Sincerely Jeanni
  4. I am so disappointed I missed this post as I would have loved to come to this meeting....who do I contact for the next on in May? Is it at the clinic itself in Mississauga? Please let me know...thank you very much!
  5. Hey there, I did the same thing as you I lost 20 pounds prior to the surgery doing the liquid diet then I lost another 20 after the surgery within the first six weeks...I was on cloud nine...I went for the fill and they gave it to me but it was against their advise they said you are losing let it go for a bit longer but I insisted and they finally agreed to a bit more but I could not keep anything down, I mean anything...I went back and had it lessened, I stayed like that for about two months and then went back and had more put in. They told me it takes time for your stomach to adjust to the fills so be patient and listen to them...they really know what they are doing. I am now down 59 pounds in just over a year...I still want to lose another 30 -40 pounds but I am extremely happy with the weight loss and listening to the professionals... take care and good luck

  7. I have had the infortunate luck of food stuck and I can tell you now I know exactly what to do when the pain is unbearable. I drink pepsi or another carbonated drink lean over the bowl and it comes right out. I am not vomiting as it is not coming from the belly it is only unlodging the food that as an idiot I have not chewed properly...waited too long to eat and I eat too fast or plain try an eat the wrong food. I cannot do bread at all...and if it is something new it is anyone's guess if goes down.....

What does my band do for me?

Mifive, I should have mentioned I work with a bunch of women and we all know women can be catty somewhat so this was the main reason I wanted them not to know. Besides they a e my coworkers not anyone I truly care enough about to have them offer opinions on my life. But as for the others in my life who I do care about they too would not necessarily see why I would choose to do this. When I was vomiting alot I simply said the food is stuck adn fortunately for me it was my dad who said awww she probably has a hietal hernia as he has and has had for years. I never really agreed or disagreed with the ailment but if I am in a predicament where the food is not staying I will say something like oh for petes sake it is stuck i ahve this ledge like thing and I point to mt port area and say right about here and say food sometimes gets stuck so again not a lie,.....where are you at for your banding and how are you doing

My journey to where I want to be

I was banded March 2008 When I first decided to check out the option of lapbanding I was 213 pounds. I went in for the preliminary check up and had lost 10 pounds but of course I think that was the fear of hey I could be skinny lol I was having caused the weight loss. By the time the preop diet was complete I had lost another 10 pounds so it was looking good. I handed over the cheque for 16 grand and yeah you know it lost another few pounds lol By July I had lost 47 pounds and was feeling great. I had another fill this was my second one and about a month and half later that is when it started, I was throwing up constantly. If I ate and drank water I would vomit. Everything got stuck. I continued like this for some time before going back to doc and having an unfill that was in September. It was a nightmare as I felt terrible but the scales said I was down another 15 pounds but this is not how I need to lose the weight. I have lost another 3 pounds since then. I know it is slower now but I can tell you it is still my problem as I get nervous about the food so I eat what I know will stay down and that is not always the best foods. I am going back to see doc since I have read other posters and now I am afraid of losing the band all together due to slippage. I will make it to the destination because I have been waiting for me for a long time. I would like to lose another 30 pounds and better yet keep it off for life. I am being very conscious from here on as a promise to my life that I will eat properly.

What does my band do for me?

I also have not told anyone other than the doc and my husband. There is no need for anyone else to know. I have lost 60 pounds so far and will continue to lose more. I also tell people I am doing the right things to accompolish this. I do eat properly and go to the gym and drink lots of water. I believe this is the biggest key! I do have my days when I eat the wrong foods and then I start a new day and get back on track. I also find if I mix the textures I can tolerate the food better. I can eat a 1/4 of a hamburger lets say on a bun (breads are killers for me) but if I put a tomato on it with the mustard it will go down and stay down. I had some huge issues with vomiting and it was out of control until I went back for a defill. It was too tight and I could not keep anything down. That was a challenge because of course everyone around you suddenly notices how many times you head for the bathroom when you are supposed to be eating. Anyways I love this opportunity I have been given even though it has cost me 16 grand, it is still worth it since it is my life. And come to think of it I have probably paid more over the years with diet fads, diet pills. food aids, diet drinks, prepackaged food fads, clothes to fit every size from a 4 - 20 and of course all of the gym memberships. So I am ahead of the game for sure as I am geting back my health and my enjoyment of doing things in life.

    Ice Cream horror

I am finding the same thing...I can eat hard cereal bars and be fine yet almost everything else makes me sick? If I concentrate on the chewing I am better but I still get most everything stuck, drink something and it comes right back up.....any ideas?

Is it a slip or just swollen?

I just got my fill two weeks ago and I too can change day to day. One day I can eat and the next day I throw up everything...including ice cream and occasionally water....I get the sliming too....I also get the extreme pain in my belly....I often tell my husband that the feeling is like there is something stuck in my belly.....I am seeing the doc next weeka dn i am going to ask if this is normal....I have a feeling it is not chewing enough and eating too fast! I'll let you know
