Sleeve next month: are there some foods we will never eat again ever?
VooLivre2017 replied to GotProlactinoma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dumping doesn't happen to everyone. I've never had that issue. I'm in month 6 and have tried eating pizza & a cupcake (separate occasions). The pizza was gross after I chewed it to death. Honestly, you probably won't want to eat this kind of stuff! It's different when you are conscious of the major lifestyle change you just made, the progress you gained. But so far I've had regular foods, just without the breads, rice and pasta. The restriction works! Measure, eat slowly and enjoy life! -
I think you are doing well! This is our new normal and for me, I don't plan to live a life that's boring or completely miserable when it comes to my diet. That being said, I make changes I can live with. So far so good! I can do half of a bunless burger during a 20-30 mins meal and I'm satisfied. I've even had a few bites of cake at a party. It didn't even go down well. I felt full fast & was ok knowing I didn't go overboard. Do I sometimes want more? Yes, but I think it's just old behaviours and I push past it. After my timer goes off, I'm sipping a sugar light drink, or sugar free slushy and I'm happy. You are doing fine! Just relax and enjoy the journey to a new normal.

Look at us, we ROCK! Thanks so much everyone. It's so good to support each other. Last time I lost significant weight it was 40lbs on WW program. I barely paid attention to my body and relationships with food. This time around I'm planning to stay "present" and enjoy/celebrate every milestone while learning new habits.

Today I went shopping and was so happy I got teary-eyed in the fitting room. Size 18 to size 10 in about 5 months. At my last NUT visit, she didn't seem too impressed. Am I supposed to be losing faster? It's not easy but I'm determined to keep this going!

Thank you all for the encouragement! So true! MSinger. Yes, I am trying to stick to the meal plans. It's getting harder now that I notice I can eat more normally but I avoid everything with bread, pasta, fried food etc. Sugar is now becoming a problem and I am working on increasing my protein intake. I think the NUT was upset with me because I readily confided that I ate a few things I wasn't planning to. I wanted her to help me with solution strategies, but she was too busy judging me.

I used to be triple D and the heaviness caused dark strap marks. I'm smaller now but the marks are still there. Tried OTC beaching cream for a few weeks but no luck. Anyone have other tips I can throw in the mix? Aye, my shoulders are really sexy! And I can see my clavicle! Ready to show out in a new off-the-shoulder top.

Bra Strap Marks

Oh wow. I'm going to look for that video. -
Maidenform is better I think. I use Flexees or one of their thigh shapers that's very thin, no band on the leg. It's great under a summer dress because you don't get extra hot and sweaty.

To-go meals and snacks... No refrigerator needed?
VooLivre2017 replied to mrsdaniel2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do this also. My ice is still there at the end of the day! Bringing the lunchbox is good too because they always have bad food choices at work meetings. Prepare your own. -
Like everyone said, it's a phase. You're gonna have quite a few "phases" to get through in the next months. After surgery my emotions were all over the place! It gets better. Hang in there!

Mystery skin pain when bending
VooLivre2017 replied to Acceber12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely call your doc about this. Maybe your skin is dry? Put a few drops of pure vitamin E on it. I had something similar a few months back. I wouldn't describe it as "pain" just a pulling sensation that was not comfortable. Extra moisturizer helped. -
Week 3 Weight Loss Stall
VooLivre2017 replied to KatePenny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup. Same happened to me. Don't be discouraged! Your body is trying to adjust. The weight will start falling off after this. Just stick to the plan, drink water, take the vitamins. Good luck! -
Finally did a full protein day
VooLivre2017 replied to LifeIsAllGood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As soon as I healed enough to take pills instead of chewables, I went to GNC and switched out some of the vitamins. -
Good protein powder?
VooLivre2017 replied to heylizzyclay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried so many brands! Finally found one I can tolerate ... Isopure because it does not get frothy and tastes great. I stick to Dutch Chocolate with skim milk. Sometimes I put a few tablespoons of decaf coffee to switch up the taste, or use cinnamon. -
How is it even possible to gain wt after this?
VooLivre2017 replied to paintmysleep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank u for this post! I'm at month 5, down 47 lbs since surgery and notice I can eat chips and half a cupcake without getting sick. It scares me. I have some emotional eating issues and I'm struggling to stay the course get to goal (25-30lbs more to go) and remain successful. I could cry right now. It's been a rough few days and I'm emotionally weak. Gonna go drink some water too because I'm slightly dehydrated. Maybe that's what's causing my moodiness and depression? -
Has Anyone Kept Their Surgery A Secret?
VooLivre2017 replied to Dtrain84's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I only told people (close friends) who I knew wouldn't judge me. A lot more care about me than I originally thought, and since they've seen me take on other recent calculated risks to improve my life and be happy....they get it...and are happy for me. No one else needs to know. People at work make comments about how much I have lost weight and I say, "thank you" or "It's a life long journey and I'm not giving up! I hate working out but I'm gonna keep going with that too." -
Didn't notice my weight loss
VooLivre2017 replied to redgirl37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great! I know what you mean though. Though my clothes were looser I didn't REALLY notice either. Now, I am stopping to examine everything so I can be more present in the journey and celebrate my successes. -
Travel Overseas - 4months post op
VooLivre2017 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was worried about what to eat while traveling through Indonesia, so I packed some Isopure protein in my luggage, and hoped for the best. Turned out ok considering. I ate grilled chicken, tiny bits of rice, eggs, veggies, no noodles, no spicy stuff. Twice I hid food in napkins and stuffed it in my purse so people wouldn't look at me funny. (What have I become?) The locals kept asking if I didn't like the food! I know maybe I should not care but I did. I don't regret the surgery but I realised how much I mourn food, and my ability to eat different kinds, especially while traveling. Feels like it took some of the fun away. Couldn't drink alcohol either. I don't have a question. Still have some adjustments to make going forward & wanted to post my thoughts to see if anyone can relate. -
When Did You Eat Pizza?

When Did You Eat Pizza?
VooLivre2017 replied to Lollyx3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had pizza for the 1st time tonight! It was a work function and that was my only available option. But it went ok. I had one slice, and ate the top off, barely had much of the bread or crust. I could only get half of the slice down before the fullness set in. I'm happy. I got a "taste" without going overboard. -
Holy Hair Loss Batman!!
VooLivre2017 replied to Mandybb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I posted a thread about this last night. Bawled like a baby in the shower, then today was so depressed. I just hope it stops soon. I'm glad I at least have all of you with support and advice. I started the Biotin and realized that my protein intake needed a boost. I do about 40g for breakfast in a shake then maybe 10-12 for lunch and dinner. My tests all say I'm not nutrient deficient but this hair loss shook me up. So I'm gonna do more water and protein. -
Lololol! This thread has me cracking up!! Thanks guys. I needed to laugh for real.

Freaking Out Over This Hair Loss!
VooLivre2017 replied to VooLivre2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much! You're right. No one notices except me because my coily 'fro is still a bit thick. I couldn't help the tears though :-( I just have to keep telling myself, it will grow back.
