrambled egg with a 1/2 piece of american cheese and a V8 on the way to work. Although I am not eating very much, just getting real food in my system has made me feel better. So try a scrambled egg and see if you can tolerate that.

I am on real food and starving

at any BBQ restuarant. it has ground up chicken, pork, corn, tomatos, and other stuff in it. After eating it tonite it is the best I have felt in 7 days. Could only eat 1/2 cup before being completely full and it has been 2 hours and still completely full.

I am on real food and starving

i was banded june 12 and can start mushies today. I have been total opposite, not hungry at all just sick to my stomach (kinda of like a hangover where you feel if you eat something it will make you feel better). I went to work for the first time today and had to come home at 2:00. I was so sick to my stomach that I had to lay down when I got home for several hours. My problem is getting calories in. I have been eating protein shakes, v8s, cream of tomato soup, etc. But nothing makes my stomach feel less upset. So tonite I thought of mushies and tried brunswick stew (30 grams of protein in 1 cup). It did the trick. I haven't felt this good since the day before surgery. I know it has like 350 calories, but at this point I don't care. I just need calories and protein to keep from starving myself.
  12. I had surgery on 6/12 so today is 4 days post op. I feel like I have no energy and am dizzy and light headed. I have drank a protein shake and a cup of green tea this morning. Is this normal? What is zapping all of my energy and making me dizzy?
  13. jere, i was banded on the 12th and having a hard time feeling like i want something to eat. In fact, I am not at all hungry. Yesterday I took my meds and used Water twice to get both down. I then took a drink of crystal lite. I found out what a productive burp is. I drank to much at one time and i started feeling like i was going to throw up and my mouth started watering badly and just when I thought I was going to throw up I had this really big belch come up. I never did throw up but learned that you can only take small sips at a time. Yesterday I had 2 Protein Shakes and a tsp of tomato Soup. I couldnt eat anything else except sip water. While I was in the shower while ago, I think I could almost feel a panic attack coming on thinking how am I going to be able to eat again. Not like I use to eat but be able to eat at all.

    June line up

Hi everyone, I was banded on the 12th and I am feeling great. It is really unbelievable, but I have no gas pains and no real pain to speak of. It hurts a little to get up and down from couch but no real pain otherwise. I don't feel hungry at all, however I am drinking my protein shakes. So far today I have gotten 1 down and working on another. The Unjury brand is really good. I was afraid that it would taste like chalk but it tastes like chocolate milk. One thing I have noticed is I am itching. Someone told me that is from the anesthesia. I wish all of you good luck and hope you have it as easy as I have.
