  1. I HAD to step on the scale today, and I had to get back on like 10 more times!! I started a pre-op diet 2 days before surgery and before I left for the hospital I was down 5 pounds. So my high was 270, pre-surgery was 265 and today it's at 250! How friggin exciting is that!!! I couldn't believe my little eyes! That means that this is gonna work! Plus I'm overcoming my head hunger, I think thats the hardest part! But wahoo!!!!
  2. This was an issue my mom had too. It took her about 2 months to feel totally "normal" again. She took it slow. She didn't go to the gym, she just walked around her neighboorhood and did some light weight lifting at home. She started the gym a month after her surgery and had a few days that she was so exhausted. Like grey said, take it easy on yourself. this is the time for our bodies to heal and even though we may feel good our insides are still trying to recover. It'll get better!
  3. wahoooooooooooooo!!! awesome work!! congrats girl! :rolleyes2:
  4. thanks for the help everyone! chewing gum seems to help for a little while but not very long. guess i'll just have to suck it up!
  5. totally agree with Smartie. my hubby was totally happy with me too, but he said I needed to do whatever it took to make ME happy! We are here to answer any questions you have! Welcome aboard!
  6. I have a horrible taste in my mouth all the time, anyone else dealing with this? If you've dealt with this how do I get rid of it? It's at the point that I don't want to eat anything because the taste is so gross. Anyone help??? thanks!
  7. Hello Jenny! You are making a great choice that will change your life! I was just banded on the 16th and I couldn't be happier! It's def not easy but it's totally worth it! Keep us posted on your date!
  8. tomorrow just walk walk walk! i was feeling like i had gas and I walked and it was gone within 5 minutes. so i know sitting in the plane and the car was bad for ya! poor thing! how do you feel aside from that?
  9. maybe i'm not reading my book right but my surgeon says to drink until full. but i have no clue how much that is? i'm having a difficult time distinguishing between full and hungry! i swear I feel totally normal, like there's no band in there! ok i read my book again, and it says my fluid goal is 48-64 oz per day with 60-80grams of protein a day. My sample menu suggests drinking 8oz of water over 2 hours.
  10. very cool! i sent ya my info!!
  11. Real tea sounds wonderful Amanda! Glad that you got to go by the river and relax a little! And hooray for going home!!! let us know when you get there!! how are you feeling?
  12. I am so sorry for your loss. I can't be much hellp because I just got banded and haven't had a fill or anything. If you want a friend and an ear I'm here. Hang in there. I'm sure someone will be able to help.
  13. thats strange to me! i had to have 3 shots of heparin a day while i was at the hospital but nothing for blod clots after leaving the hospital. Sorry I can't help you, hope you get an answer!
  14. Tonight I wanted to try something a bit different, rather than just having a protein drink. So I put the vanilla drink in the blender and added 1c ff milk and 3 TBSP Cinnamon plus (from Pampered Chef, basically just has cin, nutmeg, and all spice) and it tastes just like egg nog, without the egg thickness! it's delicious! :cursing:
  15. wahoo! congrats!!! keep up the will power! :cursing:
  16. sorry that she said that. i'd have told her just you wait. there will always be people that say that this is easy and that we're still lazy but I just can't wait to prove them all wrong!
  17. Yeah I am home Amanda! Hang in there!! How fun you got your nails done mimieg! thats a treat for my first mini goal! I have yet to have any gas pains, I have been walking every hour though, unless I'm sleeping! So I think that has helped a ton!
  18. I'm feeling great! I've had some cream Soup, lots of Water, and a milk shake. I got a shower today too! Boy its nice to feel human again!! The walking is wonderful! I really think that the more you walk the faster/better you'll heal! I agree with Grey, maybe you should try to take advantage of the not smoking and stick with it! It really does slow down your healing process. But don't get discouraged! I'm sure you'll get it eventually! So when do you get to go home?
  19. Is there an Ikea close to you?? They have the BEST bowls, plates and utensils around. They are perfect portions and they come in a 4 or 5 pack for less than 2 bucks. If there isn't one close to you, maybe a family member has one close to them? They really are the greatest!
  20. Hang in there Amanda! We had our surgeries the same day and I can feel your pain! Although I don't smoke I know alot of people that do and it's tough! Just keep your head up and keep walking! It is great to walk and walk and walk!
  21. I can't help but I am interested to know what these shots are for? It's not something I've heard of before. I hope that someone can answer your question!
  22. thats so awesome! congrats!!! i'd be going back too! lol!
  23. Here is my simple and short story! I arrived at the hospital at 9:15 am, at about 9:45 a nice nurse called me back. He got my weight, height, etc. Took me to a room and had me pee in a cup to confirm I am not prego. Then he had me change into the oober fashionable hospital gown. A guy from x-ray came and did a chest x-ray, which took about 5 mins. Then another nurse came in and started an iv, put the nausea patch behind my ear, and then gave me an anti-anxiety pill. Then the anesthesiologist came in and gave me a "happy" shot into my iv. He proceeded to tell me what would be happening once we got to the OR. My mom came in and kissed me and said see ya soon. Thats the last thing I remember. I woke up about 45 mins after surgery, and then got moved up to my recovery room. They had told my mom it was gonna be about 3 before I'd be in my room so she left to get my dad but I was back in my room around 1:15. So I had to hang out awhile alone, but it was ok. I drifted in and out of sleep. Within an hour of getting into my room I was up and walking. I had awesome nurses! They were all very impressed at how fast I was progressing. I started to walk alone even. Then they were able to take off my oxygen, and the leg compresses. My parents got to the room and we hung out for a little bit. But then my dad had to get back to work. I got to call my hubby and talk to him for awhile. I slept about 8 hours and woke up around 4 am. All through the night I ate popsicles and ice chips and drank water. I got to have chicken broth, and jello. Once after I got to the room and then again this morning. My surgeon came in and checked my incisions and said you ready to go home! So I was released about 10 and came home. I have been great all day today although I think I overdid it a bit so I ended up taking more vicodin this evening but I feel great. I got permission to have a milk shake on my way home, and then I've been able to drink my liquids and I have done great. I got to have one scrambled egg tonight and it was good but my taste buds are all out of whack! lol! But I am doing great!! I couldn't be happier with my decision to have this done! Good luck to all of you that will be having this done!
  24. simply had to write down the things I have tried. I've done WW for a long time but only lost 40 pounds in a year and a half. I tried Atkins, South Beach and also medifast. The only thing I really had to show was the WW log book thingy, and they took my word on it for the rest of it.
