I had a lap band removal October 2016. It messed my insides up so bad I had to wait a year until I could have a revision, to which I had the Bypass October 10, 2017. I hope yours has not done any damage.

Nope. I personally think those are hyped up fads. Skin elasticity is dependent upon genes, time you've carried the extra weight, and how fast/slow you lose it. I don't think there's anything you can do to regain the elasticity.

You are correct no really good GI's will do lap band anymore they will refer you out to some GI doctor that knows how dangerous it is and the long term complications just to rake in the bucks! Anyone considering getting one should look up lawsuits for lap bands before they ever do it, and another thing is no one gets second opinions on this surgery they are just so happy and think it's the least invasive they jump..I know I did!
    Good luck!

I'm guessing because I don't have a huge amount of weight to lose, my fills are small.
Yes, I have lost my way a bit on my food choices.
I had a hysterectomy in April 2016 and that's when things started to go wrong.
Need to get my head back in the game. Any tips? ........ anyone!

I got the lap band in 2011 and did okay, but now I feel there is something not right. My band should be full, but I have no restrictions! I think I have a leak! Hungry all the time.

So spacegirl37 how's it going? Did you get your fill?
I am in the same boat. Have had my band empty since June of last year and looking forward to getting back on track. I have gained weight and I'm feeling bloated and uncomfortable all over again. I'd like to lose this extra 36 pounds to start with...and of course 3 weeks ago I pulled all the ligaments in my foot and ankle and have been hobbling around with a walking cast!
I hope a small fill will help stimulate the band and help with the hungry feelings...I'd like to get back to some kind of satiated feeling.

I originally was going in for a consult for gastric bypass, after meeting with the surgeon he recommended that the lapband would be a better choice for me. I had never heard of a lapband. After being told how less invasive this surgery was & the results would be terrific for me, I decided to do this. I was a self pay since my insurance wouldn't cover this type of procedure. So I took out a loan to pay this. I was banded in 2008 starting weight 213. My first 2 weeks I lost 8 pds easily. When I had my first visit I was given a fill. Within 3 months I was able to get down to 185. I was so excited. I went every month for a fill. Each time I told my Dr that I didn't feel any restrictions he said well let's see how you do. Each month he would fill a little more & each time I still wasn't feeling any restrictions. I just felt like I was being given the runaround by the Dr saying each time to see how it works. After having fills for a year which was included in my self pay I had not lost anything & had actually gained back all the weight plus more. At that point my Dr finally said well sometimes the band just doesn't work, no matter how many fills we've done. He even sent me for an ultrasound & another test that I had to drink some chalky drink so they could see if my band might have a leak or if it had slipped. Neither of those were the problem. I watched everything that went in my mouth & am an active walker. In order to see my Dr after the first year I had to pay $50 for the visit & another $50 if I wanted anymore fills. I did that once because at this point I was very upset that I paid over $14k & not have the band work. At that point my Dr said that they have come to realize that the band is not for everyone & that office is actually not going to be offering this anymore because of the low weight loss compared to other surgeries that have success. So if I wanted to have the band removed & go through with the gastric which I originally wanted done but listened to him as a surgeon to get banded then he would do it at a discount. Really a discount? Wow. Our current insurance now covers weight loss surgery so my plan is to see if I can get the removal covered since I want the gastric. My Dr said that I wouldn't have to go through all the normal procedures & loops with the wanting me to show that I've tried to lose weight, attend meetings, etc since the band failed they would push it through for gastric. So this will be my goal hopefully before the end of this year or early next year. Very disappointed that I was ever talked into be banded. It really isn't for everyone.

The nutritionist told me I couldn't have fruits for a few months, this month is just meat, fish, chicken, cheese. Veggies next month and then I think fruits month three.
I do eat it with nothing else, no bread. The chopped liver tasting chicken salad I made would have been AMAZING on ritz crackers, but it's not meant to be. I just plop out 3 or so ounces on a plate and dig in. I eat very slowly, takes about 20-30 minutes to finish. I wouldn't waste your meals on fruit and veggies just yet, you need to get in your Protein and the meats and such will have the most. But of course I'm not a doctor, if your doctor allows it then have at it and enjoy!
Also, I was reading another thread here and someone recommended looking up The World According to Eggface for recipe ideas and I've been going through her page. Already found a great article she did on pureed foods post-surgery here: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html
I'm going to try some of these out tonight or tomorrow. Good luck!!

    Thanks man,
I try to keep it real honest. This is a major life choice and you need to go into it well informed and educated and dont need anyone blowing smoke up your ass.. Too many less than moral doctors out there.

I'm trying my best to just think of my daughter. She has truly been a blessing to our lives. I just think she deserves this. I'm still afraid but I'm going through with this. I'm just praying for the best.
