    Work Out

I'm allowed to walk as much as am able but no working out or strength training at this point. My follow up with the exercise physiologist is not until March, about 3 months out from surgery. We need to heal properly so no tears or rips happen and to give us time to get our energy back as our calories increase. But every doctor is different and we all need to follow our doctor's orders. Good luck on your journey!

9 days out and in pain

I think you should check in with your doctor. Going back to work 7 days post op seems a bit early to me. I'm out for 4 weeks but they took my gallbladder out too. Good luck and hoping you feel better soon.

    Daily calorie amount?

The calories and nutrition really come from your Vitamins and Protein shakes. The eating foods at s point is about adjusting our stomachs to eating again. Our stomachs are tiny and can only hold about 2 ounces at this point. Eat VERY SLOWLY to avoid the restriction feeling and to not over eat. We can't really eat too many calories at this point. Just cannot hold enough food for that. I found out yesterday that I was not getting enough carbs. No one ever told me about eating carbs in any classes. So I ate veggie/fruit baby food and with every tiny bite waited a full 2 minutes or longer between each bite. This worked very well for me. No restriction, backup into my throat and I could tell when I was satisfied and not take even 1 more tiny bite. Sometimes that's all it takes to push one over the comfortable edge. Good luck and I hope this helps!

    18 Days Post Op

Yeah I go back on the 13th and am a little concerned about the time it takes to eat and keep hydrated too. Also the energy it takes to work is not going to be there with so few calories. I know we will all adjust to the new us but it will be dicey for a bit am sure. I'm to start working from home the 20th of this month and feel that will make things much easier for all the activities involved and help me establish the new habits needed to be victorious!
  5. For me this is totally about adiction to food/eating. I'm in therapy now and before surgery. I'm an emotional eater. It was my entertainment, companion, soother, reward. You name it food took everything's place. I've done this since I was a little girl. Now at 54 changing thought patterns about food and eating is a challenge but one am willing to take on for the rest of my life. I want to be healthy and mobile! Morbid obesity and these 2 states of being do not go together. Something had to go and I choose to let go of the food/eating thing. Is this going to be the most difficult thing I've ever done? ABSOLUTELY! Will it continue to be at issue for the rest of my life. Most likely YES! I say BRING IT ON! I am worth the fight and struggle to remain healthy and mobile! Good luck and best wishes to all!

    18 Days Post Op

I'm just getting concerned on the restriction when eating. I just ate 4 dime sized bites of soft egg with cheese and am feeling major restriction and feeling uncomfortable. Is this normal? Maybe am swallowing air? I don't know feeling a bit discouraged. Opinions and personal experience welcomed!

    Constipation routine?

So can anyone suggest a brand and how often to take it?

    Habatchi steak house

I'm thinking chicken and veggies! Have fun and enjoy the socializing and good conversation. I'm only 3 weeks out so am totally guessing on the food. It really sounds like fun!
  10. I experiance head hunger at 20 days post op but I'm having major restriction when eating. Please be careful. It can be very uncomfortable to eat even 1 tiny bite more. I've never vomited but can feel in back up into my throat. Most of the time can't even get 2 oz of food in. I don't know how you feel but can't imagine feeling truly hungry at this point for myself. Best wishes and good luck to you!
  11. @ deeveg "I don't do that any more!" Very, very Good!!! Simple but powerful! Thanks!

    18 Days Post Op

Thanks for you words Carrie. I thought I was doing damage to my new stomach with eating but I see it is pretty normal. I think I'm just having some pretty significant swelling in the stomach still. I'll just slow way down and take it easy. I go back to work on the 13th of Feb so I've got 8 days of healing to go! This forum is really helpful and am happy to be a part of such a wonderful community!
  14. Thanks kmorri. I'll talk to the doctor!
  15. I started therapy before my surgery and will continue with therapy now that I'm post op. My first appointment back is tomorrow and I will be 21 days post op. I didn't get to 307 #s without food/eating issues. The sleeve is only a tool. My mind and emotions are the real problem with food/eating. I want to keep this weight off the rest of my life not just for summer or a special occasion. I will be fighting/dealing with my weight for the rest of my life. I just want to be prepared for the fight!
  16. I try to get some Protein, liquid or pureed, within the 1st hour of getting up. And yes for the time being I'm writting it all down including my Vitamins and meds until this all becomes like second nature. I measure my foods and liquids so I know what's going in me. This works for me and I have less chance of over eating and/or getting dehydrated. Hope this is helpful for you.
  17. I didn't do pureed for a couple of weeks, actually it was 10 days after I had my follow up. Am 19 days out today and am just now slowly trying to advance to soft. I'm a bit uncomfortable having eaten some very soft chicken chopped very fine with avocado mayo. It is still a bit tight in my tummy and I ate 1-2 TBS over 2 hours ago. Be careful cause it is pretty ouchy and unpleasant to eat to soon. Hope this helps! Good luck to you!

    18 Days Post Op

Hey Carrie, I think you and I must of had surgery very close to the same day. Mine was the 16th of January. I've done the clear/full liquids and am on pureed and slowly advancing to soft just today. I get full super fast with real food but liquids are pretty easy on me. I think my stomach is probably still quite swollen thus the full/tight feeling with foods. How are you doing with swelling in your tummy and discomfort with food?
  19. I'm 19 days post op and the liquids are going great but pureed/soft, just started soft today, is a bit tougher. I'm getting better at recognizing being full before I'm too full. It doesn't take but 2oz/4TBS of food to feel this way. I get heartburn every evening about 7pm or so. I just chew a Rolaids and it goes away. It is difficult for me to eat but hopefully with time that will get easier. Anyone have any suggestions? I really love this site and all of you going through the same thing. It really does help me to not feel alone! Thanks to all of you!

    Happy birthday to me

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! Mine is tomorrow and will be 19 days post op! YAY FOR US!
  21. Are you coughing crap out of your lungs? It is bound to be painful on the incisions for sure. I'm not a smoker myself but have had some coughing and sneezing too. It does hurt but can bare it. Everyone has a different pain tolerance. If you continue to cough I'd check with my doctor just to be safe. Take care and best wishes!

    Sleeved Jan 17th

I can totally relate folks. Am 18 days out and down several pounds but feeling pretty down and low. No more soothing these feelings with eating and food. This is not going to easy dealing with the emotions and feelings associated with this HUGE CHANGE we're all making. But we're doing this to save our lives and improve the quality of life we have. These changes don't come easy or without paying a cost. Change is always difficult but I believe in the end so very worth it to every one of us! Stay strong and take care of yourselves!
  23. Am so glad you're feeling better. I've heard others say the chili thing works great for them too. Good luck on you journey! I'm 18 post op and doing the pureed thing. I like egg beaters and 2% chesse slice and refried Beans and pureed meats. Yay for US!

    Gas-post op day 3

Girl I hear you! I had gas so bad for days and IT HURTS LIKE A BIG DOG!!! Just keep walking and walking as much as you can. Also rolling side to side in bed helped me. It can take days and days to get rid of it all. Don't give up it will get better! and don't be shy if you need to toot or burp. Just do what you need to do!
