  1. Since my surgery, I have been doing pretty good, but I'm so depressed and I don't know why.. I almost feel numb, to be honest. I'm wondering if maybe this could be post op depression... Has anyone experienced it? What did you do to make things better?
  2. I have an extremely low budget when it comes to what I have left out of my check for food. It's so hard to find healthy things for low prices. My main focus is on protein and thats what my doctor wants me to primarily focus on anyway. I've tried out HelloFresh meal delivery and it's not bad but I work overnight and my husband is on second shift so it doesn't make sense to buy something every week that may not get cooked. I've even tried couponing but I'm not very good at it. What can I do to make sure I'm getting the right nutrients, saving money and time, and stay in the right lane of what I'm supposed to be doing? (High Protein, Low Carb, Low Calorie) And so I'm not eating the same type of protein every day, because I like to mix things up a little. And what are some good recipes?
  3. HelloFresh was only 27$ a week for my husband and I -although it was only 3 meals, it did include all of the ingredients so I thought it was a good deal compared to what those ingredients would cost at Walmart. Can you explain Keto to me, please?
  4. I do have an Aldi about an hour away. What do you recommend?
  5. So I guess I'm not technically eating soft foods before I'm supposed to because my doctor told me to baby my stomach and if I felt like I was comfrotable to move from pureed foods to soft foods then no one knows my body better than me. I chew it up really good to where its almost like a pureed consistancy in my mouth and then slowly swollow small pieces. It hasnt been hurting my stomach but sometimes I feel it going down and it feels really weird, sometimes my chest starts hurting but it goes away and occasionally I'll start burping immediently afterwards, but I'm proud of myself. I got some turkey pinwheels from walmart and took the tortilla part out so now its just meat, a lil cheese and whatever sauce they use, it took me 5 hours but I finally ate all 6 pinwheels. Anyone else relate? Any advice for me?
  6. There were 6 pinwheels. I was able to eat 2 within the first hour, it took me literally the whole hour just to chew them up really well and swallow them. After I was done with the first 2, I did wait 30-45 minutes and I was able to get liquids in, and then I waited a little while longer and tried again because I needed the protein and the shakes don't sit well with me as well as they did pre op. Im not sure if I'm doing it right or not because I wasn't really given guidelines on how to eat, just how much protein I need to be getting a day.
  7. I did have the sleeve on March 24th, so I'll be 3 weeks out on Friday. I was able to start my pureed stage after a week and it went smoothly. When I went to my post op appointment the doctor said to trust my body and if I felt comfortable moving to softer foods like moist meats, eggs, etc then I should go for it. The only discomfort I've felt is in my chest and then I feel it go down my stomach but its not bad just weird. I lost 17 pounds and I have a hard time with my protein intake, so with me being able to eat some soft meats, that helps me a little.
  8. So excited. In less than 5 hours I'll be making my way to the losers bench Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Today is the day

It's good. I've been itching terribly, and I'm no longer on pain medicine but I'm good. I've actually lost 17 pounds and I go for my post op appointment tomorrow
  10. I'm 6 days post op and I'm itching. I know it's a mix of healing and the glue. The incisions aren't infected but the area around the glue is red. I'm so ready for the glue to come off. How long did it take for the glue to come off and what did you do to keep it from irritating the skin? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. My surgery date is March 24th and currently I have to take Seroquel, which is an antipsychotic medicine that helps with my moods and to help me sleep. However, a side effect of Seroquel is weight gain and I believe it may have been a small culprit with me as well as my PCOS. I want to talk to my doctor about switching me to another sleeping/anti depressant mediciation without weight gain as a side effect, but I have a high tolerance to certain medications and seroquel has been the only one ive tried to work on me. I've tried ambien, but i had hallucinations with it and I slept walk. Trazodone did not work. I've been on Prozac for anti depression and Celexa but both turned me into a zombie. My goal is to find something that doesn't turn me into a zombie, but will help me sleep without hallucinating and sleep walking or waking up feeling hung over. What's worked for you?

    2 insurances

Hi all, I have two insurances, both will cover the surgery but I'm not sure at what percentage. My question is, can approval be submitted to both insurances? One is a little more strict than the other and I think i may be denied through one but approved through the other. Has anyone went through a similar experience? The insurances are BC/BS of AL and BC/BS Anthem.
  14. I don't have sleep apnea and I was on Zoloft for a while and it made me feel sick, after that I did switch to Prozac but it never made me sleepy

    What to tell people?

