I just dont care anymore
Hang in there Mike. Don't let anyone tell you that you are taking the easy way out. Obesity is a disease, and you need a tool to help you. There's no shame in that! Plus, who said the Lap-Band was easy? :bolt:

anyone heard of 1st personal diet?
I would have to say that almost every diet works...from Jenny Craig, to the cabbage soup diet. BUT a diet is exactly what it is. When you are on it, you do well. The minute you go off you gain the weight back+. People need to go on a "life change" in order to keep the weight off; and the band is definitely a tool to help you change your life. :bolt:

most ignorant reply
I've been told by friends that I'm not fat enough for the band too. My BMI is almost at 40, so technically I'm morbidly obese!

I woulda starting pushing out my stomach like it was filling with air to trick her. "Oh Grandma, what have you done!!!"

I had a "nice" little visit to the ER tonight
When food is "stuck" in the esophagus your body will make this slimy saliva stuff that attempts to help the food go down. If it doesn't go down, it will come out through your mouth to help the food come out that way. It's not like vomiting b/c it's not coming from your stomach. It's also called productive burping. PS. I just learned about this recently too, and thought I'd share my newly found info. :huh2:

NJ April 2008.....
Hello everyone! Today I got an April Fool's prank. Someone put bubble wrap on my tire taped on with duct tape! :huh2: At first I thought it was there by accident, but it was too perfectly put on there. When I drove out of the parking lot I thought I ran over something. Then I heard it again...and again. I pulled over and thought something was wrong with my tire. Then I found it! I deserve the prank. I played a few over the years on my teacher coworkers. :tt2:

O.M. Goodness My Co-Worker...
You know what she could be doing? Trying to make you eat crap. If she's fat and miserable, she might want you to be too. If you get skinny, who will she be fat with? You know? :huh2:

Rash..under my stomach (apron)
It's probably a fungal infection. I got that under my breasts one summer. It's red, raw, and it hurts. You'll probably need medicated ointment from the doctor to get rid of it.

What's the point of no "A"'s?
That sounds like a "let me scramble for reasons to justify my decision before I get approached by the Dean" answer.

Locked Up Abroad
I've seen one of those shows before. Half of the show was about two american girls who got caught in Colombia, and the other were two British guys who got caught too (I don't remember the country). It's a shame that people get duped into a free trip to smuggle drugs.

I win....Stupidest Question of All Time!
Not a dumb question! The book I'm reading actually just talks about this. They say that you have to listen to your body to determine when you are actually hungry and not just thirsty, bored, etc. Sorry I can't give you an exact answer! When I'm really starving I usually get a headache, but I don't wait for that to happen very often. I'd just say...if you think you're hungry, drink some water. If that doesn't satisfy you and you have other symptoms, then you must be hungry.

What worries you (or worried you) about getting banded?
The band is supposed to be there for life unless you elect to have it removed or it has to be removed. But that's exactly what worries me...NOW they say it's forever, but what about 5+ years from now? Will statistics show the same?

Alli ?
I took Alli for a little while and noticed the orange "pizza grease" in the toilet. But I've never had green stool. Did the nurse say what it was from? Other then the grease, the only other thing was it felt like I always had to GO to the bathroom. Did you ever feel that? Also...does anyone know if you can take Alli with the band?

What worries you (or worried you) about getting banded?
I am worried about saggy skin, but not as much as I was a few days ago. I figure...it's my current and future health we are dealing with here. If I really can't stand the skin I'll do a little nip tuck. I can't afford it, but maybe my mom will "buy" me a tuck for Christmas. :frown: She got me Lasik eye surgery two Christmas(es) ago. Think it will fly? :tt2:

Gallbladder?
I'm sorry. Just think...thank goodness they found out now. You don't want to get an infection b/c something was wrong with your gallbladder, you know?
-
could it be?
Is it possible to put the protein shakes in the freezer and make ice cream or a slushy? I've never had one before, but I'll be sure to remember the ones recommended b/c (hopefully) I'll be drinking them soon enough!

What worries you (or worried you) about getting banded?
I'm worried the most that they will eventually discontinue the AGB for some reason or another. I say this b/c of all the other types of bariatric surgeries that were performed, but are not anymore (ie. VGB banding, stomach stapling, etc.). The AGB is the next thing since sliced bread now, but will that fade away like the others? I'm also worried about the problems I may have with the band and that I'll want to yank it out of my body. Now, of course, these are just concerns and won't make me not get the band. It's just something for me to worry about. What are (were) your concerns?
