You're right! I don't have another choice. The Doc knows best. What a stressful process but I guess no one ever said it would be easy. Lol. Thanks for the advice.

Oh how I appreciate this post so much. I am 4 days out and laying in bed going through the same exact thing. I'm to the point now where I will only watch movies with no commercials because I cannot take the food commercials anymore. I told myself in due time I will be back to normal and enjoying life again. This is just a small time period in the grand scheme of things. We all did this so we can live a happy and healthier life. We got this!!! hahahaha best of luck to everyone!

I am down 22 pounds and can already feel the difference. My face is thinner and my clothes fit better. I still struggle with low energy but it's getting better each day. I think about food here and there but not as much as I did the first few days after surgery. I was depressed thinking of all the things I could not have. I'm very happy now that I did this and can't wait to see the changes to come.

I had my surgery on the 19th as well. I also had my gallbladder removed at the same time and let me tell how freaking painful that was. I am weaning off of the pain meds because they stop me from sleeping well and I have very crazy and vivid dreams. I've been on Tylenol for the last day and a half and doing well. If you feel like your pain is not controlled then call your surgeon. You cannot heal properly if you are always in pain. The gas pain will get better with time. Just keep walking, walking, walking. I walked around Wegmans today and when I got home all types of gas came out.

I had my first bow movement yesterday. It started with the urge that would go away and then turned into an actual movement. If you are not even feeling the urge you can take a stool softener or call your surgeon.

Best of luck to you. We are surgery twins [emoji5]

I am being discharged today and feeling good. Yesterday was really rough. I had my gallbladder removed at the same time and that caused a lot of pain in my back. I also vomited a few times from the pain meds. Once I got that under control and started walking I started feeling a million times better. Walking helps tremendously with the gas pain. Here is a tip- when you walk, hold a pillow over your stomach. It helps so much.
I've had no issues with drinking Water or broth. I also had Jello today. I am hoping it only gets better from here.
    Good luck everyone!

shy1 got a reaction from LauriT in Clear liquids tomorrow, then Sleeving on Tuesday
My surgery is on Wednesday and I could have written this post myself. I am having second thoughts but then I quickly go to what my life will be like if I didn't have the surgery. I would continue on with yo yo dieting, co-morbidities, and constantly being in pain. I think we are going into this with the right expectations... there will be pain, there may be gas, and we have to learn how to eat all over again and that is half the battle. Try not to let the horror stories scare you because it's all relative. Best of luck to you!

My surgery was pushed up to the 19th so I have two days to go. I go back and forth from excited to scared to death. But nothing scares me more than not having it and continuing to live overweight and in pain. So I'm hoping that logic will get me through. How are you doing on the pre op diet? I've followed it to the T.

shy1 got a reaction from MBird in Therapy before surgery
    Hi all,
My VSG surgery date is 4/20/17. Over the past few months, I've realized that I have an issue with being in control. I'm a married mother of 3 with a full time job that is very demanding so I have to be in control of my life or things will fall a part. I feel like this need to control every situation will affect me in a negative way with my surgery so I decided to start seeing a therapist. My first appt is this coming Saturday.
This process has proven to be just as much mental as it is physical and I want to make sure I am addressing both pieces in order to be successful.
Anyone else decide to go to therapy on their own? If so, is it helping?

I just found out about 2 hours ago and I've gone from excited to scared to anxious in that short amount of time. LOL! It does not seem real yet. I am planning to get organized this week. I have to make a shopping list, get things in order at work and home with my kids. I'm hoping the distraction will help with my nerves. Can I ask why you are going from the Sleeve to bypass? I considered both but my dr thought the Sleeve was good for me.
