  1. I'm 35, almost 2 years post-op and just found out I'm pregnant (5wks). My MIL didn't have WLS but she had her first child (my husband) when she was 40 and her second child (his younger brother) at 45. They're both happy, healthy men. Although she did tell me she did not recommend waiting until I'm in my 40s to have kids, just because it was hard to keep up with the kids.
  2. I'm almost 5 weeks pregnant. I've been using a couple of scoops of unflavored protein powder in my morning smoothies. I do a cup of baby spinach, a cup of frozen fruit, a cup and a half of almond milk, and a banana, then some protein powder mixed in there. It's the only way I get healthy stuff in me for breakfast since sold food is seriously unattractive until later in the day.

    Venting my depression

What you're feeling is so normal after surgery. Give yourself some time. Get out for short walks. Follow your doctor's directions. Definitely seek some therapy too. It is such a vital part of your post-op care! If you feel like you can't talk to your current therapist about what's going one, find a new one that you are comfortable talking to. 4. Good morning! I'm about 16 months out from VSG and I think I'm pregnant. Heading to my primary care for a test this afternoon. Should I ask about doing bloodwork to check my vitamin levels? I haven't had my 1 year post op bloodwork yet because I haven't had time to schedule it and the follow up. Is there anything else I should know or ask about? When can we eat salad again?

I was never told not to, but I will say that even more than a year out certain raw veggies are really uncomfortable for me.

    Having second thoughts... Help!

Remember why you chose this path. Is it difficult? Yeah, of course. You're having most of an organ removed and changing the way you eat forever. That's huge! But I can tell you, at about 15 months out, this is the best decision I've ever made. I'm healthier, happier, and on the completely vain side of things, I look better than I have in a while! It's all worth it. You can do this! You also have our support.
  7. I had a similar issue for my first few months post-op. Yogurt was fine. Cottage cheese? Fine! Milk to mix a protein shake? Bad. So bad. I've taken to mixing my shakes with almond milk. I can have regular milk now without getting sick, but sometimes it doesn't sit right.
  8. Hey, fellow October sleevers! How are you all doing? I hit Onederland a couple weeks ago and my weight loss is starting to slow down, but I feel great.
  9. You're absolutely right. We can't use food to make us feel better anymore and actually have to feel things now. It's not fun but we can get through. I'm having to learn that not all negative feelings are bad. It's ok to have them. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Swollen belly

Give it a few weeks. I wore leggings and stretchy clothes til about 4 weeks out I think. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. It will get better, I promise. You are only 12 days out and your body will take some time to heal. I started feeling better around 3 weeks out and back to normal energy level around 6 weeks. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Eating habits

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time! I eat kind of hobbit style as well, about every 3 hours.
  13. Oh! I will say cutting it short has helped. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. I have the same dilemma. It's my only real complaint right now. I've got a bald spot near the front of my head that I hide reasonably well with headbands. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app

  16. Hello! I'm 2 months post-op and have been really successful so far, now it's time to up my activity level again. I had a FitBit Flex for a while, but it died recently. Any suggestions on what to get? I don't need a lot of bells and whistles. As long as it can keep track of my steps/mileage/calories burned I'm a happy girl.
  17. I would say this is the best decision I've ever made. I had minimal pain, no problems getting my fluids down, and no problems eating. About 2 weeks before surgery I was very nervous as well but I met some of my surgeon's other patients in the waiting room of his office and they share their experiences with me and it helped a lot. Everything will be fine! You will be fine! Even better than fine.

What was for breakfast this morning?

My breakfast is usually coffee with some protein powder mixed in. While the coffee is brewing, I make a sort of paste with my vanilla protein powder and a little almond milk. Then when the coffee is ready I pour it in. It keeps me satisfied til my break time. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. Hello! Just a quick question. I've been on Xanax to control my panic attacks for about a year a d a half now. Pre-op, I could take a half mg and have no trouble staying awake. It just took the edge off enough that I could deal with what was happening. Now, 3 months post-op, I started needing to take it again and it puts me right to sleep! Anyone else experience a change like this? Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Xanax post-op?

Until I see my doctor next week, I'll just end up taking .25mg instead. That much is obvious really. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced their anti-anxiety med being more potent. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app
