  1. Who has started their Pre-Op diets? What do you drink / eat in a day? How are you feeling? I start pre-op tomorrow. My Dr has not requested it however I have decided to go ahead and do it so that I can go through the "withdraws" which I know I will have from past efforts and get that yuk stuff our before I also have post -op pain to worry about. Is anyone else using the Baritastic App?

I'm also using the Baritastic App. I'm on day 11 of my pre-op diet, which doesn't seem like one compared to everyone else's. I've fallen into this routine with it:

Breakfast: "full" Protein shake: made with soy (or unsweetened almond) milk, one scoop Protein powder, and 1 tbsp of chia seed powder. If I use vaniila Protein powder, I also add a 1/2 cup of frozen berries, like strawberries or raspberries to the shake (which I'm allowed). If I use chocolate protein powder, I also add some PB Peanut Butter powder (yum) and maybe half a banana.

Morning "snack": Syntrax nectar Protein Drink. It's just Water and the powder, but tastes great. I drink one of these throughout the morning.

Lunch: Right now I've been eating 100g (4oz) of some high quality salmon (or tuna) sashimi, with a side of cooked spinach and/or green salad. The last two come from the open deli section of my supermarket where I work. If I plan ahead, then I'll cook lunch which will be poached chicken or salmon on a bed of lettuce with some olive oil (1tbsp) for dressing.

Afternoon snack: Another Syntrax protein drink and/or a bottle of herbal tea (lots of varieties here in Japan).

Dinner: Surprisingly, I'm often not hungry for dinner, and have gone with just a Syntrax drink or tea and I'm usually okay. But my NUT wants me to keep my calories above 1200 each day, so to do that I'll either have some veggies (cherry tomatoes, etc.), gobo (burdock) salad, and/or maybe some chicken, fish, or thinly-sliced roast beef from the supermarket.

I have lost 12 pounds so far, but my NUT says the focus is not on losing weight, but shrinking the liver and establishing an alkaline environment for the stomach.

Is that day 11 of 14? Well done, Im on day 1, lol, feels a long way away.

  2. Started the pre surgery diet today, overall gluing ok. 3 Premier Protein shakes and 1 - meal but limited to 4oz no carb/sugar portions. (Plain lobster tail, chicken breast tenderloin, salmon, haddock, flounder or talapia). Allowed 1/2 cup of vegetables with the 1 meal. Water intake 48 oz

So far so good. Also at 7,000 steps for the day, 3,000 more to go!

is the 10,000 steps a day your goal or the Dr's. Wishing you all the best.

Mine, the doc wanted me to get at least 7,500 but wants to see it increase. Also want excessive 3 days par week 30 minutes.. How bout you?

Today was day 1 pre-op for me and it was ok. I was surprised that it can be difficult to meet the Protein quota and I was also very surprised by the calories in everything, I mean EVERYTHING! I started tracking today too. I got my 10000 steps today but that was because I swam for 29 minutes. Overall feeling ok if I don't think about food ;-)

  4. Getting kind of nervous surgery is scheduled for 1/31 have a horrible head cold ! Congestion & coughing Dr said it will be fine but so worried about coughing after surgery & not being able to breathe while already uncomfortable!!

Ok so don't laugh but I purchased a box of surgical masks at the pharmacy this week to wear in the week before. I have had a cold and cough and when I saw the anaesthesiologist he said, "get rid of the cough or be sure I will send you home" OMG. So I am reducing the amount of time spent out and about and wearing the masks at home because my kids are constantly bringing home germs from school, lol. Best of luck. Rest up.

  5. I started this journey in July 2016. I would read how emotionally draining this can be but I didn't believe it. I'm now scheduled for surgery 2/16 & I swear I just feel like crying disclaimer I'm NOT EVER the emotional girl/ person. I don't cry, I just don't lol but I'm sitting here reading posts & literally want to break out in tears wtf.

I started with one insurance July NUT, PSYCH, classes, weigh in & finally approved in November scheduled for 12/1 one week before surgery I get unapproved there was a clause in my insurance everyone missed *rolls eyes* continue weighing in change insurance get approved under new insurance this month now I'm scheduled for 2/16.

Today went to big Vitamins, getting recipes together, supply list I'm just overwhelmed & I haven't even had surgery. I'm also now getting anxiety about the actually surgery & post -op pain

f**k everyone who says this is the easy way out.

you are right, it is NOT the easy way out. I think all the PRE stuff is to make sure our mental approach has changed and is ready for new beginnings. I am curious what was on your supply list? It's funny because I am hear researching types of Protein for vegetarian Snacks etc.

    ❤️❤️❤️

I joined and then got nervous about posts being seen and unjoined. I checked and double checked my settings but I just got nervous that it would show up in someones side panel thing on FB (I get on my computer but not on the phone or laptop strangely enough) . I guess that speaks volumes as the way I am feeling right now. In order for me to have my Op I have to have a unit of A neg on standby. So the process here in Oman is that you have to find someone to donate on your behalf and they mark that unit against your name in that you have "deposited", it doesn't mean you get it but its like a bank deposit withdrawal system. So I have to ask someone to donate for me. BUT I have to find someone A neg. I really don't want to lie to anyone but I just didn't want to actually say I was having the surgery so now I am in a spot. But I will come on here and chat ;-)

  7. Best of luck guys. I posted in here a year ago saying I was getting sleeved soon. Ended up having it done on 29th February 2016. Fast forward 10 months and I have lost 45 kg and my BMI has gone from 41 to 25!!! Best decision I have EVER made.

That is brilliant, well done. Any stories or tips you want to share with a newbie?

  9. @erica_ozzy73--- that too is one of my fears... that I'll still be mentally hungry after going through all this.

I listened to an audiobook Ultimate Gastric Sleeve Success. It was a little preachy but he says a lot.. "If you don't change your behaviours you'll get the same results you always have".

I am not busy trying to list all the behaviours that have gotten me to this point because I'm not going through all of this for it to fail!

I got a lot out of this book and also the Big Book on the Gastric Sleeve.
