  1. Hey BrandyII :biggrin2: I wasn't sure it was you until I saw your name down the bottom. Sorry your daughter had a stricture. :whatchutalkingabout I know they are pretty common with RNY. May I ask...was your daughter on liquids and/or puree for a while? If so, I swear that's a contributing factor for the anastomosis healing so tightly. I was on mushable (chicken, fish, etc.) from about 10 days out! I haven't had any problems (knock on wood). On a good note...I can't believe she's down 100lbs. That is so great! I'm so happy for her!
  2. I originally had my mind set on the band. Then I went to the doc and he mentioned the RNY in passing. He told me he thought I'd do better with the RNY. I was SOOOOOOO confused as I thought I was set on the band. After a grueling week or so going back and forth with my decision, and asking people for their opinions on different forums, I decided on the RNY. I'm very happy with my decision!
  3. I have a WLS AGB book for sale and wondered if I could offer it for sale on the forum? Thanks!
  4. Thank you very much. I'm a member there, but find that the "boards" (Vbulletin, phpbb, etc.) are so much easier to read and more organized. But I do go there from time to time. I love looking at the before and after pics!
  5. Hi Brandy. Cute avatar. :blushing:
  6. Thank you, that's so sweet! I check in from time to time when I get emails from LBT. :biggrin2: Plus once I get my surgery, I'll be looking for some good recipes! :blushing:
  7. No prob! It's just that I spoke with my doctor and psych and they both said there are better results with RNY and that I'd be a good candidate. It was a TOUGH decision! If you want to chat more, PM me and I will give you my email address. :biggrin2:
  8. Thanks for all your help here on LBT. I've made my final decision today and have decided to do the RNY. Good luck to EVERYONE!!! You all have been very nice to me.
  9. Thanks for all your responses! I know I have to make this decision myself, but any and all input is helpful. Thanks again!
  10. What worried me was that he was saying with the band the "average" is 20-30% of your excess weight. So for me that'd be like 20-30lbs. That is so not enough! He obviously said that it can go both ways (meaning people can lose more, less, or none at all!). My gut is saying going with the band. I should probably go with my gut feeling. I will, though research the RNY and see more about it. Thanks again for your help! Hey, are you going to the support group on 4/30? If so, I'd love to meet you! :crying:
  11. I had my initial consultation yesterday, and was all set on the band. Well, the doc also discussed RNY with me. He was NOT pressuring me either way, he just wanted to discuss my options. Now I'm confused! :cursing: I don't know which to do! :cursing: I have 80-100lbs to lose and he said I'd lose more with the RNY. I know this is a band forum, but I'd appreciate honest advice. Thank you so much!
  12. Everything went well. Thanks for asking! I really like him a lot! He's not bad on the eyes either. :cursing: My date is June 24th! Exactly the time I wanted. BUT...I'm confused now! He started talking about the RNY and now I don't know which to do! I need serious help deciding!!!
  13. I was told by my surgeon that the weight they put on the insurance forms is what goes through. For example, I am currently at 40BMI, but if I lose weight before surgery, it's okay. Now, if the surgeon specifically said he wouldn't work on you if you were below 35...now that's another story. I think you should call and ask or sign up for a seminar before you get worried. :blushing:
  14. I can't believe it! It came so fast! :blushing: I'm actually seeing the nutritionist tomorrow too. I was supposed to see the nutritionist and psychologist on Thursday, but the psycologist cancelled due to a death in the family, so I moved that too. I hope that I can scedule a tentative surgery date tomorrow. Wish me luck! :scared2:
  15. Great thread! I'm not a big cooker...okay, I'm NOT a cooker. :tongue_smilie:
  16. Congrats! You're doing very well! I can see the loss a lot in your face.
  17. Welcome! Did you contact your insurance company b/c not all require the 6 month diet? :biggrin2:
  18. Oops, guess I should have read this before I posted about Melatonin. :tongue_smilie: I also have BIG trouble staying asleep.
  19. I use this exact Melatonin, which is otc. :tongue_smilie: PS. I am not banded yet.
  20. That's called Globus Sensation. It can be from reflux and also anxiety. I find taking Xanax helps when I have that "lump" feeling. It's very annoying. Good luck!
  21.:lol: I'm sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good thing we are all pleasantly plump here! :biggrin2:
  22. Is that top one on your breast bone? I didn't know they go that high. :tt1:
  23. Thanks. I just liked it when it was on the Forum main page.
  24. Can you put the User CP/My Account back up top again? I can't find it if I'm on forum homepage.
  25. I'm an emt and I dont think it matters what wrist its on. I can say that when we retake pulses in the ambulance it is on the left wrist because of the way u are lying on the stretcher. I personally wouldn't wear it on an ankle but that's just me.
