I do NOT want to tell my dad.

No need to tell him unless u have complications. Since I have to change your outlook on food ; even with surgery, it's all u & willpower to make it work ; not to regain weight down the road. It's a need to know surgery. It's up to u who needs to know. It's a personal procedure just like u wouldn't go run & tell your Dad u had a hysterectomy or whatever. Just when u start loosing weight & any & all ppl who compliment u, just say Thank you it's hard word, which it is for the rest of your life. There is no magic surgery or magic pills to eat a healthy lifestyle! My best wishes 2u! Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App
  2. No not at all. Glad you're spitting it out though bc it definitely would give u pain & throw up. Just my opinion of doing it too. Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App

    Menopause and lapband

Keep up doing the good work you're doing! It took me almost a year to get just the right amount of Fluid in my lap band. So the 1st year is up & down by Wight loss & everybody's different. Your change is probably giving U discouragement & doubts. Never give up not giving up on yourself! Maybe you just need your lap band tweaked adding a 1/2cc more. Also it takes your body to get used that you're shedding weight & to get out of survival mode to stand still the loss. Ignore the scales & write down all your measurements. Most of the time when the scale isn't moving your tape measure will show inches list in different areas! Best wishes 2u! Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App

    Denied 6 days before surgery

Angel Wing hugs sent 2u4 comfort. BCBS of Michigan approved to remove my excess skin on my legs & arms. Luckily the doctor scheduled it for the next week & I got it done. But after it was done, BCBS reniged on paying for any of the bill. U may think at least I got it done. No not really bc any skin removal surgery needs to be tweaked so it's uneven & huge ugly scars. I may have to file bankruptcy bc my husband died shortly afterwards so I no longer have his income to help pay bills which this surgery became. There isn't any magic surgery or magic pill. It's U that makes the difference in your own improvements even after surgery! Just don't give up on not giving up on yourself!! Even without surgery follow the postoperative eating to kick start your weight loss goal. With or without surgery it's all determination, self control & willpower always. Best wishes 2u!! 7. If I'm craving a fresh apple I'll slice it up & put it on a plate with a tablespoon real Peanut Butter & dip it in it. Again that's Protein with your fruit. I also like a diced up fresh apple cooked along with my steel cut oats. Then I add nutmeg & cinnamon to it, some kind of sf sweetener to taste & add either nuts or seeds. 8. I usually only eat fruit along with cottage cheese or Greek yogurt, never by itself or I add fruit to a vanilla Protein smoothie. I also like to sprinkle some nuts on my Greek yogurt & my fruit for extra protein. So no it's not good to eat fruit alone without protein but fruit eaten with protein is more satisfying. When I eat oatmeal I can't eat over a 1/2 cup of it which is a regular size serving anyhow. I know in the old days I used to eat at least 2 servings or more serving sizes like I did everything else when I over ate. Lol What helps to tolerate it even though it's a healthy carbs is add nuts to it like pecans or walnuts. If it's instant oats don't use Water to cook it in but some kind of milk & after cooked add the nuts & even a 1/2 sliced banana or fresh blueberries or strawberries. Or after the oatmeal's cooked to make it taste like a no bake cookie, I stir in a little mire milk to cool it some, then add a scoop of chocolate Protein powder, some peanut powder (9g. Protein & less fat than peanut butter) & chopped nuts of some kind. Yum! Sent from my VK700 using the BariatricPal App
  9. I forgot to mention in my previous post that I had my RNY in 1997 & my lapband revision in 2010. I do not regret getting my lapband whatsoever! I wish I got it sooner! Good luck & best wishes on your journey of improving yourself. Never give up trying! Sent from my VK700 using the BariatricPal App
