Okay no it does not help anymore............. you bamboozled me! LOL. I haven't called the office yet to tell them I'm postponing until May, so still have March 8 as the official date. We would have been almost twins!

My point of view as a man and a husband. He is insecure. He fears that if you lose the weight you will become more marketable to other men. Thats on him. DONT! jeopardize your life and health for a person thats only thinking of himself. I go in for my bypass April 5th of this year, after years of YoYo diets. Starvation diets. 10's of thousands of dollars on supplements. High BP, cholesterol, diabetes, reflux, and sever abstructive sleep apnea. My wife fully supports my decision. She also knows just how attractive I am capable of being at a healthy weight and never once has she allowed paranoia get in the way of her support for me. You need to do this for yourself, for all those reasons listed above, chances are he's bluffing anyways and relying on you caving in. I'll never understand these sorts of reactions from men. So selfish.

My wife was fully supportive of me having wls, but this is my mindset on the issue...
Life is short. Time is the most valuable asset known to man...or woman. You are not promised anything tomorrow. All you can do is to do the best you can every day. When I die, I would hope that I was able to live my best life...That I made lasting memories with others...That I made a difference in the lives of others. It is a real drop the mic situation.
Marriage is not guaranteed to last either. We try to suppress the things that make us happy sometimes to keep our marriages strong as it is all about compromise. I will not compromise my health for a marriage or relationship though. Let me tell a story about my wife's best friend...
She was obese, pre-diabetic, in pain, and unhappy for years. Her husband loved her at over 250 pounds, and refused to support her having surgery. She stayed in the marriage for another 9 years. The marriage then ended up dissolving after an affair was discovered. She was destroyed. After the divorce, she had Gastric band surgery, and lost the weight.
She is now happy and healthy in a committed relationship with a great, supportive guy. Her takeaway is that she gave up a chance at happiness and good health in her twenties for a guy that ended up not being there in her thirties. If she could change one thing, she would have had the surgery 9 or 10 years earlier.
Do you. Don't let a husband keep you from being your best you. He isn't in pain. He isn't going through what you are going through. You can't worry about threats. Live your life. If he leaves, you will find another. Someone who believes in you. Someone who truly has your back.
I wish you the best of luck.

Little Green reacted to BlueGirl1920 in Three weeks postop update
Three weeks and 20lbs down. I can start pureed food today. However, I would really like to see 25 - 30lbs come off in my first month. I might stay on liquids one more week. I have not exercised at all yet. Frankly, I have no energy because of the liquid diet. I am listening to my body and I figure week four will be when I can start my workout routine. I am seeing changes in my body and it is exciting. I started at 257lbs and I am now down to 237lbs. Overall, things have been great with no complications. No buyers remorse here. People say the first month is really hard but it hasn't been bad. Sure, day one looking at three weeks ahead of liquids seemed impossible. Yet, here I am adding a week. It takes a lot of self control and listening to your body. If you are hungry, it is probably time for a shake or some broth. At first the hunger hits and you think there is no way it will satisfy. Yet, you just keep doing it and soon your body and mind sink up and you realize, yes this does satisfy me and it is enough. I hope you are all doing well on your journey and that this helps in some way.

One physical sign your surgical team sometimes looks at to determine how you're doing...is capillary refill in your extremities. If you press a nail bed, it will go white and you can tell the circulation is good if it flushes right back to pink. If it stays white, there could be a problem with circulation in that limb.
Best to leave the polish off your toes, too. Sorry.

Ya'll will note...I did NOT post this to the general forum.
I posted it to the Rants and Raves board....cause it's a Rant. It's not meant to be helpful...unless humor helps....which it sometimes does. (and sometimes doesn't)

Not "instead of," just "before." I mean, if you have a question and there's already a thread with 37 responses, isn't that more useful than posting and waiting for a response? Honestly not trying to be mean here!

    Let's see you forgot the:

"What type of surgery should I have?" peeps
The "How soon can I start drinking again?" booze hounds
The "I posted a question and it's been three minutes and nobody replied so I'm going to post it in 26 other sub-forums."
The "I've weighed myself 349,821 times today and gained 6 ounces!" scale addicts.
The "Halp Im not lozing wait" title with aboslutely no info about their diet in the body of the post.

