Hi Moe, im having my surgery with dr illan on the 1st. This post just helped me a lot thank you. I wanted to ask you if you felt the need to go back for a follow up check up? My concern is that my insurance wont give me medical attention if something might go wrong after surgery: infection, leak or what not. I know your surgery was a while back but how did everything heal for you? Thank you in advance

Hi everyone, so i went through similar problems too with kaiser. Having to take days off work=no pay for the day! Paying co pays evry damn visit, having a goal weight to meet which i couldnt do it, keep food logs, paying nutritionist to check your log, they give u 6 mnths to go through all your apts and to lose the weight needed before you can get a surgery date, i couldnt do it in the 6 mnths so it means id have to do the whole process all over again for another 6 months with what money? So i looked into surgery in MX. I did research and so i made the decision of going with self pay, it costs as much as what my co pay with insurance was going to be. My surgery is on March 1st. So far im happy i went somewhere else. I hope things get better for you Zoe

My surgery is March 1 and i am on the same boat as you. I hardly sleep just thinking about it, thinking of the changes, complications. But i try to think more on the possitive things that are to come. And i trust in God as well. Try to relax I will do the same. Good luck

Just be carefull bc paying more does not mean better care, ive read a few stories of ppl that have gone to a more pricey dr and got bad treatment so only look at the surgeon, hospital etc. I was looking into Dr. A.C. As well but i never got my skype call, never followed up in email either so i didnt see any interest in their part and i also read that he isnt supported by this bariatric organization but ultimately do your research and good luck to you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Im form california and Kaiser makes you quit 3 months before surgery ive always smoke weed and my test came out clean when i had a toxicology test done. Its not the state but the hospital you go through. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Always eat your Protein first as much as you can lile make a quick chicken Soup, simmer it until very tender and you can even blend it a bit and youll have a very satisfying meal. @@chels_bellz I'm in SJ too I was trying the Kaiser program but I couldn't meet goal weight and u have 6 months to do it or try again for another 6 months so now I'm getting my sleeve in MX March 1st.