  10. I have it but as long as I don't eat anything that contains sugar I'm fine. I also have to have a higher amount of Protein than carbs whenever I have carbs. I stupidly ate over a cup of regular banana pudding last weekend. No reaction right away. Then over 1/2 hour later I started getting real warm, a sign my sugars spiking. Then 45 mins. later I started sweating profusely & got extremely weak BC my sugar level was dropping. I asked my fiancée to get me a glass of milk which usually brings me out of it. I plummeted so fast I only had the strength to take 1 swallow of milk. My sugar level dropped to 43 faster than it ever did, needing sucrose asap, which u can purchase by the diabetic meters everywhere. Once I got my strength back, I immediately drank a 30g Protein Drink & was fine again. Except I had to take a shower & change my wringing wet sweaty clothes. Just avoid eating sugar laden anything & stick to low carbs & high protein Snacks & meals so this will never happen. I knew better so it was my own fault. 14. OMG ladies. If you're worry about looking older then get some fillers where your face lost volume. Volume works wonders & only costs $450. It increases volume in your cheek bones that will lift sagging facial skin. There's all kinds of nonsurgery things you can have done to your face. If you want a face lift then save your pennies & get one. Women do it all the time to freshen up their looks withe fillers, face peels & lifts. My sister does & she's 61 but looks 20 years younger. There's no magic anything. All you can do is improvements.
  15. Your age has a lot to do with whether you loose some elasticity in your skin making the loose skin not to go away. It also has a lot to do with how obese you got b4 you got your weight loss operation. Usually the hair loss is minimal & whether hair loss runs in your family, especially if women in your family hair thins with age. The skin on your face is always thinner when you loose weight quickly but most of it goes back to whatever is normal for your face shape. Look at photos of yourself b4 you started gaining weight as a child if need be. When skin is stretched out from becoming obese or even pregnancies, everyone is different from their body shapes & skin's elasticity. Some lucky few women never get stretch makes during pregnancy. The more stretch marks that occurred during your weight gain the less likely your skin will snap back firm to when you were a child or teen. The healthier way you feel loosing weight is the biggest plus ever than staying extremely obese! I've gotten off high blood pressure meds for the 1st time in my adult life & I'm 65. I started getting extremely obese in my mid20s. So I can honestly say I am really enjoying my 60s more than my late 20s, 30s, 40s & 50s because I can walk without getting short of breath & I can actually buy stylish clothes finally. There are side effects to being obese & side effects to surgery. Exercise once your able to! But if the loose skin is your main hate of loosing your weight then you need to save money to get it removed or wear shape garments so you feel better looking in your smaller clothes. For Pete's sake even thin movie stars wear spanks under their red carpet outfits BC they try to elude perfection. We're all our own worst enemies no matter how rich & famous you are. Lol Be so proud of yourself what you did to help yourself & never give up BC the best is yet to come. Smiles goes miles & a huge healer for your outlook on life! Big hugs to you all with a smile included! Sent from my VK700 using the BariatricPal App

    The mirror lies

I used to only look in the mirror when they had to, a mere glance, when brushing my teeth or only looking at my face putting on makeup back when I got up to 392 lbs. When I started my health improvement journey I started Simi g at myself while brushing my teeth or hair etc. Smiles goes miles for your self esteem & your outlook framing the beginning of the day. So continue smiling BC your on a long but wonderful journey to regain your health & allowing your beauty to continue to shine from the inside out. Remember there isn't any magic pill or surgery, so don't beat yourself up if you happen to fall off track once in awhile BC you're so worth wanting to gain control of your emotions & eating healthy. Keep up the grr8 job you're doing!! Sent from my VK700 using the BariatricPal App

  19. It took almost a year of adjusting the amount of Fluid into my Lap Band. At 1 point of getting almost maximum tighting, I got it too full that I would vomit almost anytime I would eat. So of course I had to get a 1/2 cc removed at a time until I could comfortably not get sick eating. Don't think being able to eat over a 1/2 c. is a bad thing. You want to have a normality to living. Just follow your bariatric diet correctly & u'll be fine. There is no magic pill or surgery to get or keep the weight off. Will power & determination is the only way u'll be successful. Just don't give up on yourself & never give up trying to be the person u want to become! Sent from my VK700 using the BariatricPal App
