Hi, BLEV, Is this something that just started or have you had them before? I have muscle pain and joint pain but I have arthritis and Fibromyalgia. This didn't start since my RNY. I have had Fibro for around 16 years so I can't blame it on my weight loss. BTW I am 4 years out and my Fibro and arthritis have improved some. I hope you get some good answers from our group that can help you. BTW you have done awesome losing your weight!! KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!

Hello family, One thing I have noticed is that I had my gastric bypass on may 25th I wait in at 306, I'm 5 foot 10, so I carry it well, I am now a total of 245 pounds once again. 5 10 athletic build and I feel great. Currently, I have been noticing left hip pain to the point that if I left my left hip up, I hear a little pop and lower back pain, but I noticed that my hips and my butt and my legs are so much smaller and I was wondering if anyone has had this problem..

I am 8 weeks post op and I had the bypass. Lost 52 pounds and I went down two sizes. Went from a 2X shirt to an XL. Just be patient and your size will go down gradually.

This is a story about a young man who always had a smile on his face but knew he was different. Whether it be his heart or his waistline he always had the biggest in his class. He never let it hold him back because he saw the best in people when they couldn't see it in him.
He wasn’t always so confident about what life would hold for him. At the age of 12, he had gotten to 220 pounds. Due to a condition unrelated to his weight he suffered pain in his legs and ankles and required surgery to repair a curvature in his legs. Post-op, he gained even more weight. From age 12 to 16 he gained about 120 pounds.
It's hard to see the pain behind this cutie's smile, but when he was 16 he told a psychiatrist that he was ready to die. He felt like he maxed out on his potential in life and it would be okay if he wasn't around anymore. It was an extremely stressful time and he had no proper way to cope with anything, and he let himself get to 340 pounds. He had no values. He had no beliefs and he saw no purpose.
In 2010, his mom read a magazine article about the SickKids Team Obesity Management Program. Through STOMP, patients can access a team of health professionals, support groups and, for those who meet specific criteria, bariatric surgery. At the time, the program was focused on teens with other health issues, such as Type 2 diabetes, but he was still a solid fit. After three months, he had lost 20 pounds and the team was looking at surgical options. In August 2011 and weighing 300 pounds, he had a Roux-En-Y gastric bypass, a form of bariatric surgery
In less than a year he lost around 80 pounds, weighing 220 pounds. His life had changed significantly when it came to eating, but he was prepared for that and knew he would have to manage this for the rest of his life.
It wasn't perfect and for a few years post-op he struggled with multiple different complications, but he found a way to push through them and find some balance in his life.
He began to find purpose in his life. He went to nursing school, driven by the care and passion that many doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals poured into him along his journey. He wanted to give back and make a difference in other people's lives. He wanted others to see that they were just as worth the love and care he received.
He found values. He became accountable for his actions and saw what was truly important in his life. He became a lover of travelling, eating delicious food and engaging in fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle.
He developed a new set of beliefs - that every day is another chance to get stronger, to eat better, to live healthier and be the best version of himself because he is human - perfectly imperfect and worth it.
Thank you !!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Blev! Being 3 weeks out, can you give some of us who have surgeries coming up in July a couple of things you did to make the first couple of weeks go smoothly?
I would love to, I started out my surgery weight was 299 and after my surgery I rested for about maybe three days and then I started walking around my neighborhood slowly I had a walking stick with Water and my Protein which was the protein that has approximately 30 g of protein Sam's Club, and then I just continue to eat my broth and my two shakes, sugar free Jello and continue to sip or eat it every 15 minutes actually actually set an alarm on my phone to make sure that every 15 minutes I was sipping something and now at week three I did do like a 3 to 4 days stall and then as of today I have lost a total of 30 pounds so I recommend just staying on point with your diet and getting up and moving because it also helps to make sure blood clots are not going to be formed and just keep moving and that helps your metabolism and it's telling your body that you are doing something new now so my dietitian just shared with me yesterday that my stomach is the size of golf ball or I have the stomach the size of a banana and it's all in the mind tricking your mind to say this is it this is what I'm supposed to eat this is the exercise I am going to do and this is the life I'm going to live - hope that helps

This is my story and Journey after having my bypass years ago-9 to be specific. It all started out with a huge hiatal hernia to be repaired. My surgeon recommend me to seek lap band surgery, as being overweight might not hold the hernia repair , and he told me it would be a real diservice to me if he did not advice me to do so. So, off I went to a weight loss seminar, and spoke with Dr. Gregory Schroder as to wether or not I would be a candidate. He felt not, as having the Nisson Fundoplasty could potenuate problems down the road. I so appreciated his honesty, and he mentioned a surgeon who performs gastric bypasses to see if I was a candidate. Immediately I was, despite my history of depression and chrohns..
So off I go. Oh I was told that there could be complications such as a leak, and nausea post op, but this rarely happends. I was also told to be very strict with my diet, because after three years, your puch my be stretched, and weight gain indeed can happen. I was very compliant. Weight loss very successful.Hoever, ther have been so many complications down the road. My surgeon left to go to Doctor's Without Borders, and has left the state. I ended up having immediate surgeery to remove my gallbladder 1 year later. Dr. Shroder's group did that for me. Three years post-op I had an open strangulated hernia repair- again by Dr. Gregory Schroder. I suffer from chronic nausea and vomiting. I have terrible painful lower cramps as well. I had a picc line 3 years ago, as my weight has drooped so low due to the nausea and vomiting. My weight has dropped as low as 86 pounds. I just can't keep the weight on. How ironic life is. You'd think how nice it would be to eat and not gain a pound, but it has become a curse. I could not work anymore in my favorite job as a PACU nurse, as I didnt have the strength to move the stretchers anymore, or the stamina. The excertion just made my weight drop even more. I can work , but can't do physical labor anymore.
I want you to know I watch MY 600 POUND LIFE. My husband and daughter don't understand. So many people struggle with different things in their lifes. Life after surgery is a Journey in itself, and will always be. I so applaud those who share their stories, and know that the journey never stops. I share my story here, becaus gastric bypass is a serious surgery. I think people should really think about it instead of jumping on it right away like I did. Learn to love yourself. I know how hard it is to be overweight. Everyone wants a quick fix. I know I did. I wish everyone who does have the surgery much success. I will continue with my story as time progresses.
Bless you all-CBT
Wow amazing DR S was my surgeon awesome man
