    Discouraged

I didn't lose much the first week and a half either. Then it started falling off. Give it time. you got this!
  2. Hello all- I had RNY on 7/31 and have been doing great! This past week has been miserable and I actually called the after hours number for advice. The resident told me they were contacting the doctors and I'd hear back. Anyways, the past week after eating solids very slowly and chewing it up to applesauce consistency, I have been having the worst pain between my breasts as if it is getting caught. Although painful, I can deal with that. About half of the time I am very nauseous and then throw up clear slimy stuff and then feel better. Right before the vomiting I literally can not spit spitting. It wasn't happening with drinking, but after the last vomit episode, i feel the pain with liquids. I am at loss of what to do. I can't wait to hear from the Bariatric team on their thoughts.

    Spacing out vitamins

Yes I am currently taking nasal vitamin b12 spray. But it's only once a week.
  4. Hello all- The only "rule" per say that I have been told about my vitamins was not to take the iron and calcium together. They need to be at least 2 hours apart. With that being said, can I take both multi vitamins together, both calciums together and the 3 irons together? That would make only 3 separate Vitamin times to remember, verses 7. I have been slowly starting the vitamins and tomorrow will be starting to take all of them every day. I started off by taking one of each a day to make sure I wouldn't become nausea.

    Spacing out vitamins

Thank you! I'll just have to suck it up and take them throughout the day.
  6. What is the reason for those with PCOS to stay under 40g of carbs? I'm very interested!
  7. I was in your same boat! No BM after surgery for 9 days. I was so scared my bowels shut down or something. Doctor said as long as you are passing gas, all is good. I was taking colace 2x a day and miralax once daily and it finally happened!

    Swallowing pills post op

I had this worry too! I am doing just fine 9 days post op with getting 3 pills down at once. They are smaller pills, but it works. At the hospital they took me off my blood pressure medicine bc I don't need it as of now, and those were bigger pills. So it might be a different story if I was still on them.
  9. Ok guys- this maybe TMI. [emoji90] I have surgery (RNY) on 7/31 and haven't been able to have a BM since the Saturday before. I'm on colace 2x daily, miralax 1x daily and had baby food prunes last night. I was on a liquid diet 1 week prior to surgery, so I know that messed with my GI tract. And obviously now I'm mostly on liquids- 1 tablespoon of purée food the past 2 days. Should I contact my doctor? I don't want to bug them for something that is normal. Do you have any advice? Besides this, I feel great. Been off all Tylenol and gabapentin since last night too! Woohoo!!!

    Surgery Around the Holidays

I'm a week out from surgery and think you would be ok. You don't have any desire to eat or drink anything, so it shouldn't bother you. You might even be able to make a holiday themed shake if you are really wanting to have something while the others are eating. Good luck!

    Horrible bathroom problems

Great news everyone! I had a BM! The first in almost 10 days. Now I am confident my bowels are still in working condition lol

    Horrible bathroom problems

Doctor recommends to try magnesium citrate and keep on moving and drinking fluids. As long as I am passing gas, everything is good.

    Horrible bathroom problems

I did message my bariatrician to see what she has to say. I should hear from her tomorrow morning. I just don't want to go back to the hospital or have some humiliating treatment!
  14. I think it would be ok- just make sure you are not getting dehydrated.
  15. I know medications arent absorbed well after surgery. My doctors and nutritionist warned me of this prior to the surgery. Do you think it could also be your body getting too used to the pills?

    CPAP

My insurance paid for me to rent the machine for 6 months and then it was considered paid off and "patient owned equipment". I was VERY lucky and have never had to make a payment on the machine or any of the supplies sent out every 3 months. Definitely call your insurance company and ask what their copayment is on home medical equipment. The machine is around $1500 if bought outright and every 3 months it's around $700. I have blue cross blue shield of IL.

    Frustrated

They might want you to redo a few tests/ requirements since they were last done a few years ago. I have the same insurance as you, and I know they told me some of the test results "expire". For instance, I had to do another ekg since the last one was done 12 months ago. Everything will work out, I know it's easier said than done. Keep working towards your goal- WLS! I will be thinking of you and your family as your son's anniversary is coming up. Hugs!
  19. I only had to have a endoscopy. The prep for this test is not eating after midnight the night before the procedure. They start an IV and take you into the procedure room. They help you put a bite guard in your mouth (for the endoscope to go through) and give you medicine in your IV. Before you know it, you are in recovery. I was sooooo nervous for this test, and it ended up being easy! I was so relieved. The procedure itself takes 10 minutes. I haven't had a colonoscopy, but you will be fine! It's good they can knock out 2 birds with 1 stone. It will only require one afternoon in the hospital and 1 round of Anesthesia.

    First appointment scheduled

They should. As long as you have had your weight documented at each appointment and your surgeon doesn't have a specific nutritionist he/she wanted you to be seeing.

    Clearfast Carbohydrate

I think I remember you saying your having surgery at Loyola? Me too. My nutritionist told me all about it at my last nutrition appointment. It coats your stomach to promote healing after surgery and it helps you not feel so hungry. I bought mine already and she said it tastes like grape. The bottles says "white grape"---- I hate grape, so I'm hoping I can keep it down.
  22. Hello! I applied to have premier protein covered by my insurance through insure nutrition. They called me today to let me know they were sending in the request to insurance and it could be a few weeks (2 weeks) to hear back. I was looking at my coverage from BCBS of Illinois, and am totally not sure. It states that nutritional supplements are not covered except as stated in the certificate. And I saw nothing else.... ugh! But it also states WLS isn't covered excepted where stated, and it was approved at 100%. Anyone have any idea? Have you gotten your protein covered? Thanks!
  23. I was supposed to have surgery on 6/19- with my pre-op diet starting today (6/12). I had a tsh thyroid test on Thursday of last week and the results came back horribleeeeeeeeee. They were at an all time low of 0.04 in April, so my PCP lowered the dose to 88 mcg and I retested to see where they were before surgery. Get ready, they came back at 47! No point in there; FOURTY SEVEN! So we upped it again and retested today. I am hoping it was a glitch, because it has never been that high and I have no symptoms. But the surgeon called today and said it was canceled until I can get it at 10 or below. And that is still high. If you pray, please pray it was a glitch and I can reschedule surgery. I am so disappointed

    Surgery Postponed :(

The TSH still came back extremely high, but better, at 28. So we are retesting in 2 weeks to see where we are. Hopefully it will be low enough for surgery. If we can't find a good dose, my PCP is referring me to an endocrinologist
