  1. I over prepared as well. I bought things I did not use. Thank goodness for return policies. My list of haves and have nots are below: 1) Blender / Purée - I did not even use it. Returned it. 2) Stocked up on Protein Shakes and Broth I liked - I could not even drink them or stomach them. I still can't. 3) Sugar Free Gatorade/Vitamin Water/Trimino - Was life for me. I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks. I had to bypass (no pun intended) the protein drink phase and go to puréed/soft foods. 4) Food Scale - You will definitely need one of these. I use mines every week when I meal prep. Best thing since I found out I can eat cheese again! 5) Chapstick - preferably the ones with natural oils. Lips get really chapped that first week. 6) Sugar Free Jello/Popsicles - I used to run them over my lips to help melt them a little. It really helps with the chapped lips. 7) Journal or Notebook - to keep track of the foods you can or cannot eat, Your inches and your weight. 8) Shower Chair - I had one so I could sit under the hot water and let us soothe my aches. 9) Hot Compress - for those nights where you get uncomfortable. 10) Two Pillows or Body Pillow - Make sure that they are extra fluffy. I could only sleep on my side so I bought a body pillow and placed my tummy on it. You will find that some awkward positions with pillows make you feel more comfortable lol. Well this is my list. Remember everyone is different. What works for some may not work for you and what did not work for them may work you. It is pretty much trail and error. Good luck!!!
  2. I am backwards on mines. I have 2 boiled eggs whites 30 minutes before my workout. Then after my workout I will have a shake. Also, one of my snacks is a protein bar on workout days. You can try adding an additional meal on the days you do cross fit. On the days I work out instead of 4-6 meals, I am having 6 or 7 (depending on the type of protein I prepared). Okay
  3. Reputation is based upon status updates. These are your updates that people reply to or like. Idk what the number means exactly but I know that the more you post status updates, the higher the number gets.
  4. Thanks for this amazing information. I have been adding berries to my snacks for meal preps.
  5. I am 3 months post op. I cannot take huge gulps of water. However, I can drink a lot of water straight.
  6. I was 7 days post op and it was the best day of my life lol ? !!
  7. It depends on your body. I was able to do way more by week 2. However, my energy levels are naturally really high (hyper active). Some people have horrible first month. My suggestion is schedule 3-4 weeks in advance. You would hate to do it so close and find you cannot enjoy yourself.
  8. I never trust hotel or gym scales. They are not always accurate. You have to only use your scale. When I traveled, I did not weigh myself. I worked out and ate extremely healthy. When I got home....only lost 1.4lbs lol. It was muscle though. I did a lot of weight lifting and swimming that week.
  9. I had the same pain. I could not stomach my pain killers so I had to boss through it. However, this is very normal and is nothing to stress about. I know it hurts and it's very uncomfortable. I'm sure it makes it difficult to want to walk (I walked like I had a hunchback for the first week). My suggestion is a hot compress. This does help. I placed a seat in my shower and would sit under the warm running water to help alleviate some of the discomfort.
  10. Contact your surgeon immediately. Bruising is normal but green is not. It can be a sign of infection.
  11. I started toning and doing all the extra skin care at 8 weeks post op. Honestly, it is she, genetics, and how stretched the skin is. My thighs look amazing as they have gotten smaller and toned up. However, my arms, tummy, breast and back have been my problem areas.
  12. This is common. I was miserable during my recovery. I could not take the protein shakes, I could barely get down water. It's only the first week and your feeling what we call is the "Buyers Remorse". Once the second week comes you will get better and each week after that gets better and better. Here are some helpful tips (These are what I used): 1) Set a timer 3-5 sips (depending on what you can handle) every 10-15 minutes. 2) Take ice in between the sips and rub it around your lips. You will get in small amounts of extra liquid but it won't make you feel sick. 3) Your body is still getting used to the lack of food. Your going to feel dizzy. Try walking around once an hour. Walk to the room door and back (do it 1-2 more times depending on how big the room is). 4) Positive mind. This is the most crucial. When I thought negatively and was upset, it effected my whole body and I would make myself sick. Try thinking about the goal at the end and how far you have come. Hold those goals and memories tight. Let them run through your body. When you do not want to walk, think about the positive, when you do not want to sip, think of the positives and you will have the strength to take your sips and to walk. These 4 tips got me through the hardest part of this journey. I hope it helps you as much as it did me.
