  1. If she isn't at the hospital, you need to take her back. They need to keep looking for a cause. My daughter developed a mild case of paresthesia as a drug reaction. It was a diuretic that could disrupt her electrolytes. She was fine after getting off the drug. ER, now if she's home.
  2. If a lot of people experience this between 6 and 8 weeks, it might be a natural progression of the healing sleeve. I'm 8 weeks out today, and I 've only experienced decreasing restriction. Sure, a chunk of solid meat is super filling, but soft foods continue being easy. I ate a full 4oz of tuna salad for dinner tonight.
  3. You could try going back on the antacid and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise, make sure you are getting 3 meals and a snack, solid food will be more satisfying than the shakes.
  4. Be sure to mention this to your team. Not saying there is a problem, but increased restriction can sometimes mean a stricture is getting started. If it's only been a day or two, you don't have to rush to the phone. But if the increased restriction continues its worth checking out, particularly if it impacts your ability to drink.
  5. Low grade fevers for 5 weeks? Do you have an elevated white count? How is your thyroid?
  6. Ok, tell her you thought about what she said about grazing, and realized 6 meals really is more than you need, so 3 meals and a snack is working just fine. As for the book.. Just slog through it, and hopefully by the end there will be a couple memorable stories or examples in it. You just have to memorize those examples (1 or 2), and focus on that. I asked about the reflux for me.. Was wondering how long it takes to show up
  7. If it helps, I don't think wild horses could make you go under the knife again after this one (Hugs) you are going to do great! I bet things will go better than last time since you aren't as heavy! And just think how much easier a time you'll have moving around once you're healed. Be prepared for your pubic area to be swollen for months afterwards because of the disruption to the vascular system (hinders drainage). Before the surgery, make sure you have a very reliable thermometer, and get in the habit of taking your temperature every day. That way you know what is normal for you. You need to monitor temps for a month after surgery. (it can take surprisingly long for infection to show up). Do you have someone that can take care of you and the house for a few weeks?
  8. I swear, when you're stopped in a road, indecisive as to which path to take, it can be such a relief to get a push in the right direction. It may seem strange, but I recommend sending that other woman flowers. She has done you a very good deed.
  9. A lot of docs can receive texted or emailed pics. See if they can take a look.
  10. With your starting weight, 10 days just wasn't long enough. My surgeon would have had you on a 21 day liquid diet. Not your fault! Just be sure not to cheat anymore
  11. If the book is standing in the way of your revision.. Just do it! How many meals a day are we talking? These are all little battles... Fight through each one, and you'll be golden! How many months did it take the acid to show up?
  12. You are so inspiring! Our stats are similar, except I'm just 8 weeks out today... nowhere near goal. I can only dream of looking half as good as you! Hope you don't mind my asking what size jean you are wearing...
  13. Periods post op are not going to be regular for many women. This means ovulation will be nearly impossible to predict. Which means pregnancy is possible. It also means that random spotting can happen and not mean anything. Pregnancy is contraindicated foe a year post op. Assuming you aren't pregnant now, please be more careful going forward
  14. Preop you have to be careful with the stimulants if you already have high blood pressure (lots of people that are looking at surgery do have high blood pressure). Ideally peeps learn new ways of living with food addictions, rather than depending on meds. But, this is something to be worked out with your doc and therapist.
  15. Oh my gosh, Sharon! It sounds like you need a second opinion. In the meantime, drink 1/2 to 2/3 of your calories. Keep trying solid food, but don't depend on it for your nutrition.
  16. Ditto everything Marinagirl said. I was happy to be alone so I wasn't kept up by my hubby's incessant typing on his laptop. He would have been so bored at the hospital, and somehow things would have been about him. Finally I got to have 4 days to just myself, and it was all about me.
  17. Since you've been on liquids, I'd recommend your first solids are like pudding consistency. You will get full very quickly. My first thing I tried was blended up split pea soup. Was full after 2-3 spoonfuls.
  18. I'm 8 weeks postop and could imagine starting a zumba class about now. I had a very easy recovery too.
  19. Ok, funny story. So my first boyfriend did just this. I had just met him, and we weren't going out, but somehow the fact that he had a "vienna sausage" came up in conversation. I was a virgin, so that was an appealing characteristic! Lol!
  20. Yes. Everyone feels fullness in a different way, but between the shoulder blades is a common area. As your stomach regains feeling, you may notice changes.. Or maybe it will always be this way Sounds like you are doing great!
  21. First of all, congratulations on the pregnancy! It is normal for restriction to become less as time goes on (even with the best surgical techniques). None of us can depend on restriction forever. We all have to change our relationship with food, what we eat, when, and how much. The surgery gives us a jump start, but ultimately the work remains. If you can find a counselor, that could be a big help. Alternatively, there are a ton of self help books, youtube videos, and the like. I enjoy watching youtube videos by bariatric surgeons to understand more about what the surgery does and doesn't do. Dr. Duc Vuong and Dr. Matthew Weiner are both great. (Hugs) Happy Mother's Day!
  22. Average weight loss is 15lbs each of the first 2 months, then it drops to 10lbs a month until about 6 months post op, after that it drops to 4-8 pounds monthly until maintenance is reached. There are faster and slower losers, but this is average.
  23. Last diet I was on, I lost 15lbs in 6 weeks, and that was pretty fast! That works out to a pound every 3 days, approximately. You are losing pounds in half the time! Why would you be discouraged?
  24. I did want to say, despite the squabbling the topic has caused, thank you for asking about this. Pizza was a super weak spot for me preop, so I'm sure I would have problems with it now too! You've been eating soup, eggs, and optifast.. You need to eat much more substantial food. Solid cuts of protein will give you some much needed satisfaction. I had a couple bites of rare steak today. Chewing for EVER, and so satisfying. Baked fish tomorrow.
  25. You won't need much. The things I needed most were extra pillows for the bed and a selection of anti-constipation meds. Milk of magnesia, fleet enemas, smooth move tea, etc. Get a small selection of calorie free beverages and water add ins. Don't stock up on any one thing because you don't know what you'll like postop. Practice making home made broth.
