  1. Hello All! What were some of your favorite foods on each phase after surgery? I'm having surgery 6/19 and have ideas from my dietitian and the booklet the WL clinic gave me, but would like to hear from you guys too! I feel that this could be helpful to all pre-opers out there. Full liquid phase, purée phase, soft food phase and regular diet ideas please!

  6. I finished my last nutrition appointment on 5/3 and was told they would start compiling my information to send off to insurance, but it could take up to a week. And then 3-6 weeks to hear a response. I was devastated that a June surgery wasn't going to be do-able. Well, TODAY- less than a week since my last appt, I got a call that insurance was approved. My surgery is scheduled on June 19th, with my pre-op appointment with a nurse practitioner being June 2nd. Woohoo! Here is my timeline for anyone looking for a timeline. I know I was very curious early on. The countdown is officially on January 2017- online seminar January- booked first 3 appointments and insurance was verified for coverage 3-1- Bariatrican appointment lab work completed Cleared for surgery from Bariatrican 3-2- Psychiatric evaluation Cleared for surgery from psychologist EKG completed 3-7- abdominal ultrasound completed 3-16- Nutrition appt #1 3-31- surgeon appointment 4-6- upper endoscopy completed and cleared from surgeon 4-12-nutrition appt #2 5-3- nutrition appt #3 5-8- beginning to compile information to send to insurance 5-9- approved!!!! Booked APN appt 6/2 and Surgery 6/19!!!!!!!!!!

    Everything is going FAST!

I have blue cross blue shield of IL ***. I had no diet requirement for insurance.
  8. Hello All! Has anyone gotten their vitamins and supplements through their insurance? My nutritionist and surgeon sent in a prescription to my insurance for "Nutrition DIrect". With insurance they are $25 a month and mailed directly to my house each month. They were recommended because of their B12 nasal spray. I am very curious to see how this all works out. They will be sent the week before surgery, so everything will be good to go. Very curious to see if other RNYers have dealt with them.

    Vitamins through Insurance

Did you get approved with insure nutrition? They sent the information to my insurance, but I have yet to hear back. I don't think I'll get approved though. I was reading my benefits and it states that they don't cover nutritional supplements. Does insure nutrition bill a certain way to get them approved?

    Everything is going FAST!

I believe I was approved over night. I talked to the nurse on Monday 5/8 and he said he was compiling the data to send to insurance. And then yesterday (tuesday 5/9) I received a call that I was approved and could schedule surgery. WAYYYY faster than they told me.

    Vitamins through Insurance

I'm glad to see others are using this company and enjoying it. I hope they taste decent... I'm getting the chewables for a few months after surgery. The customer service rep is calling me to finish setting everything up. Just got my date today.
  14. I hope I can get off of it soon after surgery! I'm hoping for a June surgery date and I have an appointment with my sleep doctor in November. I'm hoping to get a sleep study done soon after that.

    Vitamins through Insurance

Oh wow! Yes, a customer service lady called as soon as the prescription was sent and my insurance was verified. They said the my insurance qualifies for the $25 copay. I'll definitely have to look up the other conversation!

    June surgery!

I would love to be added to this FB group! My name on FB is Victoria Koz. I am hoping for a June date..... Just finished all the required appointments and now waiting for approval from insurance and they will call with a date.
  18. Hey everyone! I'm starting to get very nervous about the fact that I will need an upper GI within the next month. I meet with the surgeon on 3/31. My bariatrican and psychologist told me that he will be the one ordering this test. I have already been cleared for surgery from both, just waiting on surgeon and nutrition to clear me. Since its under light sedation, I am worried that I will feel the huge hose going down my throat. I have a horrible gag reflex :/ Has anyone felt it? Not felt it?

    Time after referral

I got into contact with a Loyola WLS patient and was told 2 months was a good wait time for the initial appointment. I should still have a June or July surgery date with starting in early March. I won't have to have a sleep study (already diagnosed with sleep apnea and on cpap), so that will cut out on waiting time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Time after referral

I am going to loyolas bariatric clinic in Chicago. I finally got a call today to schedule my appointments. I have to see the bariatrican, dietitian and psychologist in that order. Unfortunately the first appointment with the bariatrican is march 8th! And then the other 2 appointments are on march 16. I am thankfully on the waiting list to see if someone cancels sooner. I sure hope so, considering it's 2 months away. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Time after referral

I am also waiting to hear from my bariatric clinic. I submitted my patient information and did an online seminar 1.5 weeks ago. I called the other day to verify that they weren't waiting on anything on my end. The receptionist said my insurance was contacted and approved (called insurance and was told inpatient surgery is covered at 100% after referral!) and they are just waiting on the nurse to go through my paperwork before making my first appointment. She said it may take a week to hear, so I'm hoping to hear early next week! I want to get the ball rolling and hopefully have surgery over the summer as I work in the school district. 22. Hello all!!! I am 26 (will be 27 in the spring!) and just beginning my weight loss journey. I am 5'2 and 252lbs... eek! I am having my surgery at Loyola Medical Center. Is there anyone out there that has had theirs at Loyola? Can you give any tips? I just submitted my paperwork and took their online seminar which is required prior to the first appointment. I am nervously waiting to hear from the office. I'm not sure which weight loss surgery I will have, so I'm reading up on everything and anything weight loss related. I do believe that it will be the sleeve or bypass as I have way too many weight related problems. At 26 I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, asthma, anxiety, under active thyroid, PCOS and carpal tunnel. It seems that each year something new happens. ugh! Now for my questions! -what is dumping? -how common is hair loss? -do you have any tips? -how long did you take off work? -how long is the process from your first appointment to the actual surgery date? -anything else you think I should know? -Any other good weight loss surgery reads besides this app? Thank you!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
