  1. I came across some info on nutritional i.v & banana bags. If you had either one or both can you explain them to me. Also, why the doctor ordered it. The only understanding I got from what I read was if there was a deficiency and dehydration. I was wondering how bad do you have to be to get these. Seems like if they help feed the body Vitamins and the other hydrates it should be something we all should have?

  2. What's up everybody, long time lurker, first time poster. I have a surgery date of July 6 and I am looking for others as well. This is actually my second time going through this process, I went through the process like 2.5 years ago and stopped my surgery about a week before it was time to go through with it. I am going to do it this time, I need to.
I'm prior service Army Infantry and there is a pretty big stigma about how this will be taking the easy way out from my friends who I served with which is why I'm only telling very few people. Not a lot of people I interact with have any knowledgeable information about what I'm getting ready to do so this is why I keep it to myself. I'm pretty young still, 26... and have been married going on 7 years and my wife is my support system, she sees how hard I try to lose weight and she is 100% behind my decision.
I worked as a Sheriff's Deputy in a jail near where I live for almost a year and then I had to step down to deal with some family issues, but I really want to go back. How long after surgery will you all guess that I have to wait before being cleared? The worst case scenario is pushing it too soon and getting in a fight with one of the inmates and me tearing stitches or something along those lines.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to introduce myself and if there's anything else you guys wanna know, you know where to find me.

  3. I think it is the complication risk that scares me. I had another (not related) simple procedure years ago that left me with irreversible nerve damage. It was one of the risks that was listed among the 1001 others. You always think "oh, that won't happen" but it did to me. 12 years of chronic pain later, I really read the possibilities.
Thank you so much for your reply. It really helped. God bless you and your upcoming life change. Am trying to get thru the clear liquid diet now and think that my hunger is overshadowing my fear! 21 hours to go [emoji3]

God bless you! You keep giving us updates. We are all here to help you. You got this. Lord, I come to you in Jesus name and I ask that you give strength to my new friend before during and after surgery. Protect her& guide her surgeon. In Jesus name amen.

I can understand your feelings. I am scheduled for surgery July 17 and I am anxious & happy. But my happiness is outweighing me being anxious. Kind of weird to have them at the same time. I had two surgeries on my feet in the past and risks were discussed & I understood them. Unfortunately, surgery wasnt successful so I will have to have another surgery next year. I have chronic pain too. I can accept that because I understood the risk & possible outcome. So, with the gastric bypass surgery I have a good understanding of the risks and to always check in with my doctor if I encounter any problems and or if something is not right. My surgeon Dr Joyce is such a great surgeon. I trust him. It really helps when you and your surgeon can bond. You trust him and he trusts you to call him when there is a problem. This is a big decision and it will get us on a healthier pathway. Choosing to be healthy is always a good thing. The thoughts I have about being healthy outweighs the risks or complications that may happen. God is good God give us strength

  5. My surgery (gastric bypass)is July 17. Time flies& so the countdown begins....For 7 months I have been researching & educating myself outside of the nutrition class on gastric bypass. I have been on many sites&seen many you tube videos & this forum and a couple others and really got a wide range of what to expect & my responsibilities. You learn a lot by the good hearts of others who have posted the details of what they have endured, conquered, struggled with& pros & cons. This forum is a blessing. It is so helpful. Its always a good thing to get as much education in such an important decision as this. So,all the July surgeries good luck to you all.. July is around the corner

  6. Lovenox injections are the blood clot preventative, but the only reason I will be on them post op is bc I have had a PE ( pulmonary Embolism) last October from shoulder surgery. I have never heard anything about a gallstone preventative. I hope this helps some[emoji3] My surgery is 6/21/17, next Wednesday (RNY)

Thank you for that information. Good luck to you next week

  7. My surgery is 6/21 and I got my scripts prior to this. I'm going to be on Lovenox for 3 weeks post op due to having blood clots in my lungs a couple years ago. I will also have Tylenol #3 liquid, Zofran, and Prilosec. I also have to take Vitamins and supplements.< br>

Well Good luck to you. Next week is your day! So they give you prescriptions before the surgery. Thats a good thing. My surgery is on July 17. My last surgical visit is July 7. Do the injections look hard to use? Will they show you how to use them?

Bought a couple of things for the preop diet/post op liquids phase. Gonna go out and buy gold standard whey Protein (all time fave); still have to get crystal light, protein bars & some more boxes of almond milk.
Any suggestions as what to get would be great!

Also try the Premier Protein! It tastes sooo good!

  9. What a blessing of a testimony you shared. God is great and we are all his children and to put him first & lean on him & fix your heart trusting God for everything including revelations on how to move forward in our success is a blessing. The truth shall set you free. God will always be with us. During our ups & downs in our weight loss journey we are not alone.

  10. Amen!! Thank you for the reminder that this a choice, an opportunity to change my life for the better. I am one week post-op, about 10'pounds down and beginning to feel hungry. I will not yield to temptation. I will increase my Protein intake and figh for what is rightfully mines (My health).

Youre welcome. Congrats on losing 10 lbs. Keep moving foward you can do this. Yes, make sure you get enough protein in. I noticed that the isolate protein spikes my insulin levels and makes me hungry an hour later so I tested the Premier Protein which is a milk protein whey concentrate and it keeps me full for hours. I believe they say it feeds your body slowly vs the isolate protein that goes through the body quickly that could lead to raising your insulin levels bringing on hunger.
