  1. I doubt you are adding a lot of muscle mass at this point. Running doesn't really bulk you up ... at all.

What it does do, though, is help store glycogen more efficiently in your muscles. Glycogen is mainly stored in your liver, but when your body sees it needs more resources, due to additional exercise, it will begin to also store glycogen in muscles. One of the differences, though, is when it is stored in muscles, it must also bond with Water in a 4 to 1 ratio. So, if you are storing an additional pound of glycogen, you also have to store an additional 4 pounds of Water. This equates to 5 additional pounds!

So then you think, "Woa! I'm giving up all exercise, then!"

Well, as you mention, your clothes are fitting better. I'm also guessing you have great energy and have a better overall feeling of wellness. Not even to mention the heightened metabolism. I know when I was running regularly, my body was a furnace and my weight loss was incredible. Don't worry about the scale or your doctors if you decide to stay committed to this. They will understand what exercise is doing for you.

And ditch the scale. It measures weight, not fat. What are you looking to lose?

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Your post really made a lot of sense. I feel so much better after reading it. I guess I will just keep at! The scale has to go down soon, right? Lol

  2. I recently started running again, I keep my calories at around 1200 and it seems like my scale is moving in the wrong direction! My clothes a fitting better though... But then there is that constant pressure to lose weight by my next Dr. Appt which has me stressed out! Have any of my fellow bandsters gone through this?

  3. I can eat bread. I have to be careful and still eat small though.

If you're looking for the band to stop you from eating bread or carbs, that's not how the band works. The band helps you feel satisfied with smaller portions of food but it's quite easy to eat around the band with bread, rice, potatoes etc.

The band is not a restrictive tool like the sleeve. The sleeve literally will not allow you to eat more than 4-6 ozs since that's the size of your stomach. Adjusted properly, the band will allow you to eat one or two bites at a time before you get stuck. If it's not adjusted to the green zone yet, you will remain hungry and be able to eat more food.< /p>

Your lower stomach is still the size of a small cantaloupe but the pouch is only about 2 ozs. If you drink with meals and wash the carbs through, you can eat till the cows come home.

Are you looking for satiety signals like burping, runny nose, hiccups? Do you feel that food is sometimes unappealing? Those are the signals you need to look for. Full or food stoppage is not something you want.

Thank you so much for your response,

A couple of my friends (that also have the band) told me it is very unusual that I am able to eat Ezekial bread. They said there is no way their band would allow them to process it. So of course it raised an eyebrow as to why I would be able to. I have been having consistent weight loss however I don't always full. I'm hoping with one more fill I might reach the green zone.

  4. Okay, I'm at 7cc's in 10cc band, I have okay restriction but to be honest I thought there would be more restriction at this point. I have NEVER had a "stuck" episode ( and no I'm not complaining about that) I could pretty much stomach anything if I wanted, like bread, crackers, .... The sole purpose for me getting the band is I knew it would help me eliminate those awful carbs from my diet. I however have been following the low carb lifestyle but when I have a weak moment it's hard not to want that piece of bread. Anyone else able to eat bread with no problems?

  5. Do not know who she is doing but so far so good for me weight slowly leaving but all is good still not at the no fill zone but time will tell. I find that I still have problems i forget there is a catch up time when u eat u need to stop and wait a few making sure you not full. but getting beter with that. at time i can eat a bunch of meat and veg but then there are times i eat a small amount and full the rest of the day.

I hear you; I'm currently at the "learn to listen to your band stage" .... the other day I think I ate too fast, boy was that uncomfortable! How many fills have you had?

  6. I have very positive things to say about the staff and Dr. Robbins. I do call them probably more than they do me, but I know they are busy. Plus,I only have me to think about and they have lots of folks to think about. I am supposed to go for my first fill in early January, so right now, I am in a little bit of "bandster hell", but not too bad.

I had a bad allergic reaction to the surgical glue (who knew??) but otherwise I am ok.

    When did you have surgery?

  7. I'm not in Germany... I am in the US and I Have Tricare Prime South. My bariatric navigator gave me a form which had all the Tricare requirements which was 3 months for me. I know it varies with Tricare on how long you have to do the Dr. Supervised visits. I have a friend that had to do 6 months. I also have another friend that didn't have to do any.... so it's either a hit or miss depending on where you're at.

  8. Dr. Marker did my surgery. I absolutely love the staff in the office and the preop process was great. After surgery it was close to impossible to schedule the post- op appointments. I was extremely disappointed. We had to move to Mobile a few months after LBS. I now have a dr. who actually makes appointments and great follow up care. Dothan could learn a thing or 2. The support group in Dothan us better though!

well that's a bummer to hear! I do the office is always busy and crowded though. :/

  9. I am also a patient of Dr Robbins. Scheduled for 30 October. So far I really like the staff there. They have been helpful and answered my questions quickly. I started the process July 8, so just a little more than the 3 months, but my time was truly filled up with making all of my appointments. Be glad to answer any questions that you may have :)

That is great please keep me posted on your progress. I should be finished with my 3 months in November, I'm hoping for a December surgery date.

  10. My Doctor is also Dr Robbins I am getting it done on 10/7/13 at Flowers, all the nurses in the office upstairs are really help full. Just i am going Wednesday for the SAC visit then lovenox instructions than all set just the waiting time after insurance approved it was not long less then a month and i did the 6 month diet

Thanks for the response, Do you know if they will fill your band during surgery? Good Luck, you are so close!
