    Crazy cravings

Yes, prior to my pre-op diet I had this thing for Ruffles potato chips. I think I ate a bag a day for a week. Wait, writing about them makes me want some and the only thing I've been craving since surgery is popcorn when I go to the movies. Better get off this topic :-) Good luck to you, @cajun_queen. I'm originally from New Orleans so I know how bad those cajun cravings can be.

    Feeling defeated

Wow, that really does suck. I'm sorry for the delay!
  4. My surgeon refuses to do it in one procedure. She did note that other surgeons do it in one, but I went with her because I trusted her track record and she was in-network. I waited two months between procedures. It was a pain to take additional time off of work and such and I was pretty disappointed when I first heard about two surgeries. But I'd had two bands, the first 17 years ago, so I was a little concerned about what she'd find going on in there. We only talked briefly the day after the sleeve surgery (saw her colleague for the 2 wk follow up) so I only know that I had to have a hernia repair (hadn't expected that again) and that there was kind of a mess of stitches or something that had to be undone from my band revision seven years ago. I just feel really grateful that all went well. I'm loving being sleeved. The experience is so much different than with the band.

Hi @@SunshineUnicorn, I'm 5'4". I was sleeved almost 8 weeks ago at 235 pounds. Where are you in your journey?
  8. Hi georgiegirl2014. Like you, my surgeon is Dr.Julie Kim, though Dr. Vossburg was in the OR, too. I really like them and liked the Mt. Auburn experience. Going to the support group tonight. Looks like you've done great! What's your experience been like?

Two weeks post op and gaining?

I'm six weeks out. I also gained in the first few weeks. Now the pounds are dropping off. Hang in there!
  14. Hi, I've been through a band to sleeve conversion after an initial band and then a revision. My band removal and sleeve surgery were done 8 weeks apart. I had my sleeve surgery 6 weeks ago. The surgery went really well even though I had to have an unexpected second hiatal hernia repair. Apparently the surgery took longer than expected. I didn't have much in the way of gas pains. My pain meds worked well and I went home day 2. The recovery was more painful than I'd anticipated so I stayed on narcotics over 2 weeks. I'd heard sleeve surgery is easier than a gallbladder removal. I'd say it was the same as my gallbladder removal. More painful than band surgery, but I'm 18 years older now so that may have something to do with it. It was really hard to bend over for a while and then voila about 2 1/2 weeks in it got a lot better. sleeping was tough bc I'm a side sleeper and I had to sleep on my back for a while. I took four weeks off from work and I'm so glad I did because I needed the time to get my energy back. Now I'm feeling great and am SO happy to have made this change. It's such a different experience physically and emotionally. Good luck to you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I HAD MY SURGERY YESTERDAY!

I loved my first band in the beginning until it slipped. Hated the revised one because I felt so little restriction even with a large fill. I may just be in a honeymoon stage, but I'm six weeks out and am so glad I've been sleeved. I feel better with it and don't think I'll be able to work around it like I did with the band. Weigh In Question

Hi there, my BMI was just under what was required (no comorbidities). I asked, should I gain weight to meet the criteria? They couldn't really tell me yes. I gained the weight anyway. When I got to that weight I asked your question bc my band removal and sleeve surgery were going to be two months apart. I was told no, I wouldn't be denied if I lost weight. It was that the number was documented that counts. I was told, however, that I could be denied for gaining a lot of weight. I'm not so sure that that's true. I gained 6 more pounds in those 2 months. Good luck to you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    meds and losing weight

I'm on a little bit of Seroquel to sleep and am trying to get off of it bc it affects cravings and weight. I heard that the worst psych med for WLS is Zyprexa. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Clonazepam & wellbutrin

I'm in the States so I don't know how helpful this will be, but when I went for my first visit with the psychologist I was on four meds for anxiety and depression and two meds for sleep. They weren't concerned at all. I think they felt good that I was getting treatment. I did do a total med overhaul before the surgery and was doing very poorly. This concerned the surgeon and she suggested postponement, but I was able to convince her that all would be fine. I went back to one of my old meds (Wellbutrin, like you) and am doing much better.
