  1. Met with my therapist today and we discussed sleep. Less than six hours sleep affects hormone production and can cause heart attack or stroke. I haven't slept more than 6 hours regularly for years. One solution might be for my husband and I to sleep separately, which I am fine with but my husband is extremely upset by. Have had issues with sleep for over 15 years, so I'm willing to try just about anything.

Yes, I agree with your therapist...sleep is VERY important for our bodies. I hope you find a way to get it in so you and your husband stay in the same room. :) What are your ideas to making this happen? My husband and I both decided that all lights are out by 9pm (except the weekend)...this helps our girls to go to sleep faster and just relaxes me...he goes to sleep by 9:30 (has to get up early) and I go to sleep by 10 or 11.

It needs to be a combo of allowing me to get to sleep at a reasonable time as well as solving the issue with my husband snoring. It's not a loud or bad snore, just a light one, but it cuts through my brain like a knife lol and wakes me up immediately. He sleeps on his side and it's fine, but sometimes he rolls onto his back. That's when I wake up and have to poke him to roll back over. I'm going to try meditating while falling asleep because that used to work to get me sleepy sooner. When you say lights out, are you in bed during that time or are you reading, etc.?

I read some articles about this very subject recently, and I agree. I was on a 5-6 hour a night schedule for years also. I have started going to bed at 10:00 pm on work nights and up at 5:30.

I have noticed a big difference in how I feel later in the afternoon. It took me a couple of weeks to adjust, but now I am getting sleepy by 9:45. My dh snores loudly, but after 31 years of listening to him I guess I am used to it because it doesn't wake me up anymore. Maybe your husband could wear the breath right strips.
