  1. I, of course told my husband. I also told my mom (not my dad). I told one of my three sisters. Only because I need her to come help me. I didn't tell my dad because he would be all panicked. I'm panicked enough as it is. As for anyone else, I don't care to hear what they think.
  2. Yes. I started mine today. I'm just trying to get through the day. If I can make it through the first few days I know it will be a breeze.
  3. This is my greatest fear. I tell everyone my hair is my best asset. I am African American with natural thick, healthy, and nearly waist length hair. I don't know what I would do if I lost it. I'm so scared. I try to think of the benefits of the surgery but I am still afraid. I'm just hoping and praying.
  4. March 8th 41 years old.Wife, mother of 1 princess. Supposed to start pre-op diet Feb 22. Starting tomorrow to get my mind ready for the next two weeks. I'm am horrified by the thought of the next two weeks.
  5. Thanks guys. I am feeling a little better today. Even though I had a restless night. I explained to my daughter that the doctor was going to help me lose weight so that I could do lots of things with her. I drug my treadmill to her play room last night and walked while she played. She stopped in the middle of playing and said mommy you're doing so good. I'm so proud of you. My heart just melted. So when she woke up this morning she said mommy I'm so excited for the doctor to help you. She then yelled when you lose weight we are going to have so much fun. We can run and play and ride bikes together. That made me feel so much better. I love my husband but my daughter is the reason I'm figuring this fight.
  6. I went to Sam's today and got 2 cases of shakes and bars for my 2 week pre-op diet. I have to start Wednesday of next week. Since I left Sam's I have this overwhelming since of fear. Buying those shakes have made this so real. I'm so afraid that I will fail. At this point failure is not an option. I'm 41 years old with a beautiful 4 year old daughter.(my only child) I have to live for my daughter. She deserves a mother who can actively participate in her life. I am feeling so overwhelmed right now. I really need an encouraging words.
  7. I had my first visit in September. Had 90 days of documented weigh ins. I had part of my colon removed in November, which through me off. I completed everything in January. It took CIGNA approximately one week to approve. Having bypass March 8th.
  8. My surgery date is March 8th. Starting pre-op diet February 22nd. I am horrified. I don't want to fail.
  9. I got the opposite news Monday. I was so looking forward to RNY. The surgeon said I may have to get sleeved because of a colon surgery I had November. I'm hoping and praying that she can somehow do the RNY. Sad about that but excited because I am scheduled for March 8th.
  10. My mom said she is on board but I know she is very concerned. She always supports my sister's and I with everything we do. She would never tell me she didn't want me to do it. I just keep trying to reassure her that the procedure has come a long way. I hate for her to be worried though.

  14. OMG!!! Sitting in the surgeon's office now. I am doing my pre-op and scheduling today. I am so nervous. I can't believe it's really happening. It's been a long road but it's finally here. I can barely contain the excitement. I will finally be the person I am on the inside.
  15. You have no reason to be embarrassed. We are doing this for our children. I keep telling myself that I have to succeed. I can't fail because of my daughter. She is the main reason I'm having bypass. She deserves a mother that can actively participate in her life and not sit on the sidelines. I want to teach her a healthy lifestyle. This surgery is the only way I can do that. Your children will be so proud and happy for the new you.
  16. I am restocking the pantry. Also trying the smaller meals. I've cut out sodas and trying to cut out the refined sugars. At my nutrition class, I received a copy of the liver shrink diet. I plan on starting it Monday just to see how it goes. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