I'm telling people I'm having surgery that will help with certain health conditions and that a side effect is weight loss. No one has really asked me what type of procedure.
  16. First off, OH MY GOSH, I'm getting sleeved on FRIDAY the 24th!!! My emotions are going crazy, but the crazy Alabama weather has my sinuses draining! I have my pre op blood work and final testing on Tuesday and I'm worried that I won't be able to have the surgery with my sinus draining. I don't feel sick or anything, its just draining and its annoying and I'm just worried that it could mess with the anesthesia. Anyone else go through this?
  17. Melatonin is iffy with me. I have to take multiple doses of it in order to go to sleep and stay asleep. Unfortunately, I think I'm one of those people who have to have prescription strength sleeping medicine. On another note though, I'm hoping and praying that the surgery will get rid of my insomnia and help me sleep better so I can stop taking medication to sleep, but if it does not, I need something pretty strong that will help me sleep and stay asleep without feeling hungover when I wake up.
  18. Seroquel has made me gain weight and has also played a part in making it hard for me to lose weight, so I really need to take something other than seroquel. And unfortunately, I have a very high tolerance to pain medicine, and it does nothing for me, unless its a very high dosage, and I would rather not be on pain medication for long. Long term, I need to go off of seroquel because I have a feeling it will slow me down when it comes to losing weight. I'm trying to find out what other options I have.
  19. As of yesterday, I finished all of my requirements to submit to insurance for pre-certification. The lady in the nutrition class said that from yesterday it takes up to 4 weeks to have surgery. I have already done my 6 month weigh ins, my psych eval, my nutrition classes, my stress test, breathing exercises and EKG, and h pylori test. I had some issues with my surgeons office because they did not want to submit everything to insurance and wanted me to start over because I had missed my November's weigh-in with my primary due to scheduling reasons because of Thanksgiving holiday. Needless to say, I wasn't just frustrated, I was pissed too, so I called my insurance BCBS of AL and they told me that yes they want 6 consecutive months but if I could get my primary to write a letter explaining that I wasn't seen in November due to thanksgiving and i got in within a week that I should be okay. So, I'm going to call BCBS in about a week to see if they've received everything and if I have been pre certified yet, but I don't know who I would need to speak with. Should I ask for a claims representative or should i ask for whoever approves surgeries? Also, if for any reason I am denied, how can I appeal my case considering that other than that one month that I was seen within 5 days of when I usually am seen, how can I turn around and get it approved?

Who do I need to ask for?

My surgeons office submitted everything on march 1st, including the detailed letter from my primary explaining that they were closed the week I normally see them. on march 6, I got the phone call that they did APPROVE me. So I think every insurance is different, but if anyone ever has to deal with what I did, make sure you get a detailed letter explaining why you missed a weigh in that month

    Surgery date

I got to choose my date. They had openings within 2 weeks - 4 weeks. I wanted to be the first surgery of the day (because of my anxiety) so they told me which date they had where I could be first and I decided to go ahead and take it.

    Waiting on Approval

Mine was submitted on March 1st and I got my approval on the 6th, good luck and try not to worry about it. It'll come in time.
  23. so, my doctor submitted everything to my insurance for pre-certification on March 1st. Yesterday, I called the insurance to verify that it had been recieved and it had but it was in "Pending" status. Yesterday evening my doctors office called and left me a message to call them back. I work overnight so I didnt get the voicemail til very late last night so I havent called them back to see what's going on. I'm nervous and my anxiety has got me in a whirlwind of emotions because my doctors office was hesitant about submitting everything anyway due to me not having a weigh in in november for my 6 months because the office I do the weigh ins at were closed due to the holidays. I had called insurance about it and they said to have the doctor doing the weigh ins write a letter explaining it was a scheduling issue on their behalf due to the holidays and that they saw me within a week of when my normal time to see them was. Let's just say my anxiety has gotten the best of me and I have gone into full panic attacks because of not knowing if i will be approved or not because of the above issues. I try to look on the bright side and tell my self that the call I recieved could be great news and that I shouldn't worry so much but me giving myself a pep talk hasnt been working lately. How do you guys deal with your anxiety?

    March 24th.
  25. I just got the phone call that I have been approved. Surgery is set for march 24th! i was worried for nothing, just goes to show that we shouldn't let our anxiety get the best of us because God has a plan for us and if it's in his will, he will allow it to happen.