  13. Honestly, everyone is different and how they are able to take liquids and protein shakes changes from person to person. My doctor gave me the recommended 2 shakes and 64 oz once I was two weeks post op. However, I was not able to stomach my protein shakes and they made me very sick. So my clear liquid diet lasted 2 weeks. With the second week was me getting in the 64oz water needed. I took protein shots to get in the protein. My advise is to try to get as much as you can in. If you cannot finish the rest do not force it. You will make yourself sick.
  14. It is common. However it happens to people differently. Some people stall every other week, some get the stall 3-weeks straight and Some get a stall week once a month. Myself, I have a really good week, then a okay week, then a bleh week and then nothing. I am 3 months post op.
  15. I hope you feel better. I do not know much about this particular matter. I just wanted to say feel better!!
  16. We never weigh in. It is an unspoken understanding. We also do not decision the scale. We spend our time talking about rants, issues, temptations, family and etc. To use the scale is nonexistent and we spend it getting help and know one another.
  17. Have you tried Alive! Chewable Calcium with D3? I use it and I have not problems. It reminds me of gummy bears. I also use Alive! Women's Multivitamin. Unfortunately not every flavor is delicious. When I plan these vitamins, I take two of the same. Also buy the small pill containers. I have 8 (see picture below). That's an example of one of them. They come in all colors. I have one of each and stack them in a rainbow. It makes me laugh but also reminds me. I do a pack and go for the week. In addition there is the app called Round. I use it to because it sends notifications to my phone to remind me to take my vitamins. I hope this helps you.
  18. It is okay. You look amazing. The best thing is that you see and notice your mistakes and are willing to change them. You posting your pics shows that we can reach our goals, fall off the wagon for a little while but also get back to it.
  19. I am sure you already know but watch your carbs too. That maybe holding you back. The general consensus is 20g of carbs or less. Also try tracking your food intake. This can give you a better idea on where you succeeding and where you need to work on. Also remember, that you are still healing and your body is going crazy trying to take care of itself. Right now it won't be worried about weight loss. It is probably just holding onto the weight due to shock. Give it time, you will lose again. Also I stall for 1 week and lose big the next. Try to keep a weekly track of weight loss too. It actually helps you figure it your bodies partners. Mines goes like this every month: week 1: Major loss (3 - 4 lbs) week 2: okay loss (2 - 3 lbs) week 3: little weight loss (1 - 2 lbs) week 4: barely any weight loss (0 - 1 lbs) I hope this helps.
  20. I was in the same boat. Try setting a timer. 1 - 2 small tiny sips every 10 minutes. I did this and it helped. I was not able to keep down soup or anything else. I could only sip water. I did this the first week and then the second week got easier. I had tons of back pain, I could not stand up straight. What helped was a hot compress on my back and sitting in the shower with hot water running down. I hope you get better soon!!!
  21. I would suggest staying away from the scale too. My first month, I did not step on the scale. It was also because I was having a horrible recovery and did not care if I lost weight.
  22. Congrats on making this decision. I am in Bed Stuy NYC. I was sleeved in March.
  23. I was supposed to be out for 5 days, however I choose to add an additional 5 days.
  24. Unfortunately, for some it is bad. I had it bad. I also do not regret it. With me being in pain 24/7, my views of this surgery and food have forever been changed. I will never want to do something like this again. This is a one time thing. This is my last shot and this painful. I think that if I had a smooth recovery, I would not really have been inclined to change my relationship with food that much. Now, I eat to live and I choose the best and most healthiest food I can find. That is because I do not want to go backwards. I want to continue going forward and finding new receipts and foods to try. It gets better I promise it does.
  25. Oh it is normal. Lol I had a dream that was sooo real I thought I had eaten ice cream. My dream was me walking through a Supermarket and I cam to a giant freezer with every one of my favorite Edy's Ice Cream. I had a spoon. I opened each ice cream and took a spoonful and ate it. I then closed the ice cream and put it back neatly. I backed away slowly as to not get caught lol. Our love of foods really play with our emotions lol.
