Ok, here is a gloom doom scenario for you. A lady had emergency C-section in California and was fine but about a month later drove to Idaho to be with family. Survived the drive but as she walked upstairs to second floor of house, collapsed and died from blood clot (pulmonary embolism) I am no doctor but I wouldn't travel until Dr. Cleared me 100%. I also wear compression thigh high "socks" while I sleep and try to walk around every hour or so. Be safe!

I've had a lot of success with Tapas restaurants. Tapas restaurants are a Spanish tradition where you get "small plates" of food that you share with friends or family. It's a great way to get some variety without a lot of food. A lot of times the food is grilled, and there's a great sampling of veggie and meat choices. Also, they often serve a lot of seafood, which is high in Protein and typically low in fat. YUMS!

TGI Friday's has Shrimp Key West. Love it. Perfect portion. comes with 2 skewers of shrimp and steamed broccoli. Only entree that I don't need a doggie bag

For me it depends on the food and how dense it is. At just over 2 years post-op, the ideal MEAL size for me is 1/2 - 3/4 cup or 2 to 3 ounces of dense Protein and a couple bites of veggies. If I take 1 or 2 bites too many, then I'm miserable for about the next hour. I don't like how I feel physically or psychologically when I've eaten more than what my tummy can handle at a meal, so I try not to go there.

I'm only 3 weeks post op, but I was supposed to be able to start eating tuna last Thursday. I've tried twice and it's been a chore both times. Even mixed with mayo, it's soooooo dry and since we can't drink while eating, it's tough to get down.

Most people seem to be uninformed about a lot of things, but always ready to offer an opinion. Probably the best thing you can do for your relationship with your mother is to be patient with her, and provide information that shows how safe this is. Heck, you can quote me if you want. I had two friends, one of them Mrs. LittleBill's maid of honor, who died from this surgery. But that was many years ago. I might have gone through with this sooner if they hadn't, but I finally got around to it, and I am still here, posting away as I waste away. Things have really improved over the years. You're in more danger going shopping in Chicago.
