    April sleevers!?

Tomorrow is the day!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe its really here, it's been such a long road from last August when I went for my first appointment with the surgeon. Been looking at before and after pics, reading comments to keep the nerves in the back of my mind and the joy right up in the front where it belongs!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck to all my April sleeve buddies.
  2. You look terrific!!!! Congratulations keep up the good work

    Day 1 of Pre-Op Diet

Hi, I have been on the diet for about 6 days and I have had moments when I feel "I got this" and then others like yesterday where I just want to cry (and of course eat!!). I tasted the Premier shake at one of my surgeon's support groups and couldn't finish the little cup of it that they gave us. So I went on an internet search, read reviews, and purchased a variety pack of powdered Bariatric Fusion. I ordered the flavors I liked (chocolate, orange cream, french vanilla, and Mint chip ice cream). I put them in the Nutri Bullet with crushed ice and a cup of 1% milk. I must say I look forward to them they are delicious, my husband is drinking them as well. Doesn't mean it isn't difficult it certainly is but at least I do enjoy the shakes. We have to hang in there and remember as we struggle it will all be worth it, and so many of us are dealing with the same issues you are not alone!! Good Luck
  7. Welcome, I am having a gastric sleeve on April 6, my emotions run from being o excited I could jump out of my skin, to terrified with some stops on the roller coaster in between LOL. But overall I am looking so forward to getting my life back and enjoying my 50's!! Good Luck
  8. Well as much as I hate to admit it and I know it's not what you are supposed to do, I had that mentality for the first few months of the 6 month diet. I didnt have an exact amount of weight to lose, but was terrified that insurance wouldn't approve if I didnt get my act together! Overall I gained 8 lbs from my first weigh in with the surgeon. Then I decided I needed to start mentally and physically preparing for my new life so although I would treat myself maybe once every 2 weeks or so and within limits, I started doing a high lean protein very low carb, no more wine diet. My insurance papers were submitted with the 8 lb weight gain and I was still approved for surgery on April 4. Have lost about 10 lbs since the healthier eating though. So to answer your question, I think the last meal mentality shouldn't be an everyday occurrence but for me if there was something I really wanted I had it but not night after night like I did in the beginning. Hope that helps; good luck!

    PINS AND NEEDLES

The waiting is awful. On one hand you want to throw yourself into preparing for the surgery mentally and physically, then you're afraid to count on it too much. I was approved today and the last few weeks have been a roller coaster. Keep positive, believe with all your heart, and come to this site when you need support, that's what I did. Good Luck, sounds like you have all your bases covered and have done what you need to do. Keeping good thoughts for you!

    April sleevers!?

Hi, I am scheduled for April 4th as well. Doing the 2 week preop diet now, its tough but I know it will be worth it!
  11. I started this journey in August (although thought about it for a year or so) with a seminar at the surgeon's office. Then had to do the 6 month supervised diet with the numerous consults and groups that many are familiar with here. Paperwork was submitted to EBCBS on Monday and now I wait. So sure about this decision, eager to get it done, tired of this weight and the box it has put me in. I want to embrace the spring and summer like I used to. Need this weight off of my knees and ankles, obesity is an awful disease that robs you of so much. Only 53 and feel like Im living the life of a much older person due to this weight. I come here everyday to remain inspired and energized, but the daunting thought that insurance might deny me is killing me.
  12. From waiting for approval to APPROVED!!!!!!!! Surgery is April 4th.  Guess Im officially an April sleever

  13. After almost 2 agonizing weeks of waiting I AM APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surgery date is April 4
  14. I'm thinking about it, but so afraid of the NO that I look at the phone and don't do it. Maybe tomorrow. Another thing this weight has done is make me uncomfortable asking anyone for anything, even the insurance worker at the other end of the phone!!! I know it's ridiculous LOL
  15. OMG you are so right, no one knows that feeling of wanting to go on a roller coaster so badly and eyeing the line to see if there are other heavy people going on and that pain in the pit of your stomach as you approach that you may not fit. A few years ago at Hershey with my grown sons and husband I went to go on the Cyclone which I was able to get on the year before and the seat belt wouldn't fit. I was so ashamed I just jumped out of the car and hid on a bench. I will NEVER forget that feeling so now I just sit on the sidelines, in pain cuz of knees and ankles, sweating because I cant wear the proper clothes for summer and watching people going on water rides as I just pray for the day to be over. We need to rewrite the story roller coasters it is!!!!!
  16. Thanks, I could use that hug right now, this wait is really getting to me. I hope we can help each other through this journey, no more boxes for us!!!!!
  17. YEAH!!!!!!!!! SO happy for you. Great News
  18. Congratulations!!! I'm still waiting, the Surgeon's office called on Friday and set up a tentative surgery date of April 4 but still waiting on insurance approval. With the storm here in NY Im pretty sure the office will be closed today, so no chance of that magical call today. I hope to be able to join all of you here who have been approved for April surgery. So happy for you all!

    Approved!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations, still waiting. So happy for you
  20. Yes we really are in this together, as I gained 1 lb fon my 6 month diet. I see all these stories of people losing so much weight preop and I get nervous about being denied. Its sad because I didn't get it at first and did a lot of "last meals" then the holidays, well you know how it goes. Now I am eating healthy, very low carb, lean protein lots of new recipes with veggies. Ive lost 4 lbs over the last month but its too late for that to factor in. But I KNOW I've got this now, I so want this surgery. We are basically the same height and weight. SO nice to find other to take this journey with!
  21. My husband and 2 sons are supportive as is my best friends, its the extended family, coworkers etc. that just don't get it and I guess as long as the people closest to me get it, I'm very lucky. Still stressing insurance approval, keep good thoughts for me everyone
  22. I am new to the site as well and am now waiting for insurance approval, yikes!! Anyway I get it, almost everyone I have told has said Im not big enough; and have you tried weight watchers ( I can wallpaper a room with my weight watchers books!). At 260 I am definitely big enough and want a new beginning.
