Today is a special day!  I'm 6 months and 3 days postop, and the scale now reads the same weight I was when I graduated from High School (215)!  Ok, so .. yes, I was fat when I was 17!  Lol.  After graduating, I started dieting, and so from the ages of 18 to 23, I usually weighed somewhere between 145 and 200.  But after turning 23 and having had 3 pregnancies, I never got back down to onederland... (I'm almost 39 now).

Since my hair will not stop falling out and I still have a lot on my head. I decided to stick with the up-do.
I also added a picture of my ID at my highest weight versus today. I was sooo shocked by the difference.
My gym day. I wanted to show my setup at the gym so you can see what I do.
I have stopped losing weight but I am losing inches.

I went shopping again this weekend, building the Fall wardrobe. I was feeling kind of crappy because I had to get size 31 skinny jeans from J.Crew because of my hips and thighs. Then I thought about it. I used to have a 66 inch waist, my hips were 70 inches. That fact that I had to get size 31 jeans instead of 30 shouldn't be a real issue at this point. This is the point where weight loss just gets nitpicky. On the bright size. I wear a size 8 at Brooks Brothers! Also I got some size 10 over the knee boots from a brand that runs small and they fit perfect.

I just got back from a 3 week work trip (with 2 fun weekends thrown in).  I lost 3 pounds during that time, and I weighed 182 this morning.  I am now a normal BMI and 2 pounds from goal.  (Although I seriously question whether I really need to lose 2 more pounds...)  Exciting time!!

I purchased a blouse last week at Nordstrom without trying it on, just looked at it on the rack and purchased. I went back to get it in another color yesterday because when I wore it yesterday I loved it. I automatically picked the large because I assumed that was the size I had on. I asked the sales person to double check the tag of the top I was wearing, It was a medium! I usually buy medium tops now but sometimes I forget and grab larges. The sales person said "You have to remember you are little now!" That made me feel so good. When she said that, she had no idea how large I was when I started. When people that didn't know me when I was huge comment that I am small, it really helps it sink in with me that I am actually a small person now.

Broke my first chair yesterday   Yep.. weighed 300lbs for almost a decade, lose 84lbs, THEN break a chair!  LOL!  I was helping hubby at his work, cleaning up a kids' toy room.  Used a chair to stand on to get toys off the top of a shelf, and danged if it didn't snap suddenly under me.  It was one of those ancient school chairs...
{Shallow Hal moment.. what was the chair made of, anyway?  Uhh.. steeellll....)
Knocked me, face first, onto the concrete floor.  I lucked out with just some bruises.  I'm super weak, which I think worked out in my favor, because I tried, instinctively, to catch myself with an outstretched arm, but it just crumpled under the impact.  If I'd been stronger, I would have wrenched my shoulder, probably tearing my rotator cuff.
+1 for no gym time yet!  LOL!

Just about 4 months post-op and within 7 pounds of my goal. This morning I ran my fastest 2 miles at 12:20 average pace. I run faster when my dh runs with me. I haven't decided if this is a good thing or not..lol.. I do enjoy the company
I've come a long way in these 4 short months and it has been better than I imagined it would be. I love that I enjoy running and I am eating healthier then I ever have in my life. I feel hope for an active long life now where before I imagined myself dealing with the complications of having type 2 diabetes as I aged. Life is such a blessing and I am enjoying each new day!!

Ok, so I'm 16 weeks post op today, and am 50% of the way to my conservative goal (42% of the way to my stretch goal).  I don't know if it's good, bad, or ugly.. but I feel great!

Well...I just got my first lesson on how this surgery is a tool, not a miracle. Went grocery shopping hungry, bought some "extras", came home and made some poor choices for the rest of the day. It is scary how quickly the calories added up, and how quickly my sleeve feels empty after eating. I ate a lot of food
I feel bad, but I'm gonna use this as a lesson. First off, it's not the end of the world. I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow, and this is the first time I've fallen off the wagon. That level of adherence to my diet was unheard of preop - I always broke within a week or two. Also, I went back and re-read my NUT materials. It's a good time for a refresher. I'm gonna learn what I can and just move on. Yesterday's poor decisions have no control over my choices today.

I am 3 weeks post op yesterday for the Sleeve. At my 2 week check up, I had lost 23 lbs. I honestly didn't think I was going to make it through the first 2 weeks. Physically, I was making it through with flying colors !!! No issues, no problems, no pain.. nothing. I stopped the pain medicine the day after I arrived home and just took Tylenol. I am thankful that my surgery went so well.   I felt so good and as if nothing had happened ( and I also had a hernia repair at the same time) ........  BUT....the liquid diet after was horrific for me. I didn't feel full, I just stayed starving and hungry the entire time. It did an emotional number on me. I had Mothers Day to celebrate and fathers birthday to celebrate with a family of eaters. We go "out to eat" for everything !!! A trip to the store for goodness sake, they get something to eat. Yes, you can always bring your own soup... but for me... sitting at that table while t he appetizers and food and deserts are flowing was absolutely HORRIBLE. I just couldn't do it. I would often excuse myself and walk outside or keep taking trips to the bathroom just so I could be away from the table and the food or go sit in my car and cry.
Now, I am 3 weeks post op and I have learned that I don't go. I summoned the courage to tell my family " This is just too hard". I will return with them at the table when I can handle it ... and every day is getting easier... So, when my family gets together on the weekends or evenings for shopping or the zoo, or visiting antique stores ( family hobby)... I ask ahead of time if they will be stopping to eat.. If they do, I take my own car and head home at that point.
I guess my point to this is that no one thing works for everyone. You need to figure out what works and what doesn't work for you. We have diet guidelines but we don't have life guidelines. We have to figure out how to get along in this world after wls  and that isn't always easy. But, if we keep our eye on our goals and realize why we are doing this in the first place, we can make it. This is a journey. We didn't have all the answers before and we won't have them now...But with support and courage, we can find them.