And before somebody's feels get hurt this is all in good fun. We've all made retarded posts on here so have a laugh.

I hear you! I mean, I know my surgical team didn't mention stalls, but sheesh, people, read the boards for a while before you start posting how you've gone three days without losing weight and it's only been three weeks since your surgery! Or there's the "I've only lost 60 pounds in six months, what's wrong with me?"
    Relax, people. Take a breath.

I know...I know....we've all been there. And it's important to be patient with newer folks and to be empathetic to their frustration.
I'm so wrong for this....but I just want to smack the **** out of them. Which would not be helpful.
I'm sort of re-evaluating the value of habitually reading this board.
It's all starting to loop around and around in this anxious cycle of angsty mental health issue driven repetitive slurry.
I'm starting to identify these stereotypes of posters that repeat over and over....
The Bird....I will not eat over 500 calories because calories are bad.
The Protein Addict....Must never eat carbs again or the world will explode.
The Why Me Whiner....Where's my yellow brick road, Dr. Nowzaradin?
The Documentarian.... Ate one and three quarters blueberries this morning for a total of 4.37687calories.
The Rebel without a Clue.....I ate a whole pizza yesterday just to see if I could cram one in there. I could! I want my money back!
The Pain in the Ass angsty Know It All.....who writes offensive insensitive rants like this one.
The Research Junkie.....sort of like the pain in the ass angsty know it all...but with more links.
The Fat Shamer.....let me endlessly describe how much I hated my fat, and by extension how offputting I find other fat people
The Size Queen.....Can I slip my new pants size into casual conversation?
The Oblivious Question Asker.....Um, I'm two weeks out, can I have chicken McNuggets and a large coke and fries yet?
The Lonely Soul.....Hi, We should be besties. I'm going to write 9/10 posts about how cool I think you are.
The Stuck Veteran....I lost weight ages ago and kept it off, but I still obsess about weight loss daily.
The Message Board Christian.....Lets slip Christ in there, just for the hell of it. Pray for me!
Maybe I just have a shitty attitude today. I'm bored. I'm tired of thinking about weight.
I'm glad I had surgery. A few bumps in the road, but I'm doing really well all things considered. I'm committed to following through.
But I'm so freaking tired of thinking about this.....and having it consume so much of my life.
And equally scared of not being vigilant.
    Just kinda....ornery. Sorry.

3 bags of cold brew iced tea and 1 bag of mint tea = the best-tasting unsweetened tea you ever did drink! It's not extremely minty, just enough to give it a hint of, "Hmm... that's delicious! What is that?!" and kill some of the bitterness.

    True.
However, it breaks my heart to see that struggling people continue to listen to the "try harder" advice when obviously this didn't work for them because they're too afraid of trying a different road.

If you are well aware that you won't be 100% compliant (are there people who are?) but "only" 80% or 90% it simply will have to be enough.
Yes, maybe you will end up with a higher BMI than someone with a 99.999% compliance rate. However, one has to wonder: is the additional work and hassle worth it? If you can maintain an e. g. BMI of 26 or 27 without much hassle is it really worth obsessing about food and exercise and whatsoever to get down to a BMI of 24 while being well aware that you're most likely feeling more miserable than you would need to and risking burnout on top and then maybe end up at a BMI of 50 again in the end?

When I read this line I had to think about something I read in a book about normal eating some years ago. It was something like "every restricting phase has its counterbinge phase" or "every diet has its counterbinge".
At least it might be something to think about when talking about the very strict diet of some WLS patients and all the struggling vets a few years down the road, too.

Bahahahahah! Yeah, I know! Although I'm Southern and therefore obliged to love ice tea (which I do), I'm not much for hot tea-- I'm more of a coffee girl, but after eleventy billion pots of decaff this week, I feel a little jaded and turned to fruit teas upon someone else's rec. And fork me! Who knew? Am lovin' the blueberry so far! It's the little things...

Thank you Fluffy!!! No way I'm checking out, believe me. If anything I'm excited at the thought of weighing less prior to surgery and getting my husband more prepared to do his own cooking while I'm progressing through the various post-op food stages. I might also just feel relieved at being "done" with all the drama surrounding the date. What a week, I'm telling you. What a week.
